Description

Markis, Hannah, Devonte, Abigail, Jeremiah, and Sierra Hart—six beautiful black children, ranging in age from 12 to 19—were all adopted by Sarah and Jennifer Hart, both white. On Jen’s Facebook page, it looked as if they were the perfect blended family, even earning the nickname “Hart Tribe” from friends. Then, on March 26, 2018, the family’s GMC Yukon was found belly-up on the rocks below California’s Highway 1. The news of the murder-suicide shocked their friends and made national headlines, leaving many wondering what possibly led to the fatal crash. Could these lives have been saved?

Broken Harts, a new podcast from Glamour and HowStuffWorks, investigates this question with more than 30 never-before-heard interviews. Cohosts and Glamour editors Justine Harman and Elisabeth Egan and reporter Lauren Smiley follow the family’s journey from South Dakota through Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington, and finally to that 100-foot cliff in California.

Thank you for caring and being strong enough to state the obvious.

no words, i come from a two mom home. my moms were always so careful, i cannot wrap my mind around how they can hurt their children. it breaks my heart . it is very perplexing, i have a knot in my throat wanting to yell at them how they can do this!

This is gross. These women are using a tragedy to promote themselves. Why these two would want to rehash this story for personal gain is anyone's guess. Both of them should be ashamed - this podcast does not need to exist. summary = 2 morally bankrupt chicks talk tragegy for dollars. #shamelessAF

Joe Hoeper Lol, I’m so confused about why this dope listens to true crime podcasts if he doesn’t like what they stand for... 👀

it feels like these women used these kids like a billboard to their "progressiveness", putting that sign around Devon's neck is just effing reckless, in the least.

Chris Brown Chris, it doesn't work like that. When you're in advertising/marketing you work within a budget...If you or your company can't afford a CUSTOM theme or jingle, you buy one from a service that provides a multitude without exclusivity rights. So, if you can't pay to make it exclusively yours, you risk other companies--or in this case, PODCASTS, using the same one you've purchased. That's all that happened here. Nobody's STOLEN nor COPIED anything.

I loved the neighbor's father for calling the cops. his daughter's andson-in-law's responses were horrifying, and the cop's response to his call was even more horrifying. Yeah, fine. We get it. Not enough to arrest, get a warrant, pull the kids, etc. YOU COULD HAVE DONE A WELFARE CHECK. But you blew it off instead. You heard the anguish in that old man's voice, and you ignored it, and now those kids are murdered. It may not keep that cop from sleeping well at night, but you know that old man will never stop thinking about those kids.

I really thought I'd like this series but honestly so far it's trivializing everything. And the hosts, as nice as they are don't call a spade a spade. These women treated those children like cirus exhibits. Stopping commenting that the child wore a sign saying "Free Hugs", we know already.

when I first saw this on trending I didnt want to listen to it because it would be too upsetting and sensationalizes a tragedy. however it just seemed too juicy and now I am listening to it anyway. edit after listening to the first 2 eps I am hooked and believe it is valuable to investigate the case and not sensationalist. it's crazy how much of a front they put up on social media and how they apparently were so favored by the foster care and adoption system. also the music is very good.
