Description

Bookends Podcast is a book review. Well, a sorta kinda "book review." At Bookends, texts guide us.
Through discussion, interviews, questions, and readings, Bookends' host Leora Shlasko welcomes guests from various industries and backgrounds to discuss their experiences and texts as interconnected and never ending pieces of our lives.

Primo Levi's "Survival In Auschwitz," Elie Wiesel's "Night," and Hannah Arendt's "Eichmann in Jerusalem, A Report on the Banality of Evil" were taken off the shelf for the second episode of Bookend's Podcast. With guest, Adina Orenstein-Luks, we reflect on our 20 year experience with Judaism. We explore prayers, mourning, and traditions of forgiveness. We consider antisemitism that we ourselves have internalized. In all, we confront our Judaism and what it has taught us, where it has fallen short, how it has evolved, and what we still ache to learn.
Angie Thomas' "The Hate U Give," Albert Camus' "The Stranger," and Kamel Daoud's "The Meursault Investigation" were taken off the shelf for our pilot episode. With a featured guest and our host, we talk about POC experiences whilst also reflecting upon erasure, inclusivity, growth, and resilience in PWIs.
