As cloaked, cult-like figures surround the building, the patients and staff inside start to turn ravenously insane. Trying to protect the survivors, Carter leads them into the depths of the hospital where they discover a gateway to immense evil.THE FILMMAKERS: Steve Kostanski and Jeremy GillespieAfter starting out in short films in a collaborative context with the Astron-6 collective, SteveKostanski and Jeremy Gillespie learned how to work efficiently with very limited resources, and how to use the creativity of those around them to counter those limitations and achieve remarkable results. Using stop-motion animation, green screen, prosthetics and make-up effects, Kostanski’s Manborg was made for a budget of only $2,000 over three years through painstaking personal labor, shooting for the first year and compositing and mixing for two years during a self-directed learning process that has exponentially increased his skills and understanding of the world of special effects.Jeremy Gillespie’s experience as an art director, graphic designer and composer make himuniquely qualified to conceive of the visual, aural and atmospheric elements of a dimension too terrifying to comprehend, which, combined with Kostanski’s special effects skills will make The Void an unforgettable experience. With their combined experiences working on large-scale, big-budget productions such as PACIFIC RIM, TOTAL RECALL, the two most recent RESIDENT EVIL films and ROBOCOP remake as well as lower budget films such as WRONG TURN 4 (which are closer to the budget range that we are aiming for in THE VOID), both Steve and Jeremy have a keen understanding of high production values but are also familiar with the constraints and the advantages of working within a lower budget range.SO THEY ARE THESE INTENSELY PASSIONATE AND TALENTED INDIE HORROR AND COMEDY FANS…TRY OUT THE BUFFET OF HORROR MOVIES WITH NEW CONTENT ADDED WEEKLY, PIG OUT ON TERROR GO TO SHUDDER.COM, PROMO CODE: BINGEWATCHERS WHEN PROMPTED IT APPEARS ON YOUR PAYMENT SCREEN SO DON'T START SCREAMING UNTIL YOU GET A CHANCE TO REWARD YOURSELF WITH 30 DAYS FREESUMMER SLASH 2O20 IS AROUND THE CORNER, A HORROR MOVIE MARATHON ALL SUMMER LONG. This week on Binge-Watchers we dig back into the mausoleum of movies available on Shudder to bring you the haunted house classic The Changeling. Starring George C. Scott this movie tells the story of a grieving music composer who moves to Seattle after the sudden death of his wife and child. He moves into a mansion of all places that has a sinister past. Based loosely on claimed true events out of the Cheesman Park neighborhood in Denver, Colorado this movie seems to have gone on to influence some modern ghost stories such as The Ring, The Others and Guillermo Del Toro's The Devil's Backbone.Brought to You By Shudder.com, watch a buffet of horror movies on demand for FREE for 30 days with our exclusive promo code at sign up: bingewatchersEpisode Highlights:Favorite Dead Ghost Kid Movie (The Ring, The Sixth Sense, The Lady in White, etc) Favorite George C Scott Movies Final Thoughts on The Changeling New Mutants Gets Yet Another Release Date Indie Darling Director Lynn Shelton Dies Comedian/Actor Great Fred Willard Dies at Age 86 Favorite Fred Willard Movie Little Richard is dead. What's Everyone Watching? Credit Songs:Electric Floor by PalaWitch's Brew by Be Still The EarthSupport the show (https://www.paypal.me/bingewatcherspodcast)

Dead On Demand: Mandy

2020-05-1201:00:07

Tonight we shudder at home with horror director and filmmaker, Edward Payson who tells us what horror movies inspired him to grow up and start making scary movies, we talk about his upcoming feature releases including video game inspired BITS with horror legends, Dee Wallace, and Dominique Swain.  We also hear about the upcoming horror anthology film, The Sunday Night Slaughter starring Corey Feldman.  We had to ask, and so we did, were there any funny stories working on set with Corey Feldman? Ed delivered.  