The 2025 edition of the World Series has taken some serious twists and turns, including the historic 18-inning Game 3. However, what the baseball world witnessed in Game 5 was something that nobody — including the Toronto Blue Jays — could’ve possibly imagined. On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the incredible start from rookie Trey Yesavage, who shut down the Los Angeles Dodgers and has now put the Blue Jays within one win of their first World Series title since 1993. His historic performance, striking out 12 — a new record for a rookie pitcher in the Fall Classic — has certainly ignited the Blue Jays as the series shifts back to Toronto. With the Blue Jays back in the driver’s seat for the first time since Game 1, the Dodgers will send out Yoshinobu Yamamoto, following his complete-game masterpiece, to try and force a Game 7. Can Kevin Gausman continue the stranglehold that Blue Jays starters have had over the past two games on the Dodgers’ offense? The guys also recap all the action from Game 4 and the incredible postseason run that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been on.1:17 – The Opener: Trey Yesavage’s masterpiece12:08 – Game 5 recap23:09 – Recapping the action from Game 436:25 – Game 6 preview: Yamamoto vs. Gausman Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:🎧 Apple Podcasts🎧 Spotify🖥️ YouTube📢 Check out the Yahoo Sports podcast network or yahoosports.tvAnd check out Jake, Jordan & the show on X or Instagram:🌤️ @CespedesBBQ: https://bsky.app/profile/cespedesbbq.bsky.social🐦 @CespedesBBQ: https://x.com/CespedesBBQ📷 @CespedesBBQ: https://www.instagram.com/cespedesbbq⚾ @Jake_Mintz: https://x.com/Jake_Mintz🧢 @J_Shusterman: https://x.com/j_shusterman_
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays knew that Game 3 of this World Series would be pivotal, but neither could have imagined it would take 18 innings to decide a winner. However, that’s exactly what happened, as the Dodgers pulled out a victory to take a 2-1 series lead.On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap the historic game that took place Monday into Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, which featured Shohei Ohtani’s incredible night at the plate and Freddie Freeman’s walk-off home run in the 18th inning. They also give props to both bullpens — with Clayton Kershaw playing a key role in extras, Will Klein’s superhuman performance and the Blue Jays’ staff giving it everything they had.Later in the episode, Jake and Jordan preview a must-win Game 4 for the Jays, set to take place Tuesday night in L.A. With Shohei Ohtani set to take on Shane Bieber, what condition will both teams be in following their 18-inning marathon? The 2025 edition of the World Series got off to a raucous start after the Toronto Blue Jays took Game 1 with an offensive blitz, leaving everyone wondering if this could be the year the Commissioner's Trophy lands in Canada. However, Yoshinobu Yamamoto put those early thoughts to rest with his Game 2 gem that helped the Los Angeles Dodgers even the series at a game apiece. With the Fall Classic now shifting to Dodger Stadium, the question is whether both teams will be returning to Toronto before a champion is crowned. On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap all the action from the first two games, including the Blue Jays’ impressive offensive onslaught in Game 1 — highlighted by the first-ever pinch-hit grand slam in World Series history. When the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners this past Monday night, they punched their ticket to their first Fall Classic since 1993. Game 7 delivered everything a baseball fan could want, including George Springer’s go-ahead three-run home run — the difference-maker that will live forever in Toronto sports history. Now, they face off against the defending champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers. On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap all the action from the thrilling and heartbreaking ALCS finale that saw the Mariners fall just short — once again — of their first World Series appearance. Is the championship window closing for this Mariners core or can they find a way back next season? Also in this episode, Jake and Jordan give a full preview of the 2025 World Series. When Shohei Ohtani hit the 50-50 milestone last season in Miami, many thought it was one of the greatest single performances in baseball history. Little did they know, Ohtani would go on to deliver an even more impressive feat in a series-clinching game that sent his Los Angeles Dodgers back to the World Series, just one year after winning the Commissioner’s Trophy. On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman break down what might be the most impressive game ever played in baseball, in which Ohtani pitched six shutout innings, struck out ten, allowed zero earned runs, and hit three home runs en route to the Dodgers clinching the National League pennant. Then the guys talk about the Milwaukee Brewers’ unfortunate showing against a juggernaut like the Dodgers. Also in this episode, Jake and Jordan preview the upcoming Game 7 that will decide the ALCS between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners. Will the Jays ride the hot bat of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to their first World Series since 1993 or can the M’s win their first-ever American League title and finally reach the Fall Classic? The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night and are now just one win away from repeating as National League champions, with hopes of back-to-back World Series titles in their sight. The Brew Crew will need to channel some of the 2004 Boston Red Sox magic to overcome their 0–3 deficit but it won’t be easy, especially considering who they’ll be facing in Game 4.On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss yet another stellar pitching performance from the Dodgers, with their staff allowing only one run in Game 3. With Shohei Ohtani set to take the mound in a potential closeout game on Friday night, can the Brewers begin arguably the biggest comeback in MLB postseason history? Also on this episode, Jake and Jordan cover how the Toronto Blue Jays gave the Seattle Mariners a taste of their own medicine by winning two straight games at T-Mobile Park, evening the ALCS at two games apiece. After the epic 15-inning ALDS Game 5 classic that saw the Seattle Mariners take down the Detroit Tigers, the Toronto Blue Jays were set to take on a tired M’s club in the ALCS. However, the Mariners proved them wrong and shocked the baseball world by taking down Toronto on the road and grabbing an early 1-0 series advantage. On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman break down all the action from Game 1, which saw Cal Raleigh go deep yet again and the Blue Jays make a questionable decision by pulling Kevin Gausman in the 6th inning. The Los Angeles Dodgers have booked their 8th trip to the National League Championship Series since 2013 by walking off in the bottom of the 11th inning against the Philadelphia Phillies. While Dodgers fans celebrated advancing, it was Orion Kerkering and the rest of Philly left wondering what if.On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman break down the unfortunate error by Kerkering that led to the Dodgers eliminating the Phillies — and why he doesn’t deserve all of the blame. The guys then go on to question whether the Phillies have a larger issue brewing with their roster after failing to win the World Series in recent seasons and what’s next for their impending free agents. Also on this episode, Jake and Jordan discuss the Chicago Cubs taking down the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 4, forcing a winner-take-all Game 5 back in Milwaukee this Saturday.
