Description

Sometimes you follow the script. It’s carefully manicured. Time. Effort. Attention to detail. It’s all there. It’s precise. But sometimes you shoot from the hip. In between “action” and “cut” offers room to breathe if you’re quick with the take. And one of the best ways to do that when it comes to talking about movies is being a master of the cinema. A love of movies coupled with a lifelong dedication to the art lends itself to a certain prowess. This podcast is the culmination of those moments.

(0:00:05) - Podcast Tangents (21 Minutes) We kick off the show by talking about the evolution of AI and the consequences of it going wrong. We discuss Dudezy, a podcast where AI controls the show, and Will Sasso and Chad Colchin's mission to control it. We then move on to the AI dilemma, a talk by the people who created the Social Dilemma. We bring up the statistic that 50% of AI researchers believe there's a 10% or greater chance that humans go extinct from our inability to control AI. We also talk about the potential for AI to create its own version of Jurassic Park, but instead of preserving humans, it would be a park where they are extinct. (0:20:54) - James Gunn and DC's Future (8 Minutes) Christopher and Bobcat get some rest before heading to the library. There, they discover an ancient book that holds the secret to lifting the hotel's curse. With a determined look, the two set out to break the curse and save the day. Later that night, they perform a ridiculous yet endearing ritual, breaking the curse and bringing peace to the hotel. Today the Rental King and that fella from the North will be taking on a very topical tangent, AI. It’s a big topic so this may be Ron and Adam’s first bite of this particular take with more to come in the future. Is it a tool that could revitalize Hollywood? Is it the end of the world as we know it. Or maybe it’s just a way to make everyone look like they were in a cartoon version of Lord of the Rings. Whatever AI’s ultimate purpose is, our Cinemasters are going to give you their two cents. So snuggle up with your favorite build-a-bear and grab a soft pair of aloe infused comfy socks and enjoy a steaming mug of today’s Box Office Tangents

It’s official! We’ve got a spinoff. Or maybe it’s a sequel. Couldn’t be a prequel, right? Whatever it is, the Cinemasters are here in a second format. No worries, we’re still all in on Cinemastering the Universe. This is just something a little extra we’re trying out. We’re keeping it tight on time and we’re having a good time. It’s one part old school bits we’ve strayed from and one part new ideas of fun little games and gimmicks we can play around with. In our first ever installment here we pitted two 90’s multiplex heavy hitters against each other to see which one’s filmography wins out and boy was it a doozie. You’ll have to tune in to see who gets the knockout in this first ever episode of Box Office Tangents!