One story is about a security guard strapped to the nines like he is defending the president and not a paranoid movie star, and the other is about getting tricked into appearing at Ninja Turtle themed birthday parties for the price of a day rate.We are now sponsored by SHUDDER.COM, “the Netflix of Horror Movies.”To try Shudder free for 30 days, go to shudder.com and use promo code bingewatchersWe watched one of the best movies we have ever seen and it just happens to be a horror movie, MANDY.We’re gonna go deep on this one but here is the tag line and give you a little history on the filmmaker …Tag line : Sometime ago in the 80s, a lumberjack  and his girlfriend get attacked by drugged out cult members. the lumberjack, Red goes on a quest after they mess with his lady Mandy that turns into this ferociously poetic masterpiece of utter darkness, dismay, and eternal drive to right wrongs. The opening text "When I die, bury me deep, lay two speakers at my feet, put some headphones on my head and rock and roll me when I'm dead." appears to come from the final words of Douglas Roberts, a man convicted of kidnapping, robbery and murder in Texas and executed on April 20, 2005. Now the filmmaker said he is more interested in how stories are told than the stories themselves. He also is quoted in a featurette saying something to the tune of, he wants to turn all his films into pop art because he was only allowed to read magazines about horror when he was a kid and study the poster art. Talking about Panos Cosmatos, who is film making royalty but he may have earned his chops as a video assistant on his dad's movie, Tombstone and then used his royalties to finance his first feature, Beyond the Black Rainbow. We get into a deep discussion about why we feel that Mandy is a great film, where you can find the film to give us your opinions on it, whether or not the entire movie is the dream of a dying character, what is a whimsical horror movie, and why Binge-Watchers will never be the same after experiencing this movie.Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/bingewatcherspodcast)
Start screaming now because this episode is about everything that "creeps" you out...Horror Movie news and a live action update to kick this one off:Pontypool Director Throws a Vampire Wedding in "Dreamland."Paramount is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Friday the 13th this year with a re-release in the form of a Limited Edition Steelbook Blu-ray + Digital, which had originally been set for release on May 5th, 2020, but it has bumped over a month to June 16th, 2020.Disney’s Live-Action Hercules In The Works, Russo Brothers Producing. Our guest tonight is Rebecca Love the Skinemax BQueen of Late-NiteShe joins us tonight to discuss these dark delights such as Creepshow, Creepshow 2, Creepshow The Series, and Body Bags.  We’ll also entertain all you lonely binge-watchers out there with a Q and A with Rebecca Love herself. So, stay tuned! Our sponsor is Beachbody.  Text BINGE TO 30-30-30 because our listeners can get a free trial of their on-demand work outs.Rebecca turns us on to a short horror fan film with Jason that also brings back Tommy Jarvis. We discover that we all like the same story in Creepshow called, "Something To Tide You Over." Starring Ted Danson and Leslie Nielsen.  Binging Cheers is the right thing to do.  How the bills got paid during film school.  Missing video stores. As it turns out "The Assistant" movie sucks.  How John Travolta can sell a a movie with a zero Tomato Rating, but why we love him anyway. We agree with Rebecca when she says, Creepshow 2 is better than Part 1.Redefining love and appreciation for B movies.  And there is a trend in horror movies with blobs.Discussing the Hitchhiker story from Creepshow 2 sends us on 2 tangents: is she hallucinating the zombie, and whether or not it is a blessing to only have to say one line repeatedly in a movie several times.Talking about the original Pet Sematary creeps us out.We dissect the new Creepshow series on AMC's Shudder Network. We diss on a decade of bad Hellraiser sequels.  We have hopes in the new Hellraiser HBO series.  A Hellraiser documentary is discovered on Shudder as a hidden gem. Then, a seriously great side-chat emerges about Alien vs. Aliens and appreciating Xenomorphs that swim.Love for John Carpenter and Tobe Hooper out-creeping the Creepshows with Body Bags, which includes cameos from Robert Carradine, Sam Raimi, Roger Corman, and Mark Hamill.Binge now: Body Bags.Binge later: Creepshow 2.Binge never: Creepshow 3.Rebecca explains her evolution as an adult entertainment artist that fell in love with streaming horror, games like Friday The 13th, and how she became a Twitch star.Credit song:Give It AwaybyLuna WaveNext week:We’re gonna watch and review MandySupport the show (https://www.paypal.me/bingewatcherspodcast)

