Reza Afiq, Muay Thai coach and owner of Phet Muay Thai, returns to the show to break down what his training looks like as a Muay Thai athlete — from his sessions in the gym to his diet, as well as how he prepares for a fight — and shares what it takes for those looking to take up the sport.Image Credit: RDNE Stock project / Pexels.com
Reza Afiq's journey in the world of Muay Thai started when he was bullied in school. Looking to equip himself with some self-defence skills, he enrolled in a mixed martial arts class before eventually transitioning to Muay Thai. He channelled that negative experience into something more positive, fully immersing himself in the sport — training in Phuket, competing in multiple fights, and eventually becoming a coach before opening his own gym, Phet Muay Thai. He joins us to talk about his Muay Thai journey and why he believes the sport is for everyone, despite how intimidating it can seem.Image Credit: Reza Afiq
