With $101M domestically this weekend, a drop of only 35%, Inside Out 2 sits at $356M domestically, surpassing Dune: Part Two for the highest-grossing movie of 2024 so far. Internationally its total sits at $369M, only $2M behind Godzilla x Kong, and making for a global cumulative total after less than 2 weeks of $724M — the highest gross of the year to-date. Bad Boys: Ride or Die grossed an additional $18.8M domestically in its third weekend, reaching $289M globally. The Bad Boys franchise has now grossed over $1B globally. The Bikeriders debuted to $9.7M in the domestic market and $3.9M internationally for a total of $13.6M. The Exorcism debuted to $2.5M in the domestic market and $1.9M internationally for a total of $4.3M Despicable Me 4, opening in 4 international markets, grossed $9.35M.
Live from CineEurope, Matthew and Simon dive through the explosive opening of Pixar’s Inside Out 2 this past weekend, where it broke records for the year-to-date and provided a boost to the box office. As the highest domestic opening result for the year, we compare Inside Out 2 against other animated titles of recent years to see how Pixar's latest stood out! The Strangers: Chapter 1 opened in 3rd position in the domestic market with $12M. Fall Guy took another $15.6M globally, bringing its cumulative total to $127M. The Garfield Movie ahead of release in the US is now in 27 international territories and grossed $10.3M, bringing the international total to $49M. Back to Black released to $2.85M domestically, bringing its worldwide cume to $26.3M.

And as May the 4th marked its 25th anniversary, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace made a surprisingly sizeable splash with its re-release. Re-released for its 25th anniversary on May the 4th, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace took $8.1M in the domestic market this past weekend. Challengers  grossed another $7.6M in the domestic market, taking 4th position. Godzilla x Kong grossed an additional $4.5M, dropping 37% from its previous week.

Imaginary grossed a further $5.6M domestically, reaching $19M domestic total in its second week. Cabrini dropped 61% for $2.8M in its second week, and now sits at just over $13M for its cumulative domestic total.

Argylle debuted across the world this past weekend alongside a box office oddity, as a faith-based TV series, The Chosen, screened the first three episodes of its 4th season in cinemas. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes passed the $300M mark globally this past weekend, adding another $5.8M domestically. The Boy and the Heron dropped 60% in its second weekend with $5.8M domestically. Godzilla Minus One grossed a further $4.9M domestically. And Trolls Band Together grossed $4M domestically, with its domestic cumulative total now nearly $90M.
