Episode 32: Third Trimester

2024-08-0101:29:21

The end to our first mini-series is here! We truly enjoyed walking through each trimester of pregnancy with you. Hopefully giving you new information to consider or just some encouragement from moms who have been there before! The last months of pregnancy are really important when it comes to making decisions and being fully informed is important. So listen along as we give you the bullet points for the third and final trimester of pregnancy!
On today's episode we're sharing all of the ridiculous things people have said to us (or the stories we've heard) while pregnant or a young mother. Laugh (or cry) along with us as we wonder why people think it's okay to just say whatever thought comes to mind when women are pregnant!
Welcome back to our mini-series! Where we're taking the time to discuss each trimester so you don't have to go in blind! We talk about what to expect physically, what's happening to your baby developmentally, and even what your appointments might look like. So send to a friend who is entering the second trimester or tune in yourself if you're ready to learn more!
There's no going back to who you used to be once you become a mother. But that doesn't mean its always easy to accept that change, even if it's inherently good. Today's episode is us chatting about how important it is to honor the person you are after motherhood while holding space for the hard parts. Grab your drink of choice and tune in as we share our hearts.
Our first mini-series on the podcast! Walk with us as we discuss each trimester in full, starting with the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. We touch on what to expect physically and mentally during this time. What your focus should be this trimester when it comes to nutrition, researching classes, and even choosing a provider. We chat about all this and more in today's episode!
Today’s topic is a serious one but one we knew we needed to touch on. Many listeners have reached out to us to talk on this topic as well. Birth trauma looks different for everyone but statistically one in three women have experienced it so it’s important to talk about it!
It's all in the title! If you've ever wondered if there are any saints to pray to for intercession during pregnancy we've got you covered! Tune in to hear about multiple saints who will walk with you through pregnancy and beyond!
We're taking you back to an episode we recorded earlier this fall and have yet to share! In today's conversation, we're discussing the Golden Hour - that hour after birth when your baby is held skin-to-skin to your chest. Snuggling your sweet baby is just one aspect of this hour, it plays an important role in so many things such as bonding, breastfeeding, mom's recovery, hormonal changes, and temperature regulation. We also discuss what to do if you don't get to experience the golden hour. So tune in now to learn more about it!
Prodromal labor - formerly known as "false labor" - is something some women experience at the end of pregnancy before true labor starts. It can be both physically and mentally taxing on a mother awaiting birth, but you're not alone (or crazy!). Tune in today as we share our experiences with it and how to help yourself if you experience it as well.
This one is for you first-time moms! Grab a cup of coffee or tea and join us as we chat about the things first-time moms really need to know!
What do you need to know when it comes to pushing? Listen in as we talk about this incredibly important stage of birth! We talk about the fears associated with pushing (pooping/tearing) and how to work on overcoming them. The pros and cons of pushing with an epidural, and how different positions can make a difference-incase you thought you had to push a baby out on your back...Newsflash! You don't. Because as always we talk about the choices you have when it comes to birthing YOUR baby. https://bodyreadymethod.com/offerings/prenatal/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwm66pBhDQARIsALIR2zDX8usfeIC01GifdLif-4CNh4YGrFqmYEzzL8Ntg30HvSXNDgpFViIaAjgQEALw_wcB
This week's episode we're getting into the topic of hypnobirthing! What it is and why we are such big proponents of it. We also discuss the concerns that many Catholics have when it comes to this method of childbirth education and hopefully put your mind at ease. Today we're talking about what it's like to be a doula and how the on-call life is a major factor in your decision! It's not always an easy role but it is extremely fulfilling if you feel God calling you to it. Tune in if you've ever questioned whether or not being a doula is right for you!

On our last episode of season one we wanted to discuss the state of maternal healthcare. The current mainstream model isn’t working and we deserve better. We NEED to be demanding better from our providers and the system. Listen in as we get extremely honest and share the facts. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/hestat/maternal-mortality/2021/maternal-mortality-rates-2021.htm
Listen in as we discuss the history on midwives and how obstetrics came to be. Birth has only been in the hospital setting since the earlier 1900’s and a lot has happened since then. We discuss a lot in this episode from unfair laws to Twilight Sleep so listen in!
