Bayern Munich continues to be top of the league this season; they beat the plucky underdogs of the Bundesliga, Holstein Kiel, but struggled massively at the end; they kept their six point lead over Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern Munich continues to be top of the league this season; they beat (arch rivals and forever nemesis) Borussia Mönchengladbach and kept their four point lead over Bayer Leverkusen, but does Bayern have a Harry Kane problem and maybe a Jamal Musiala problem? Bayern Munich visited VfL Bochum and took care of business, though it was not in an overly convincing way. Dominant? Yes. Convincing? Well...it was poor competition, so it is tough to say. At least Bayern Munich did what it needed to do. At this stage, the Bavarians should overwhelming an overmatched side like VfL Bochum, but that did not happen. Let’s dive into with with this combination Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show / Flagship Show:A look at the starting XI.A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.Bayern Munich dominated, but had a couple of lapses. Against better teams that could be trouble (again).Where does Bayern Munich go from here? Some thoughts on why Max Eberl is at risk of losing the fanbase and why it might be hard for him to regain the faith of those who have already checked out on him.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Few things are inevitable in football, but Bayern Munich vs FC Barcelona has certainly felt that way in recent years. The two FCBs have an incredibly lopsided record in the UEFA Champions League, with Bayern not just winning games, but winning them by some margin, year after year, ad nauseam. The links between these two clubs are numerous — Barca employ former Bayern Munich men in both Robert Lewandowski and Hansi Flick. Flick especially was considered for the coaching position at Bayern before Vincent Kompany was hired. That makes this game more emotionally charged than usual. In this episode, INNN and Michael discuss the following:Who should be on the starting lineup? Should Thomas Müller play? Does Serge Gnabry keep starting?Who are the most dangerous players on the Barca side? Lamine Yamal vs Jamal Musiala, and the curious case of Raphinha. How Barca’s attack stacks up against the Bayern Munich defense. Why Bayern has an advantage attacking the Barca defense.Discussing the two strikers — Harry Kane vs Robert Lewandowski. Who is better? What if Vincent Kompany loses? Where do we go next?Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Well, that was a miserable week. After suffering a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa, Bayern Munich head into October international break after a devastating 3-3 draw to Eintracht Frankfurt. After three games without a win, Vincent Kompany’s meteoric rise at the Bavarian capital has come to a standstill. In this episode, INNN and Samrin discuss the following:How this game repeats a pattern we have seen before. What is wrong with the defense? Is it the system or the players?Thomas Müller made a difference in attack, but it wasn’t enough.Harry Kane has gone missing for three games in a row — what’s going on with him?Has Kompany’s system been exposed? What can he change to make it better? Is it time to discuss the coach’s job? Obviously not, BUT ...Is Manuel Neuer a problem? Should he be replaced? Can he?How Vincent Kompany has failed to use all the talent at his disposal.Expectations for upcoming games, especially Stuttgart and FC Barcelona.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bayern Munich are playing some of the best football we have seen in years. The club just got done scoring twenty goals in a single week and allowed ZERO shots (not shots on goal, just shots) against Werder Bremen. Vincent Kompany is proving the doubters wrong, and at the same time providing a damning indictment of the brand of football employed by former coach Thomas Tuchel. However, major challenges loom over the horizon. In this episode, INNN and Cyler discuss the following:A deep dive into the differences between Thomas Tuchel and Vincent Kompany. Why Kompany’s players seem to suddenly be “playing better” in the new system. The curious case of Joshua Kimmich — how Tuchel gaslit an entire fanbase. Why Vincent Kompany’s relegation at Burnley may have set him up for this current level of success.Setting a baseline — our expectations for upcoming games against Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa, and FC Barcelona. Why those three games matter. How should Kompany line up his team? Does João Palhinha deserve a chance against Leverkusen?INNN is forced to shut up about Thomas Müller (for one episode, don’t get used to it). What is the major concern heading into the Leverkusen game? INNN and Cyler disagree. What would it mean for Kompany if he fails to beat Leverkusen?Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bayern Munich won 1-6 against Holstein Kiel; Cyler and Samrin break down the performance, wonder what Max Eberl is thinking when it comes to Leon Goretzka, discuss whether Uli Hoeness should still have a voice in sporting matters at Bayern and more:Cyler explains why Bayern did not actually use a 4-2-3-1 formation and why Aleksandar Pavlović’s exclusion surprised him.Did Jamal Musiala play as a second forward or as an #8?Was Kingsley Coman’s performance impacted by Raphaël Guerreiro?Cyler praises Sacha Boey’s performance. What will Bayern do if Musiala decides to leave?Max Eberl’s statement about Leon Goretzka inspires an Eberl vs. Hoeness debate with Cyler and Samrin on opposite sides. Is Thomas Müller not starting because of Musiala?Cyler shows off his knowledge about Dinamo Zagreb!Which Champions League fixture is both Cyler and Samrin looking forward to?Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Once again, a Bayern Munich star has been snubbed from a major award shortlist. Yes, that’s right — Jamal Musiala hasn’t made it onto France Football’s top Ballon d’Or Top 30. The longstanding agenda against Bayern Munich continues. Ribéry 2013, Neuer 2014, Lewandowski 2020, 2021 ... and now this.Paul Wanner has been incredible for Heidenheim this season so far, and is starting to turn heads. The player might even receive a call up to the German National team soon. This could bode really well for Bayern Munich, who would be looking to replace the footballing legend that is one Thomas Müller.Meanwhile, Florian Wirtz has also been tearing it up for Germany alongside teammate Jamal Musiala. This leaves Bayern with a lot to ruminate on for the coming transfer windows. And gives us a lot to talk about in this flagship episode. In this episode, Schnitzel and Ineednoname discuss the following topics:Jamal Musiala’s snub from the Ballon d’Or shortlist. How much these awards matter for the club’s standing and attracting top players.Musiala’s stellar form for Germany.Florian Wirtz’s performances for Germany.Florian Wirtz or Paul Wanner?Would Wanner be the perfect Müller replacement?INNN and Schnitzel agree on multiple things (WHAT?!!!)Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. That was almost a disaster. Vincent Kompany must have breathed a sigh of relief when Bayern Munich just barely managed to scrape a 3-2 win against VfL Wolfsburg on his Bundesliga debut. Still, the performance raises several uncomfortable questions about the coach, the squad, and especially the board. In this episode, INNN and Samrin discuss the following:Our first impressions of Vincent Kompany’s Bundesliga debut. An analysis of the lineup — where was Thomas Müller? Why Alphonso Davies? Why not Eric Dier? So many questionable choices. How is the performance principle being applied? Why did Vincent Kompany ignore certain players? How Kompany managed the game (including subs).Looking at each and every single player individually and what they brought to the table. Why did Harry Kane look better in the second half?Jamal Musiala remains misused.Joshua Kimmich’s enigmatic midfield performance. The disasterclass by Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae — why does it keep happening?Selling Matthijs de Ligt was clearly a mistake. What do we do now?Compare and contrast to Hansi Flick at FC Barcelona.Did Bayern make a mistake by rejecting Flick? Would Flick have done a better job by now?Where does Kompany go from here? What happens to Eberl and co. if he fails?Ending the podcast on a somewhat optimistic note.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bayern Munich went to Seoul, South Korea and came away with an impressive win over Tottenham Hotspur, dominating the game and scoring two goals. Meanwhile, on the PR side of things, Thomas Müller has been getting more attention than ever. Is something afoot? In this episode, INNN discusses the following topics:The five major things Vincent Kompany got RIGHT vs Spurs. Why this matters for the upcoming season. Why some players seemed to settle into the new system despite a lack of prior training.Similarities (and differences) to Pep, Nagelsmann, and Flick.Putting the brakes on the hype train (just a little). Why loaning Bryan Zaragoza seems like a good idea.Conspiracy: Bayern Munich has begun to plan the “end” of Thomas Müller, and the current PR is a tool to make that happen.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany.
