Description

We're neither a grown adult nor a child. No one knows what the right way to get through this gray area is. But we do know, we have each other to make it through together.

We are a students-led podcast for teens, by teens, about teens.

Reverse
This is the last of our three part daily-life series: night time! In this reverse-interview-style episode where I got interviewed instead about my sleeping habits, what time I go to bed, etc.
Ever have those times when chocolates, cupcakes, and sugar in general are calling your name but you're too tired to go out or make one? And you're so not in the mood to clean all those bowls and spatulas afterwards....ugh. Jane shares some lazy baking tips that take literally less than 10 minutes and definitely not something that calls for endless lists of ingredients. Even if you're not much of a baker, we can promise Jane leads you to a whole new world of baking: lazy baking!
Some of you might hear the word poetry and immediately go to that stereotypical voice convincing you poetry is all bore and no use for anything. Zander is the first person who convinced me otherwise on his first interview. He started with sharing his second piece of poem called "Snakeskin Boots," which has an interesting story behind it, but we ended up talking about how writing could be an outlet in which one could use to express emotions and deal with mental health. This is one of the most in-depth conversation I've collected since starting this podcast, and I appreciate Zander's honesty and his stories. This is the last of this poetry series of the 2022-2023 school year, and we'll come back with more pieces of writing in the coming year. Stay tuned!
Junior year is known for all kinds of things: the privilege of being an upperclassman without having to deal with college applications yet, friends, etc...but also, horrifying rumors follow about being a junior: the nightmarish SATs, ACTs, APs, and starting to think about what college/ future after high school. I laughed the most listening to Ethan's episode, especially the last segment. He reflects back on junior year, summer plans, etc, but his last quote was the most iconic: "the best part of being a junior is not being a junior anymore." Being a rising senior myself, I could totally agree. There are definitely fun parts of being a junior, but it is true there are really some icks and yucky stuff that hits you in the head in the year. But then again, isn't that life?
Advice Column [part 2]

Advice Column [part 2]

These are the rest of the responses to the concerns we received! Shoutout to Kate for writing & reading responses in lieu of the regular advice column team. We didn't have enough time at the end of the year so everyone in the team could finish working on all of this....but no worries. Kate to the rescue!! Some of her responses are actually very relatable and funny in a really witty way. This marks the end of round one of our advice column, and we'll continue on this coming year :))

Advice Column [part 1]

We put out an advice column flyer around the school: SO MANY people responded with various concerns/worries. Thank you all of you for trusting us with your worries. The team tried their best to address each one with much respect. Please keep in mind we selected responses to answer to due to receiving so many responses. If yours did not get selected, please don't worry, it was still read and appreciated.
Zander won an Honorable Mention in the 2023 River Rat Writing Prize with his poem. The River Rat Writing Prize contest is a school-wide writing competition where students submit works of short stories, poems, or any kind of written work. Zander shares his poem titled, "The House with No Door." He will be regularly sharing his work and talking about how students can use it to their advantage to process difficult emotions.
My name is Rachael. My younger sister's name is Kate. We created this podcast together. We wanted to create a place where we could hear various stories of huron students. Our vision is to continue producing episodes so students know they are never alone in this world.
The cuisine of the day? Everyone's favorite: Chinese food. We start off with mouthwatering talk about fried rice noodles, then ended up discussing how different dishes of Asian cuisine seem to be all connected somehow. Listen in, and you'll find yourself with a whole different perspective on Asian food at the end.
This was one of the recordings that I appreciate the most, because it truly opened up our vulnerable sides. Whenever I listen to this, I truly would like to applaud Paula for being honest and sharing her story, and helping me open up a bit more in this topic, too. I am really good at hiding my painful wounds and scars. Sometimes I don't feel ok, but I pretend I am ok because everyone else seems ok. Paula really showed the hard sides of being a high schooler, but being honest and open about it. I know I will forever cherish this conversation.
Daily Life 02: Lunch

Daily Life 02: Lunch

2023-05-2605:44

This is the second episode of our three-part series of daily life. In this interview-style series, we talk about each of the different parts of our days. Olivia and I were recording this in the near-empty auditorium after school, but someone kept trying to turn off all the lights on us. I asked him to at least keep one on while we were recording, but we ended up getting kicked out into the hallway. You'll hear the interruption mid-way through the episode.
