This week we continue the conversation with Wandile Mbambeni. In this episode, we talk about how he returned to God, Gym being an active tool that helped save his life and his hopes to honour his parents through his Music. The energy in that room left me changed, I hope we realise that it's okay to dream and then step into that dream, no matter how hard it is. We deserve better!
Brave Moment is back with some good archives! A little over a year ago, I sat down with Wandile Mbambeni. This conversation was a journey through his formative years that led him to music. His career has been quite interesting, he is an ex-professional rugby player who evolved into a self-taught musician. He has a unique voice that has led him to Nashville to compete in a music competition called My Kind of Country on Apple TV. He has graced many stages, which I have been fortunate enough to experience. The conversation was so authentic that we couldn't fit it all into 1 episode, so we will have a part 2!
On my birthday, I woke up and ran 6km and, because I've had to heal different parts of my body, this run felt like an achievement. I've been navigating the concept of discipline as I face setbacks (big and small) and I thought I'd share something I recorded a while ago. It does get messy, but there is also joy, peace, and love in the midst of it all. Oh, by the way, the poem is by Caitlyn Siehl, "It ends, or it doesn't". I hope you keep it as a reminder on really hard days or moments; It ends or it doesn't.
As promised, I'm back with some phone-recorded diary entries. So please, excuse the huffs and puffs as most of these will happen on my runs/jogs/walks. I share some of the questions I have about gratitude, how do you navigate gratitude when you feel that you don't have a lot to be grateful for? I'd love to hear what you guys do to cultivate gratitude in your lives. This one was recorded in February, so we're playing catch-up!
I am coming back!!! This podcast is born from my very own Brave Moments and it has been such a daunting experience getting this short episode to you all. I am slowly coming back to my new self, and slowly coming back to Brave Moment. If you've been wondering where I've been, in this episode, I open up a bit about that. All I ever want to do is serve with an open heart and from an honest place, so for those who have missed my voice, I'm here for you. It's okay to take some time to heal, deal and love yourself, just please come back. I am making my way, and I hope you'll join me as I do.
This conversation felt like love, I sat down with Lerato Phakade. A name you will want to remember, she shares her journey from being a consultant at McKinsey to owning her firm and now being a Jazz photographer/filmmaker. We had some audio challenges, but I promise you it's worth listening past the noise.
Remembering Yourself

Remembering Yourself

In this episode, I had a lot of laughs with my brother, Onke Madlala. We were thinking about the journey of life and how we can get lost in it all. We chatted about what we mean by remembering yourself, honoring where you come from and those that came before you.
In this episode I sat down with an old friend, Founder of Karani Leadership, Nizenande Machi. We met in her lovely home in Johannesburg, surrounded by pictures of her beautiful kids and the aroma of brewing coffee. We chatted about her perspective on failure and what rest looks like when running your own business. She shared some thought provoking points on how failure and purpose are intertwined. Grab a seat, this will be a good one!
Today, I am joined by my younger sister, Nothando Nxumalo. She is my favourite person alive, so naturally we laughed a lot, opened up a bit about our relationship with loss, relationships, and how we learned to not abandon ourselves. She asked me some very good questions, so join the fun!
In this episode, I chat with the founder of Globalize Yourself Stereo, Xolisa Tshomela. He shares with us his journey from partnering with big brands to being a fully Independent Artist/Creator. Trusting Spirit, letting go of fear, and stepping into his God-given gift for music.
I had a random thought about all the things my mom has taught me in this life. I managed to capture 10 things, as my love note to both myself and her as Mother's Day approaches. There will always be more and never enough of you, Mom.
In this episode, I chat with my friend, Slindile Mbatha about "the inner voice". You know, that voice that talks to you throughout your day? That one! We unpack the ways in which your internal dialogue can grow or harm you. We share our own epiphanies and laugh at ourselves a lot- join us!
Our experience with grief

Our experience with grief

Last month, I traveled to Zimbabwe and had the amazing opportunity to meet and chat with Mark Madzinga. He is a well-known music producer in Zimbabwe. He lost his wife quite soon after they got married, and we share our own experiences of dealing with grief. We talk about what helped us and where we are now in this lifelong journey.
In this episode, I sat down with my mentor, friend and sister, Oelzah Puckree. We talk about her personal journey of going from being extremely goal-orientated to being present in the moment. She shares how motherhood and age have taught her to exhale and recognise that she has always been enough, just as she is, outside of all her accolades.
Join me as I take you through some thoughts I had while hiking in the beautiful little town called Swellendam. I'm on a healing journey and everything is messy but beautiful at the same time. I hope you stay for the ride.
Join me as I chat to my friend, who happens to be a Psychologist, on our experience with Therapy. We share why we keep going to therapy even though it rocks us in multiple ways. We hope you are encouraged by the key lessons we are learning as we navigate our own lives in the context of Therapy.
Join me as I sit down with my friend to talk about our journey to self-love. What it looked like to not love ourselves and what we have learnt along the way.
