It's been a while since we've heard from this month's artist, but finally, the Lockstar's long lost cousin-Shotgun Shirley returns to deliver a cracking mix. She assured me that she hasn't been living under a rock, just surveying the music scene, and keeping busy in the studio working on new tunes. Whatever she's been doing, she hasn't lost her touch. This mix is a mixture of Melodic, Organic and Progressive House that just keeps chugging along, surprising you until the very end. We're glad to have you back, Ms. Shirley. It's been far too long. We lost West Coast House Music legend-DJ Dan on 03/28/26. Back when Jon started getting into the Electronic music scene, DJ Dan was playing music with feel-good vocals, catchy hooks, and recognizable samples. In additoin, he was mixing in funky breaks, tech house, disco and funk with long, seamless blends that kept the energy high. Jon would be heavily influenced by this style that you can still hear in his mixes today. For this month's podcast, Jon wanted to bring you one of his favorite mixes from DJ Dan. his BEATS4FREAKS mix from 1998. Jon was able to find all of the songs DJ Dan used, and has put his spin on the mix for you. It contains so many classic tracks from the time, so if you have never heard the mix, we are sure you will enjoy it. Let's take a trip down memory lane and pay our respects to a true legend-DJ Dan.
