Shayne Bowman from Film Schlubs and Heisenberg Chronicals fame as well as Eric Wahlquist of Personal Arrogants and Direct infamy join A.Ron to discuss the pro/fan edit of Breaking Bad that was dropped on the Internet last week. It reduces one of the greatest television shows in history to a single two hour long movie. What works, what doesn’t, how we’d do it better, and much more are covered. We’re back, bitches! It’s summer, and I’m sure everyone is missing their Breaking Bad fix. Well cheer up, because Jim and A.Ron are here to re-watch the whole first season with you! Each Thursday we’ll be recapping and reviewing a new episode. Follow along with us and pitch in on the feedback!
This week we discuss the hour long pilot episode, creatively called “Pilot”. We talk sad b-day hand jobs, Hank’s gun handling, Walt Jr’s love affair with breakfast, and divulge some behind the scenes info on the casting and production process. We consider some light feedback, and then get into the spoiler section where we highlight some foreshadowing and call backs that the Villigan is so famous for!
If you’re dying for a deeper dive, check out the Heisenberg Chronicles companion piece for our re-watch podcast!

Our re-watch of season one rolls on, this time for episode 104, “Cancer Man”. Here is where BrBa slows down to catch it’s breath, and add some extra dimensions to players such as Jesse, Walt Jr, and Hank. We talk about pacing, talk about Skyler’s likability and Walt’s hostility, as well as why it’s so satisfying to see a blue tooth douche in a convertible BMW get a bit of justice.
* ABQ Breaking Bad Fan Fast! November 7-8, join me and Jim in a fan-centric celebration of all things BrBa!

We’re five episodes into our season one re-watch of Breaking Bad, episode 105 “Gray Matter”. We juxtapose Walt at his most sympathetic as he explains his choice to refuse treatment for his cancer during the powerhouse “Family Meeting” scene, and yet we also see him seemingly throw away his chance to be treated and secure his family’s financial future to preserve his pride. How to reconcile Walt the every man with Walt the egomaniac? Join us as we discuss this and much more, including lots of quality feedback and a spoiler section where we ponder why the Villigan decided to play certain cards so close to his chest that we never actually got to see them on screen.

The birth of Heisenberg, the introduction of the menacing Tuco, Jesse and Walt’s relationship evolving, more questionable ethical and moral compromises, the stakes just continue to rise. Join us as we discuss explosive chemistry, gauge the “likability” of Walt, Skyler, and Hank, keep track of Jr’s Breakfastometer, and much more including your thoughts and comments as well as a healthy spoiler section safely ensconced behind our outro music.

Jim and A.Ron sign off the Breaking Bad airwaves until sometime in November 2014, but we have a few things to say before we do. We talk about Breaking Bad’s relationship to Fargo, a listener calls BS on giving Walt a pass on his “authentic” decision making, and we do a deep dive on Hank and Walt’s relationship as we play a little bit of “what if” in the spoiler section.
Please, if you haven’t already, check out the ABQ Breaking Bad Fan Fest! We’ll be there, we hope to see you out as well! Join us to see the classic BrBa locations, hang with your fellow fans and cast and crew, grab a wiener from the Dog House, play some trivia, get your cosplay on for the costume contest (and check out our guide to being a best dressed Breaking Bad fan!), and much more. Hope to see you there, November 7th and 8th in the A.B.Q.

This is a downer of an episode, for sure. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is being an a-hole to everyone else. Some for understandable, legitimate episodes, some for less clear reasons. Jim and A.Ron, leading experts at a-hole-ism, break it down for you as they discuss Walt’s obvious, desperate breakfasts, Skyler’s gamesmanship, Walt Jr’s Flynn’s rebellion, and Jesse bluing himself. All this, your feedback, AND a robust, over-sized spoiler section!

Jim and A.Ron shake off the rust of their Christmas vacation by getting down and dirty with an early standout episode of Breaking Bad, 206 “Peekaboo”. In it we discuss the definition of the word “skank”, the biggest lie ever told on Breaking Bad, the ethics of exposing a friend’s elaborate web of lies, and where we come down on the Walt vs Gretchen fight. All this, your feedback, and a healthy spoiler section await your New Year’s Eve perusal.

Jim and A.Ron break down another great episode of Breaking Bad, episode 207, “Negro y Azul”. We discuss narcocorrido music, how many theories were spawned by the “Ballad of Heisenberg”, the nature of Jane and Jesse, and Skyler and Ted’s relationship, and explore the concept of Hank’s panic attacks being a hidden strength instead of an obvious weakness. All this, plus lots of questioning Pinkman fashion, lots of fan feedback, and a robust spoiler section. Enjoy!

Is Skyler a domineering bitch? Or is she disinterested in her husband who she has to mother as he lacks any concept of self motivation? If I were married to someone like Walt I’d probably be the same way with him. How can you respect a man like that?
re: the Walt Jr. disability discussion - I think it's intention on the part of the writers that Walt and Skyler baby the hell out of Walt Jr. This is something parents frequently do to only children and I have no doubt with a disabled child it's intensified.
I seen't it
This is gonna be the first and only comment. No one will see it.
