This is for you if you feel like you are struggling in your life right now. It's easy to perceive your struggles as barriers or failure but I want you to remember this: 1. You are not alone 2. People genuinely care about you 3. You are enough 4. You are resilient 5. I've recently had a few people reach out asking for tips/advice on how to break through limiting beliefs, overcome negativity and toxic behaviours and what would be my top tips for others. So, I've chosen to share 7 lessons I've learned through going through deep hardship. This isn't specifically for those who've gone though abuse - yes, it will resonate. However, it is really suited for anyone no matter where you're at in life.  Lessons: 1. Never be in a rush 2. The past is the past 3. Take responsibility for your own actions 4. Always see the positive in every situation 5. Never settle 6. Learnt to love yourself  7. Find purpose/meaning to you and your life I'd love to know what your take away was and if there's anything you'd add to the list? ---------- Connect with Darcia - Website: https://www.beautyinstrength.com.au IG: https://www.instagram.com/darsha.mia/ ---------- Want to support the show? They say it's true that we end up repeating the cycle if we've experienced abuse from a young age. Would you agree? Unfortunately for Bec, this statement is true. At just 13 years old Bec's vulnerability was taken away but due to a lack of education, self-worth, guidance and strong leadership Bec's worst nightmare became a reality early into her adult life. Bec, now a fitness trainer and professional athlete in golf is determined to lead the way for women who've gone through similar experiences to her own. At just age 21, she is writing programs that will be included into schools that will help raise awareness for domestic and family violence, she is on a pathway to becoming Australia's best long driver in golf and there is no doubt in my mind she will continue to strive for excellence in every area of her life because of what she's been through. It takes such courage to speak up and share these personal stories, they usually trigger the speaker because of the level and depth some of these women have gone through. So please, I always ask you listen with an open mind and an open heart as this becomes a part of their healing journey.  ---------- Connect with Rebecca Kendrick - IG: https://www.instagram.com/rebeccaaak66/ ---------- Connect with Darcia - Website: https://www.beautyinstrength.com.au IG: https://www.instagram.com/darsha.mia/ ---------- Want to support the show? A woman who experienced sexual abuse from her brother when she was younger had no clue why she started living a destructive lifestyle. It wasn't until everything in her marriage started going down south and she started having flashbacks from her childhood which pushed her to seek professional help. Sometimes we don't know why we "party hard", make "bad" choices, hang around a "certain type" of person. There is usually a back story - and for this woman it all started to make sense when it was pulled to pieces. To her own credit, she was very determined to turn her life around - she knew she wanted a better lifestyle for herself and her future family - it wasn't easy but she got there and she now lives a "vanilla" lifestyle that she once use to judge in the past. I want this episode to give you hope that if you have experienced childhood assault/abuse you too can turn your life around just like this amazing woman did. ---------- Connect with Darcia - Website: https://www.beautyinstrength.com.au IG: https://www.instagram.com/darsha.mia/ ---------- Want to support the show? There's a lot that goes on behind closed doors and from a childs eyes you are shaped very young and your perception of who you are, other people and the world has already been decided. For Samantha she had to grow up very fast, the eldest of 8 kids which meant a lot of responsibility. From the ages of 3-11 Samantha witnessed family violence by her step father which led to living in a womens shelter with her mother and two of her siblings for over 9 months to get away from their perpetrator. Samantha now lives a happy and fulfilled life and pays a lot of respect to how her mother raised her despite the challenges. You will hear the positive impact her mother had on her even though some days it felt like their world was crashing down. ---------- Connect with Samantha - Website: https://www.summerhilllashes.com IG: https://www.instagram.com/summerhilllashes/ ---------- Connect with Darcia - Website: https://www.beautyinstrength.com.au IG: https://www.instagram.com/darsha.mia/ ---------- Want to support the show? In this episode I speak with Sophie Gray who is a psychotherapist. Sophie suffered anxiety and depression as a teenager but didn't piece it all together until she started studying. Sophie shares what her relationship is like with a narcissistic mother - how it affected her and how it has shaped her today. She says she always had a passion and interest in psychology which has led her to running a therapy practise with her father - whom they share a really strong bond together; Think Gray! (because success isn't always black & white) Outside of her professional work and what she does to help make a difference in peoples lives who are looking to take back their power, Sophie is a mother and a Les Mills fitness instructor. *Disclaimer this episode has some "noise" in the background...coming from my 3 year old toddler who decided it would be perfect timing to