Behind The Body

Behind The Body Podcast explores and discusses women's health. Emerging from many late night conversations, we noticed that many of our experiences and the issues regarding these topics in the media were not voiced or stressed enough by the youth. Hence this podcast was born with the goal to educate, empower, & address women's health. We hope to spread a positive message and increase awareness for this topic! Thanks for listening!

New Years Resolutions/ Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Since it’s the beginning of January, we wanted to make an episode on New Year’s Resolutions. Making resolutions is very important and helps ensure that we achieve all our goals, but it is important to make those goals sustainable and realistic. For example, many people plan to diet in the new year but that’s not always the healthiest option for the body or the mind. Any time is a good time to start making changes and just because the beginning of a new year might not start off right, it doesn’t mean we can’t change later on in the year. We also go over school and how the new year is also the beginning of a new semester and the pressure associated with it. The episode concludes with some tips on how to set and achieve realistic goals. We hope this is helpful :) Good luck with your goals for the year!!

Media Portrayal of Eating Disorders

In this episode, we discuss how eating disorders are shown on television. Since it’s easier to portray a stereotype, depictions of eating disorders on tv may all seem the same, but that’s far from reality as everyone has a different experience. It is often used as a plot point or character trait instead of a real ongoing issue in a person’s life. Anyone can be experiencing an eating disorder regardless of how they look. The episode also covers the difference between disordered eating and eating disorders. We also go over some examples of eating disorders in popular tv shows. Although eating disorders may be misrepresented at times, the media has a lot of things they can improve on while it might not be possible to show a completely accurate portrayal. Please remember that nothing on tv should be taken seriously (unless it’s supposed to be educational like a documentary of course :) Hope you enjoy!