"If you want to get cast in a movie, call Emilio Estevez an idiot."We didn't say it, but our guest did.  A total '80s icon himself, it is none other than Dean "Chainsaw" Cameron.Laughter is a great way to start, so that's what we did as this wild episode unfolded. We've been trying to convince Dangerous Dave to watch anime, but so far we have not been able to convince him that it is an art form. All he said was," oh great another cartoon that starts out with (blank) out."We bring you the wild rocket ride of this movie --- Dead Leaves, which plays out like an extended music video on acid.  Nicky Lates said,"holy $%^# this movie is so crazy, it's like I just did 10 lines of coke while watching this."Dead Leaves is about these two whimsical rascals Pandy and Retro, who awaken with no memories of their past.  They set off on a crime spree, eventually finding themselves in an infamous prison on the moon where the warden has been experimenting on the prisoners.  They lead the prisoners in a revolt that is mind-blowing.Today we are Sponsored by MANSCAPED and MY BOOKIE AG.Get 20% Off and Free Shipping with the code BINGEWATCHERS at Manscaped.com. That’s 20% off with free shipping at manscaped.com, and use code BINGEWATCHERSAS a BONUS for listeners, you can also use this linkhttps://bit.ly/MYB-BingeWatchers to try out all these online games and get a 150% reward credit for using our ref to My Bookie's games and esports league. We compare Blood: The Last Vampire to Dead Leaves, we discuss movies we are watching to cure the boredom of the stay-at-home apocalypse, the stay-at-home episode of SNL is reviewed, Crawl the gator horror flick comes up, and Rambo: Last Blood is in our queue. We are joined by Dean Cameron to make this podcast the greatest Dean Cameron interview of all by asking him the same 10 questions everyone asks Dean Cameron. However, Dean does reveal potential plot details of a Ski School 3, "partying" with the It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia gang, and we explore more than Dean's acting chops because we also riff about his musical journey. We can appreciate that Dean played the first binge-watcher in cinema history with his role as Chainsaw in Summer School. We pitch Dean Cameron on the Dean Cameron Netflix show. “Train to Busan takes the best parts of every zombie movie and this Black Death movie has one of the most brutal Sean Bean scenes of all time.”On this awesome episode:Train to Busan and Black Death are filled with “essential” personalities that are totally screwed and in harm’s way.Stay with us, folks! It’s a double feature episode!!!Love for Don Lee, Ma Dong-Seok who is about to kick ass as Gilgamesh in Marvel’s The Eternals. In this movie, Don Lee plays a tough guy like Dwayne Johnson with “big dick energy.” Train to Busan is a zombie movie, however, it has won film-making awards. Doomed characters that you can not help but love.Missions with high mortality rates are discussed like the journey the knights take in Black Death. We imagine what it must be like to be trapped in a train filled with blood-thirsty zombies.Busan respects the zombie movie rules, but defies expectations and finds a way to do something new.The dad in T2B learns to be a good person and make sacrifices. And then there is the jerk that gets a lot of people killed. There is an amazing escalator sequence in Busan involving the escaping survivors.Right now the world is being defined as “Essential” or “Non-Essential.”Sponsored by: MyBookie.Sports have come to a screeching halt with basketball benched and pitchers off the mound, but our friends at MyBookie aren’t going to let it get you down. “The road to the Dude is paved with Success. By success, we mean the $hit that came before it. In a movie Jeff Bridges wishes Amazon hadn’t added to Prime Video.” A meek husband turns into a tough guy and studies sex in order to succeed in business, impress his tycoon father and improve his marriage. The American Success Company is a 1980 American film directed by William Richert and starring Jeff Bridges. It was written by Larry Cohen. Re-edited versions of the film have appeared under the titles American Success, Success, The Ringer, and Good as Gold. Harry Flowers (Bridges) is routinely humiliated both at home and at work (the German offices of an American credit card company). Fed up, he hires prostitute Corinne (Bianca Jagger) to help him gain revenge on his quirky wife Sarah (Belinda Bauer) and her father/his boss, the overbearing Mr. Elliott (Ned Beatty) — all while enriching himself financially. Don’t watch this movie. Here is another movie called Seventh Son, also on a list of Jeff Bridges worst movies, but people love it because of the magic, the dragon, the witches, and Jeff Bridges being Jeff Bridges. Here is one of Jeff Bridges’s best movies.  He sings.  He mourns an incomplete life in Crazy Heart.Binge-Watchers is a late night show for your ears with entertainment news, film history, philosophies based on movie plots, hear the adventures and successful failures of our host, JOHNNY SPOILER joined by his buddies he has known since film school, DANGEROUS DAVE, NICKY LATES, and sometimes, their friends from TV, Film, and Music come along for the ride.