start screaming....... If you listened to episode one you'll know that this is just my reality and in order for me to fulfil my own aspirations sometimes I've got to deal with a little human being close to the speakers ;) ---------- Connect with Sophie - Website: https://www.thinkgraypsych.com IG: https://www.instagram.com/thinkgray.psychotherapy/ ---------- Connect with Darcia - Website: https://www.beautyinstrength.com.au IG: https://www.instagram.com/darsha.mia/ ---------- Want to support the show? When I wrote down my list of who I wanted to interview - Vanessa was high up on the list. I've had the privilege of being an ambassador for The Allison Baden-Clay foundation for about 3 years and I have witnessed the foundation go from strength to strength. I was lucky enough to sit down in person with Vanessa and hear her side of her sisters story, the impact it had on the family and how Vanessa has worked through the personal challenges it comes with. Her role within the foundation is highly important and the purpose of it aims to build a national community that acknowledges the prevalence of domestic and family violence and seeks to create an Australia that is committed to eliminating and taking concrete action to stop domestic and family violence. About Vanessa A Fowler: Chair of the Board of Directors, The Allison Baden-Clay Foundation. Vanessa is the sister of the late Allison Baden-Clay. She is also a wife, mother of two boys and aunt to three beautiful young girls who have tragically lost their mother. Vanessa is a primary school teacher, and enjoys educating and shaping young minds. Little did she know that in 2012, that her life would take such a drastic turn in horrific circumstances and that her family would need her support more than ever. Among all of the busyness of life, Vanessa still finds time to support her parents in the care of Allison’s three children. As you are aware, Vanessa and her family were thrust into public attention following the death of Allison and she has been a guiding force in the formation of the Allison Baden-Clay Foundation, taking on the role of a Director and Chairman of the Board. Vanessa has also been instrumental in coordinating the annual Strive To Be Kind Day, for each of the last seven years, which started with a small Committee of just two and has grown into a major event on the Foundation’s annual calendar. She is committed in everything that she does, to make her sister proud taking the grief and anger the family has suffered and turn such a tragic circumstance into a positive making a difference in the community. In this episode I speak with Samantha Robertson as she shares her darkest moments and how she was able to flee her domestic violence situation. Unfortunately for Sam she didn't recognise her own value and self-worth which almost cost her her life. As a child she grew up with a narcissistic father, which ultimately set her up to find "bad boys" as she describes it as her boyfriend/s. You will be taken through her journey, she goes in depth on how she planned her escape, being abused in public, how it's shaped her but more importantly the work she does today to help other women in similar situations. This woman is beyond amazing and strong - despite these life challenges she's broken through the cycle of domestic violence, she is a a wife, a mother of 3 and her coaching business specialises in inner child trauma. Welcome to Beauty In Strength! Thanks for being here! I can't believe I made it woohoo!!!!! This has been a long time coming...like 3 years!! Hahaha!! Oh well......everything happens in divine timing right?? ;) The purpose of this show is to continue to be a voice for others and shine a light on such dark topics like domestic and family violence, mental health, overcoming child hood trauma, addictions and suicide along with sharing real life experiences from guests who have endured such hardship how they turned their lives around and how YOU can live your life full of love, deep connection, abundance and purpose no matter where you come from or what you've been through. I understand some of the stuff I/we share can be quite confronting, triggering and can come across as "depressing" but I encourage you to listen with an open mind and open heart because these topics are so REAL and COMMON in our world and we need to speak about it and not live in silence anymore. Personally, I grew up in family domestic violence, it has shaped who I am today and my life's mission is to continue to break the cycle of domestic and family violence. I share parts of my story in this first episode along with other similar experiences and I go deep into how important it is to me to create change, be a positive impact and role model for my daughter and everyone around me.  I welcome and ask you to come along on this journey with me as I discover this new chapter of my path and I encourage you to provide feedback, suggestions, opinions, guests I should have on the show and anything else you feel is relevant and aligned with the purpose of this show. It takes a team to build the dream! We're in this together, we are part of the change -- YOU have just become the change by getting this far and listing to this first episode. With love, Darcia :) xx --- Let's connect: IG: @darsha.mia | Web: https://www.beautyinstrength.com.au

Darcia, I enjoyed your 1st episode and getting to know some of your background. We had a similar childhood and motivation to strive in athletics. Looking forward to listening to the other episodes.
