It's often said that any new competition is a great thing as it boosts innovation and drives prices down, so today I'm very excited to sit down with André Eriksen, the Founder and CEO of Asetek and discuss their big plans in the Simulation space! Asetek have their roots in enthusiast level PC cooling with André's invention of the Vapochill phase change CPU cooler back in the early 2000's, and since then have grown to supply some of the largest OEMS in the computer industry. They also have a rich herritage in motorsport, so combined with their large scale manufacturing capacity, their move into the simulation space is very exciting! Thanks very much to André for taking thew time to sit down with me. You can also catch him and his crew at the 2121 ADAC conference where Asetek SimSports will be teaming up with Phoenix Racing. Check out the Asetek SimSports website HERE: https://tinyurl.com/asetek
Heusinkveld are somewhat of a household name when it comes to high-end sim racing gear. Their Ultimate pedals have been in the market for the better part of a decade. The recent release of the revised Ultimate+ pedals, as well as an upgrade kit for existing Ultimate owners sees the product refined further, with updated hardware as well as exciting new Smart Control software. So let's take a look and see if these are the pedals for you!
Those of you who have been following this channel for a while now will know I’ve sunk more hours than I care to admit into Codemasters previous offerings, but as I’ve progressed through my sim racing journey and into more high-end hardware, the lack of perspective corrected triple screen or VR support has meant I don’t spend as much time in these games as I used to. None the less, every time a new title drops, I’m always excited to see what improvements have been made. So, let’s dive in today and see how F1 2021, the first F1 title since EA’s takeover stacks up!
Today we're taking a look at B.J. Sim Racing's newly released 1000psi Hydraulic GT Pedals. These are the lowest cost hydraulic pedals we've tested to date by quite some margin, so let's see how they stack up against the competition!
When it comes to sim racing pedals, everyone has their preferences. So much of what makes a good set of pedals ultimately boils down to subjectivity. That said, there are some elements which are fundamental to a "good" set of pedals from a design perspective. Meca's Cup 1 Sim Racing Pedals have been on the market for a while now and seem to have established a good reputation among sim racers. So let's put them to the test and see how they stack up! Thanks to Meca Sim Hardware for sending these to us for review.
Today we're very excited to be sharing with you our first detailed hands on look at the Fanatec CSL Pedals and CSL Pedal Clutch Kit! The aim today is to use this pre-production sample answer as many questions as we comfortably can, and arm you with as clear a picture as possible prior to reviewing the final production version.
Today we're very excited to be sharing with you our first detailed hands on look at the Fanatec CSL DD! There has been a massive amount of hype surrounding this product, and thanks to your support we have been selected to be one of the first to put it to the test and share our opinions. The aim today is to use this pre-production sample answer as many questions as we comfortably can, and arm you with as clear a picture as possible prior to reviewing the final production version. We’ll be taking a look at the experience with the standard 5NM rated power supply, as well as the upgraded Boost Kit 180 which unlocks the CSL DD’s full potential of 8NM. We’ll take a look at the driving experience when mounted on the same high end cockpit we use for all our other wheel base reviews, as well as some cheaper mounting options, along with the optional Table Clamp Accessory to determine if the CSL DD is worth it for those not ready to step up to a more expensive cockpit, and of course compare the driving experience based on our personal experience to that of some other common wheel bases including Fanatec’s CSL Elite, ClubSport WheelBase 2.5 and of course the Podium DD1 and DD2, as well as some other relevant wheelbases from other brands. We’ll also spend some time explaining some of the terms you’ve no doubt heard being referenced such as Direct Drive, Fidelity and Dynamic Range. By the end of this article, our hope is you’ll have a clearer picture of whether or not the CSL DD is right for you!

Fanatec recently announced the cheapest (by a long shot) Direct Drive Sim Racing Wheel Base to hit the market yet, and boy has it generated some hype! So let’s take a look at the announcement, distil the contained information, and set some realistic expectations in the lead up to the release of this exciting new product.
The Alpha is a 15NM Direct Drive Sim Racing Wheel Base from Chinese manufacturer Simagic. Depending on where you live, price wise it sits in the same ballpark as the Fanatec DD1, Simucube 2 Sport and VRS Direct Force Pro, so lets take a detailed look and see how the Simagic Alpha performs. We'll take you through a detailed look at the hardware including the servo motor, quick release and wheels, discuss customer support and the importance of choosing a good distributor, then take a look at the software and configuration, then go for a drive in iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa, Automobilista 2, F1 2020 and Dirt Rally 2.0. Thanks to https://www.simrigs.com/ for sending us the unit for review.
In the past year we've seen a massive increase in interest when it comes to Sim Racing. This has been awesome in many ways, but frustrating in others. I've been thinking a lot about how sim racing has evolved over the past year and I think many of the frustrations we see playing out boil down to one pretty simple thing. So let's have a chat about what I think is the biggest challenge facing Sim Racing in 2021 and how we can all do our bit to improve the experience for everyone!
"Direct Drive" has become somewhat of a buzzword within the Sim Racing industry in recent years as we've seen wheel base technology come in leaps and bounds. What was once a complex and convoluted technology reserved only for those with deep pockets and high levels of patience is becoming more and more accessible to the everyday sim racer. So today we take a look at the VRS DirectForce Pro, a Direct Drive sim racing wheel base that takes a well established technology and makes it available at an affordable price without the steep learning curve, making it one of the best value for money direct drive wheel bases for sim racers on a tighter budget. We take the VRS DirectForce Pro for a drive in iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, F1 2020, Automobilista 2 and Dirt Rally 2.0 to see how it stacks up against the Fanatec DD1, DD2, Simucube 2 Sport, Pro and Ultimate and Simagic M10 we've previously tested. Today we check out Simtag's Black Edition Hydraulic Sim Racing Pedals. These pedals utilise real life race car parts including Tilton 600 series pedals and Wilwood Master and slave cylinders and provide a very realistic pedal feel which allowed me to achieve faster and more consistent lap times. Fanatec's ClubSport Universal Hub has been around for quite now, and while it serves its purpose well, it's not exactly the prettiest thing to look at unless hidden behind a larger wheel and can be quite clumsy to work with. Today, Fanatec introduced their new CSL Universal Hub which features a clever sliding design allowing it to be used with a wide variety of wheels with either 50 or 70mm stud patterns, and with a significantly lower price tag than the ClubSport Universal Hub, so let's take a closer look!
