Break in our Nuts

Hello, friends! We are taking a break! It's not you, it's us, we promise. As you all know, we are an indie pod, and both of us have full-time jobs. At the moment, other things beyond those full-time jobs have been draining our time and we just can't deliver a good episode for the next few weeks. We are coming back! In two months! With brand new episodes! Meanwhile, listen to our previous ones, stay safe, take care of yourself and each other and remember we love you! As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielienski for our graphic design and the essential workers keeping us safe. And you, our beautiful, brilliant listeners
Hey, friends! It's Pride Month *everywhere* and Larissa has finally been able to do an episode on the date of something! This week we talk about João W. Nery, trans activist in Brazil and first man to receive gender confirmation in Brazil, and his importance in ensuring the rights of trans people to have access to adequate identification that doesn't misidentify them. As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for our graphic design and all the essential workers out there, keeping us safe. A special thanks to all who have fought and are fighting for LGBTQI+ rights all over the world.
Hi, friends! Sorry we're late! This week we had a wonderful guest, translation expert Justine Houyaux! And when we have cool people on the pod, of course, we like to make them play a silly game! So Larissa rounded up a bunch of Brazilian expressions and asked Justine to guess what they meant - Gareth gave his best shot? As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielisnki for our graphic design and the essential workers out there keeping us safe!
Hi, friends! This week we discuss Eurovision and Brazilian corruption (yes, again!). I mean, not as connected things, although there are some parallels? Anyway, hopefully we've exhausted the topic of corruption for the time being. As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielisnki for the graphic design and the essential workers for keeping us safe.
Hi, friends! We're so sorry we were gone last week, with no warning! Totally Larissa's fault! We hope you are safe and well. This week we continue talking about corruption and other crimes, as police violence continues being awful in Brazil against black people. So, content warning for the final minutes of the episode, ok? As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for our graphic design and all the essential workers out there, keeping us safe.
Hi, everyone! Yeah, bit late again, so sorry. This week we have a bit of history, talking about how Petrobrás was founded and has made Brazil 8th in oil production in the world, and how it ends up part of daily politics in Brazil, including the Car Wash operation. As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielisnki for the graphic design and the essential workers out there keeping us safe.

Hi, friends! We're behind this week as Gareth was a bit under the weather. He's all fine now and celebrating his birthday! In this episode, we ramble on about Neelix, Scott Bakula and, of course, the cancellation of the Brazilian Census. As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielisnki for our graphic design, and the essential workers who keep us safe. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GARETH!
Hello, everyone! This week we wanted to go light and fluffy - but this is still (mostly) a Brazilian politics podcast, so we just went for lowbrow comedy instead.  Enjoy the Bizarro Bills of Brazil! Never will a night's sleep be peaceful because now you'll have these babies to keep you up at night! As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for our graphic design and the essential workers out there, keeping us safe.
Hello, friends! This week, Gareth finishes the riveting story of Owain Glyndwr and the last battle of the Welsh against the English! And, for our one year anniversary (!!!) we opened our very own RedBubble shop! Ain't that cool??? For now, it's just the logo on a sticker, magnet, and pin options, but we'll branch out soon enough. Let us know what you'd like to see! More than ever we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for the graphic design, and all the essential workers out there, keeping us safe.
Hello, everyone! This week's episode is a Welsh Nuts episode, the story of the last stand of the Welsh against the English!  And it's only part 1, so stay tuned! As our one year anniversary is upon us we wanna thank you for your friendship and support. We do this out of love and the love we get back means everything to us! As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for the graphic design, and all the essential workers out there, keeping us safe.
Hi, friends! So, for this week, Larissa and Gareth decided to torture themselves by watching the Netflix docu-series (ugh) 'Killer Ratings'. We did it out of love, so now you don't have to! The series is a poor attempt to document the (alleged) crimes of Wallace Souza and his ring, killing drug dealers so they could then drug deal and using the images of the killings to bump up Souza's crime-fighting TV show. It was definitely a bad effort in displaying the worst of Brazil. So, thanks, guys. As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for the graphic design and all the essential workers out there, keeping us safe. And a special thanks to the Butantan Institute for starting phases 1 and 2 trials of a fully Brazilian vaccine, on track to helping millions. The best of Brazil right there.
