What does it actually look like to be a good friend?Jonathan could have seen David as competition. David was gaining favor, becoming more successful, and had been chosen for a future that could directly affect Jonathan’s own. But instead of becoming jealous like his father Saul, Jonathan chose friendship. In this episode, we’re unpacking Jonathan’s story in 1 Samuel 18–20, his covenant friendship with David, the danger he faced standing up to Saul, and what his story teaches us about selfless friendship, comparison, and the unexpected ways God can use people to protect and provide for us.Because maybe the question isn’t just, “Do I have a Jonathan in my life?”Maybe it’s, “Am I becoming one?” ✨
A widow. A broken promise. Deception. Sex. And a story that somehow leads to Jesus.Tamar’s story in Genesis 38 is one of the most uncomfortable stories in the Bible. It’s messy, complicated, and filled with choices that make you stop and ask, “Wait… WHAT?”But beneath the deception and scandal is a story of a God who sees the overlooked, redeems messy circumstances, and can bring purpose out of situations we never would have chosen.Because Tamar’s story didn’t end with the mess.It became part of the story of Jesus.Let’s talk about Tamar.
Have you ever been waiting on God for so long that you started wondering… “Did I hear Him right?”Yep! Sarah knew that feeling. She had a promise from God, but the waiting became so uncomfortable that she eventually tried to make the promise happen her own way. And honestly? I think a lot of us can relate.Season 4 of Biblical Balance starts HERE, as we dig into Sarah’s story, her faith, her doubt, her mistakes, and the God who remained faithful through all of it.Maybe the hardest part of trusting God isn’t believing He can do it. Maybe it’s trusting Him when you have no idea when He will.“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” — Genesis 18:14
I’ve been asked a lot recently why I discontinued my meal prepping service, so in this episode, I explain. What seemed like a personal decision became a spiritual lesson about boundaries, people pleasing, undervaluing yourself, and learning how to say no. Navigating burnout revealed deeper truths about my fear, value, and desperation. Through the story of Esau in Genesis 25, we reflect on how desperation can distort your sense of worth and lead to impulsive decisions.
Lately, every time I feel overwhelmed, I’ve had to ask myself a hard question: do I really trust God, or do I just say I do? I used to think stress was just part of being busy, but recently I realized it was deeper than that. My stress has been exposing the areas where I struggle to surrender and revealing where my faith is weaker than I thought. In this episode, I unpack what Scripture says about being anxious, what Jesus modeled under pressure, and how I’m learning to surrender for real … not just in prayer, but in practice.
