There's a pattern nobody names out loud. The Black girlfriend shows up, she's smart, she's capable, she has a whole life, and then the writers throw her away. Jardo and D'Marcus break down the disposable Black girlfriend trope.D'Marcus lays out a three question test for spotting it, then they run Amber from Invincible, Valerie Gray from Danny Phantom, Daisy from Static Shock, Iris West, and Storm and T'Challa through it. Turns out a lot of your favorites do not pass.Join the Black Geek Energy community and never miss an episode, newsletter, or bonus content:Subscribe to the Black Geek Energy Newsletter (Substack)Support the Show on PatreonShop Black Geek Energy MerchEmail your questions to [email protected] Black Geek Energy Everywhere:YouTube @blackgeekenergyTikTok @blackgeekenergyInstagram @blackgeekenergyThreads @blackgeekenergyBluesky @blackgeekenergyTwitter @bge_podFacebook @blackgeekenergySpill @blackgeekenergyTwitch @blackgeekenergyMusic Produced by @prodbyffsmikeSupport Our SponsorExperience the transformative benefits of therapy with the world's largest network of experienced and credentialed therapists, available to you whenever you need it the most. Nintendo picked the wrong week to test our patience. Jardo and D'Marcus go all the way in on the Switch 2, the pricing, and the Nintendo Direct that reheated old news like Star Fox Adventures. We get into the Wii being the last great Nintendo console, what actually got announced (Monster Hunter Wild, Persona 6, the new Kirby), and a Put You On for the anime short Pretty Please, I Don't Want to Be a Magical Girl, which somehow features a lead pipe beatdown.Follow Black Geek Energy so you never miss an episode, and tell us in the comments if you're still buying a Switch 2.Join the Black Geek Energy community and never miss an episode, newsletter, or bonus content:Subscribe to the Black Geek Energy Newsletter (Substack)Support the Show on PatreonShop Black Geek Energy MerchEmail your questions to [email protected] Black Geek Energy Everywhere:YouTube @blackgeekenergyTikTok @blackgeekenergyInstagram @blackgeekenergyThreads @blackgeekenergyBluesky @blackgeekenergyTwitter @bge_podFacebook @blackgeekenergySpill @blackgeekenergyTwitch @blackgeekenergyMusic Produced by @prodbyffsmikeSupport Our SponsorExperience the transformative benefits of therapy with the world's largest network of experienced and credentialed therapists, available to you whenever you need it the most. Most of the time we talk about running games. This time we go behind the screen. Jardo brings on Michael, a FAMU grad and one of the players trying to survive his Dungeon of the Mad Mage campaign, to break it down from the player's side.Michael tells how a Twitter invite turned into a seat at the table and introduces Lenore, his Bladesinger, an Eladrin wizard who thinks magic should be free and does not want to be in this party. They get into playing D&D's deepest megadungeon, an enemies to friends arc that has not turned yet, and a wizard build that might be too strong for its own good. Plus a D&D class trivia game and a Put You On for Kotaro Lives Alone.Join the Black Geek Energy community and never miss an episode, newsletter, or bonus content:Subscribe to the Black Geek Energy Newsletter (Substack)Support the Show on PatreonShop Black Geek Energy MerchEmail your questions to [email protected] Black Geek Energy Everywhere:YouTube @blackgeekenergyTikTok @blackgeekenergyInstagram @blackgeekenergyThreads @blackgeekenergyBluesky @blackgeekenergyTwitter @bge_podFacebook @blackgeekenergySpill @blackgeekenergyTwitch @blackgeekenergyMusic Produced by @prodbyffsmikeSupport Our SponsorExperience the transformative benefits of therapy with the world's largest network of experienced and credentialed therapists, available to you whenever you need it the most. We linked up with Ode and Mo from the Black and Snerdy Podcast, dropped the positivity, and turned it into Rant Day, where everybody airs out what really grinds their gears.Jardo goes off on fake job interviews that cancel the position the day after they contact you. D'Marcus is still not over the MCU erasing Kang and he's seeing Doomsday anyway, complaining the whole way. And Mo makes the case that GTA 6 is about to become the excuse the industry uses to kill physical media for good, games and anime alike, with the pre-order numbers already proving it.Go follow the Black and Snerdy Podcast wherever you listen, follow Black Geek Energy, and tell us what grinds your gears in the comments.Join the Black Geek Energy community and never miss an episode, newsletter, or bonus content:Subscribe to the Black Geek Energy Newsletter (Substack)Support the Show on PatreonShop Black Geek Energy MerchEmail your questions to [email protected] Black Geek Energy Everywhere:YouTube @blackgeekenergyTikTok @blackgeekenergyInstagram @blackgeekenergyThreads @blackgeekenergyBluesky @blackgeekenergyTwitter @bge_podFacebook @blackgeekenergySpill @blackgeekenergyTwitch @blackgeekenergyMusic Produced by @prodbyffsmikeSupport Our SponsorExperience the transformative benefits of therapy with the world's largest network of experienced and credentialed therapists, available to you whenever you need it the most. If you love anime and video games but never heard the word litRPG, this is the episode that puts you on. Jardo and D'Marcus break down the fastest growing genre in fiction from the ground up.They cover what actually makes a book a litRPG, the history that traces it back to 1978, and the subgenre map from system apocalypse to monster POV. Then they get into the books that hooked them, Dungeon Crawler Carl, He Who Fights With Monsters, Chrysalis, and Life Reset, connect the dots through Solo Leveling and Re Zero for the anime crowd, and tell you exactly where a beginner should start. Plus a Put You On for Saucy Santana and the board game Evolution.Join the Black Geek Energy community and never miss an episode, newsletter, or bonus content:Subscribe to the Black Geek Energy Newsletter (Substack)Support the Show on PatreonShop Black Geek Energy MerchEmail your questions to [email protected] Black Geek Energy Everywhere:YouTube @blackgeekenergyTikTok @blackgeekenergyInstagram @blackgeekenergyThreads @blackgeekenergyBluesky @blackgeekenergyTwitter @bge_podFacebook @blackgeekenergySpill @blackgeekenergyTwitch @blackgeekenergyMusic Produced by @prodbyffsmikeSupport Our SponsorExperience the transformative benefits of therapy with the world's largest network of experienced and credentialed therapists, available to you whenever you need it the most.
