Emily Ann Roberts

Emily Ann Roberts

2019-08-0437:24

Country singer and Voice contestant, Emily Ann Roberts joins Elaina on Breaking Thru!  "When I was in the 6th grade, I made my first public performance at my church singing “Blessings” by Laura Story. Later that year, my friend and I auditioned for our middle school talent show and though we tried our best, we didn’t make it in the competition. I decided to ask the teacher what I could improve on so I could have a better chance of making it the next year. My teacher said, “Maybe if you would’ve played an instrument you would’ve made it in the Talent show.” I went home that same night, got an old guitar out of the closet, and started playing it every day. My dad would take me to music stores on the weekend and I would sit and watch and learn from other players. A day didn’t go by that I didn’t pick up my guitar at least once. I fell in love with playing and after one year, I auditioned again for the talent show and I won." - Emily Visit Emily's official webpage: https://www.emilyannroberts.com Check out "live" music performances on Nash Country Daily:https://bit.ly/2YhLaXK https://www.youtube.com/user/CountryWeekly/videos Follow Elaina on Twitter:https://twitter.com/elainadsmith Elaina on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/elainadsmith Learn more about your ad choices. I can't believe we've come to the finale episode of Season 1. I'm so excited about what we've accomplished since launching this podcast in June—and that includes YOU listening, watching and reading this. We will definitely keep things going in 2019, but we have the perfect way to wrap things up in 2018. Our guest this week is Cam, a woman who has been at the top of my guest list since starting the show. Cam has been a huge inspiration to me, and a wonderful friend and supporter of the show. You'll hear more specifics when you listen to this episode. It is a great one! Cam did not hold back, which is one of the reasons I love her. I hope you enjoy, and thank you for the best experience during Season 1 of Women Want to Hear Women.  Show Participants: Cam Elaina Smith, host of WWTHW Videos: Cam "Plays It Forward" by covering Lori McKenna's "Halfway Home." Cam performs her 2017 single, "Diane." Cam's Women Want to Hear Women Playlist Need a refresher what #WomenWantToHearWomen is all about? I can't believe Season 1 of Women Want to Hear Women is winding down. Since launching in June, we have completed 23 amazing episodes featuring some of the genre's biggest names, rising stars and up-and-comers. Before we close Season 1 next week with a sit-down interview with Cam—I'm so excited—I thought it would be fun to reflect on some of this season's episodes, so I brought in my partner in crime, Jim Casey, editor in chief of Nash Country Daily, who helped me launch the podcast six months ago. I can't even begin to thank all of my guests and the people behind the scenes who have made this podcast become a reality. But I will try. Thank you, thank you, thank you. If you've missed an episode or you're a new listener, check out the links below to every episode from Season 1, from Kacey Musgraves and Carrie Underwood to Maren Morris and Danielle Bradbery . . . and everyone in between. Be sure to tune in next week for Cam before we launch Season 2 in January, with a new lineup of guests you won't believe. Danielle Bradbery has been in the public eye since winning The Voice as a 16-year-old in 2013. But winning a reality talent competition doesn't immediately translate to superstardom. Like most reality show winners, Danielle has had to work tirelessly to prove herself—and find herself as an artist. In our sit-down interview this week, Danielle talks about her time on The Voice, growing up in the public eye, finding her confidence, releasing her recent album, I Don't Believe We've Met, and so much more—including her thoughts on how to get more women on country radio. Plus, Danielle covers Carrie Underwood's "So Small" and performs her recent single, "Worth It." Hope you enjoy!
