F WORD F WORD AND MORE F WORDS, This week I was 4 weeks in to seeing a health coach, I was doing all the things, doing really well, then my brain took over, I fell off the wagon then all of a sudden I’m adding ‘thigh slimmers’ to my cart and other metabolism diet pills that won’t work (I didn’t buy then)   In this episode I take you along with me to my appointment with Joelle Legg my health coach/nutritionist, to get advice on how to get back on the horse and silence the negative talk   HELPFULL LINKS: Find the pod on social media @bettermehopefullypodcast Find Sharyn @SharynCasey    Find Joelle on social media @joelle_legg Thanks heaps for listening, you’re cool
Shocker of the century, I was recently diagnosed with ADHD, ever since things have blown my mind how different parts of my personality now make sense, it’s not just me living this reality though, so many people are being diagnosed late in life with ADHD and other neurodiversities, so what do we do afterwards? My friend Nathan was diagnosed last year with ADHD and PTSD after a traumatic event landed him in the hospital, He’s been on a journey making his brain his life and I was so grateful no only that he wanted to share his story on the podcast, but he also introduced us to this weeks expert Alex Campbell who’s an ADHD coach, therapist and lives with ADHD himself. I hope this episode answers questions you may be asking yourself and give you some tools to make this discovery for you or a loved one an easier choice.  HELPFUL LINKS:Find the pod on social media @bettermehopefullypodcast Find Sharyn @SharynCasey

YOOOOHOOOO ONLY MEEEEE! It’s been a while since one of my besties somatic Sexologist Morgan Penn and I did a podcast episode together, but we had to organise a Trainee Sexologist reunion to talk all about libido. Morgan is such a great safe space to discuss this sort of thing because a low libido is so incredibly common or your libido changing throughout your life, I put all the questions to Morgan and she brings her expert knowledge to help you improve your sex life! I got scammed by a naturopath. In the desperate search to feel better, I somehow ended up on a cooler bag worth of supplements and a massive credit card bill.  How do we spot the real from the scam? Are they all bullshit?  I talk to Doctor Sash and Naturopath Jess Blair to wade through the fake and how to spot someone who actually wants to help you and doesn’t just want your money.  Helpful links Find the pod on social media @bettermehopefullypodcastFind Sharyn @SharynCasey   Find Jess @jessblair_

It’s me! Sharyn Casey! You friend and overuser of exclamation marks!  I was sitting with a friend recently which reminded me of a conversation I’ve had so many times before with other people and myself - the conversation about whether or not to start medication for my mental health.  I’ve been on Sertraline for anxiety and depression for about 4 years and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. When thinking on this topic my mate and mental health advocate Jazz Thornton was the perfect guest to discuss the process with, Jazz shares her decision to go back on medication last year, her and I’s history which we’ve never spoken in depth about before. When talking about medication for our mental health, I wanted to pick the brain of Psychiatrist Robert Marchl on how the medication works, the stigma around them, are we being over prescribed and what’s the journey like adjusting to meds.  This is a great episode for understanding, help with making the decision or just a couple of people that get how you feel   HELPFUL LINKS: Helpful links Find the pod on social media @bettermehopefullypodcastFind Sharyn @SharynCasey   Thanks heaps for listening you lovely human

Hi I'm Sharyn Casey and I'm a horndog for Faeries Gawd I’m excited for you to hear this episode, it feels like more and more women are horned up and ready to go thanks to fantasy books - Not like a racy fantasy, I’m talking mystical creatures, faeries, dragons, swords and all!  Where did these books come from all of a sudden? Are they spicing up libidos and sex lives? Are women reading smut instead of watching corn? If so why?  These questions are answered this week by my special guests. Two of my besties Ange and Ash who are presidents of my smutty book club. Somatic Sexologist Morgan Penn gives her professional opinion.  Thanks heap for listening, I hope you laugh as much as I did doing these chats. Holy guacamole, as if beauty standards weren’t already cooked, along came Ozempic. It feels like out of nowhere this medication that is a miracle for those who need it for legitimate health reasons is now being used by those who don’t need it so they can shed body fat at a rapid pace & it’s terrifying, but has a lot of people (myself included) interested. What the F is ozempic? Who needs it? What are the side effects? What does it do? How much does it cost? In this episode I interview Johann Hari author of ‘The Magic Pill’ who’s researched Ozempic all over the world but also taken it himself. Also joining the chat from a Kiwi perspective my friend Katie and a bunch of amazing wāhine from our Better Me (Hopefully) community share their experiences. HELPFUL LINKS: Better Me, Hopefully, is hereSharyn Casey - @Sharyncasey  For more on Johann Hari @johann.Hari To read Johann’s book ‘The Magic Pill’ (Also available on audiobook via Audible)https://xx.nz/iHLNt
Will people think I’m boring if I don’t drink? It’s a question I’ve asked myself a lot and this year I’ve been living a sober curious life because I couldn’t be bothered with hangover anxiety anymore. In this episode - without being annoying and preachy - I’ll share my story of why I’ve decided to give up booze (Sorry in advance I get teary) and I chat to guests:  Vic & Hamish from the Sober Awkward podcast  Associate Professor of Mental Health & Addiction  Andy Towers  Where to find us on social media:Better Me, Hopefully, is hereSharyn Casey - @Sharyncasey Vic  Hamish’s Sober Awkward Podcast - @soberawkward
Hey there, I'm Sharyn Casey - mum, wife, and radio host. Welcome to "Better Me (Hopefully)," a podcast where I get real about trying to be the best version of myself while trying to hold it all down.  Let’s face it, we’re bombarded with wellness tips, fitness trends, and self-improvement hacks every day. But how much of it is actually worth your time and money? After spending more cash than I'd like to admit on wellness fads, I'm here to share what’s worked for me and what’s total BS. Join me as I chat about everything from hilarious personal mishaps (like nearly crapping my pants on the motorway) to deeper conversations about why we feel so drained and how we can actually boost our energy and happiness. We’ll cut through the noise and find out what really makes a difference. Listen in for a mix of laughs, honest moments, and practical advice. If you're just trying to figure it all out like the rest of us, "Better Me (Hopefully)" is your new go-to for keeping it real while trying to live your best life.