Hi, friends! This was supposed to be a quick updated on Lula's situation and it turned into a deep dive into the last 20-ish years of Brazilian history! With the TARDIS stopping by 1989 and 1994 for a look-see. So, go do your laundry, deep clean the bathroom and kitchen, sort out the meal plan for the week, 'cause we'll keep you company! Next week we're gonna talk about Netflix's docu-series 'Killer Ratings', if you wanna have a look at that and have ALL THE OPINIONS! As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for our graphic design, and the essential workers keep all of us safe. And you, our lovely listener.
Hello, everyone! Finally, we are back with part 2 of our episode on Carnaval and politics!  Very sorry for Gareth's technical difficulties. Anyway, today we talk marchinhas and how they often take political meaning in hilarious ways.  As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for the graphic design and all the essential workers out there keeping us safe.
Hi, everyone! Happy weekend! For this episode we dive into to the Free Brazil Movement, or MBL, an extreme right-wing organisation that is linked to other organisations that are funded by the Koch brothers. Well, Koch brother now. Rising out of nowhere in late 2013, the MBL was a major player in gathering popular support for the coup against President Dilma Rousseff and it's still a major player in the distribution of fake news in Brazil. We also talked about the proper disposal of wipes. In the bin, people! We'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for our graphic design and all the essential workers out there, keeping us safe.
Hello, everyone! Sorry we're a bit late! This week Larissa and Gareth talk about Gareth's possible alien heritage, the Brazilian Federation for Female Progress, and its leader Bertha Lutz. And Larissa makes a big announcement (that everyone possibly already knows)! Watch out for the volume at the beginning, ok?  We'd also like to thank Uoster Zielinski for  our graphic design and all the essential workers out there, keeping us  safe. And you, our wonderful listeners!
Hi, everyone! Because the world is weird, Larissa might soon be moving to Wales! With that in mind, Gareth decided to torture her with questions he knew she couldn't answer and badger her into the above title for which she found a suitable compromise. This pub quiz in no way reflect Larissa's abilities and she was NOT allowed to study for it. Also listen for weird Brazilian news, like the woman tried to crowdfund with the whole country to buy off federal deputies into voting for an impeachment. Thank you for listening! We'd also like to thank Uoster Zielinski for our graphic design and all the essential workers out there, keeping us safe.
Hey, everyone! Welcome to this week's episode! On this episode we talk about international celebrities that decided, for better or worse, to meddle in Brazilian politics! And, for some reason, Jeb Bush (please clap).  Check out our website later for shownotes!  We'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for the graphic design and all the essential workers out there, keeping us safe. #stayhome #vaccinationsrule
Hi, friends! Sorry we're late! This week was supposed to be a simple state-themed episode. But then there was a coup attempt in the United States, so the if you're sick of hearing about it, just jump to the mid-point of the episode. Listen to the whole thing to get some good, old-fashioned Larissa rants. Also, since the recording of the episode, the situation with the pandemic in Amazonas has become more dire. People are lining up for oxygen, and dying without it. Bolsonaro has blamed the state for not handing out hidroxicloroquine and ivermectin, drugs known to have no effect on Covid-19. So, that's the latest. There are possibilities for international donations, which we'll add to our show notes (even though the government should be the one doing it). As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for out graphic design and all essential workers out there, keeping us safe.
Hey, friends! We're back! And better than ever! On this episode we discuss a woman who does NOT predict the future with aspargus and some Welsh attempts at preserving their culture intact in South America. We missed this so much! As always, we'd like to thank Uoster Zielinski for our graphic design, and all the essential workers out there, keeping us safe. Sending a special shout out to everyone working on the vaccines, research, distribution, application, voluteering! You're all amazing.
Hello, friends! We got a nice, light topic this weekend. As David Tennant cracks jokes for the BBC about the genocide going on in Brazil due to the mismanagement of the pandemic, a joke that would never have happened about the United States, it becomes obvious that updating our audience with actual data is definitely of the highest order. We talk current numbers, vaccination obstacles, the 4th health minister, the Parliamentary Commission for Inquiry, and the day when Brazil vaccinated 18 million children in one go against polio. As always, we wanna thank Uoster Zielinski for the graphic design, and all the essential workers keeping us safe. To the staff working on the vaccine at the Federal University of Minas Gerais: good luck and may all the gods and goddesses bless you. To the people who are packaging or making deliveries so that the rest of us can stay home: we have no words. May the world be kind to you.
