Description

My name is Debbie and I am someone that been through a Divorce!! It was that experience that set me on a new journey of true self discovery, starting a new chapter. As I have moved 'Beyond the D Word' I want to use this platform to share my thoughts and learnings, offer hope to anyone who is on a similar journey and bring joy and vitality along the way.
My hope is that by talking openly about my experience of moving beyond such an event I can help anyone who is going through it or has been through it feel that little bit less alone.

I was fortunate enough to be interviewed by A Girls Guide to Divorce where I shared my story in an episode called A Brit's Guide To Divorce.  In the episode we discuss my experience of infidelity and the differences between divorce in the UK and in the USA. Originally posted on their YouTube Channel I thought I'd upload it here. So the title of this podcast may seem a little dramatic but it seemed the most fitting. Have you ever read the Heal Your Life book by Louise Hay? If you haven’t then it’s one I’d recommend. Her view was that illness however mild or severe is an indicator of your emotional state, caused by your thoughts and focus. Well today I find myself being reminded of this as I’ve woke up with a stinking cold!! Your body always tells you something.. and it will come up and slap you in the face if you don’t listen. According to Louise Hay Colds are a sign that you have too much going on at once, which is certainly a sign for me!!
So on this lovely sunny day I decided to take a talk to the shop to a) move away from my desk but b) move my body and get some fresh air.  Like many of us I was running through things in my head about what needed doing when suddenly I looked up and saw an plane flying overhead leaving behind it that lovely cloud trail they leave, and I suddenly realised that I was transfixed in that moment. Which lead to me think about 'Mindfulness' This is one of my 'voice journals' where I'll share what I thought in that moment.  No structure, no professional studio just me and my thoughts which come from being on the journey that I am on. You can follow me on Instagram at Beyond The D Word https://www.instagram.com/beyondthedword/ as I share my truth through my experience.
So I’m starting again!!! Yes back in 2021 I started this podcast as The D Word where I planned to talk about my divorce experience, but I quickly realised it wasn’t really doing me any favours and hit a brick wall. So after some intense therapy, a lot of soul searching and basically time and space I have now moved Beyond The D Word!! Yes it was a traumatic event which certainly changed and shaped my life but it was also the start of a wonderful new chapter and journey to where I am today…. And who is that? Someone who is feeling happy, grateful and full of joy for my life so I want to use this platform to share my views as a bit of a voice journal (so to speak) and this episode is the start of that… no professional studio or planning just my thoughts from the heart of topics I’m inspired to talk about. Come with me on this journey
I was lucky enough to be invited back for another interview with A Girls Guide to Divorce where we discuss recovering and healing after divorce.  I share what my experience of therapy (or counselling as we call it here in the UK) along with what other therapies I explored to help me with my healing post divorce. I had so much fun on this interview, and as ever share tips to anyone going through a divorce. Originally posted on their YouTube Channel I thought I'd upload it here. It's been three years since my marriage ended and I feel I can now identify there are clear stages you go through. In this episode I talk about how I felt in the immediate aftermath of the breakdown of my marriage, and how those first few months after felt very much like I was drowning! Also in the episode I offer the bits of advice I wish I'd heard (or listened to) for anyone going through it.  Like how to take each day at a time, celebrate the little wins and how not to make big decisions whilst you're in such an emotional state. Thank you again for listening and if you want to follow me on Instagram you can find me at @TheDWordBlog
First of all I want to say thank you for listening to my podcast. This is my very first episode and I'm excited to be starting this journey and sharing it with you.   My name is Debbie and I am someone who has fairly recently gone through a divorce.  I'm not the first person, and I certainly won't be the last, but I am someone who is willing to be open and share my experience to hopefully offer some insight into what it's really like to go through it, talk about the things that no one talks about and offer hope to anyone going through it. In this episode I will give an introduction into what you can expect from The D Word podcast and share with you my personal story. Thank you again for listening and if you want to follow me on Instagram you can find me at @TheDWordBlog

The D Word Trailer

So here is a trailer for The D Word as I start this podcast journey with you.  My name is Debbie and I am someone who has recently gone through a divorce so I'm here to share my experience in the hope that it helps others going through feel less alone, but also offer some insight into what it's really like. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and although going through it is pretty rough it does get better so I want this podcast to be positive and offer hope.
