Welcome back to Brunch With The Branches! Today we’re drinking Rose with cran-pineapple juice poured by Kim. The personality is really starting to show from the Grand baby which is bringing Thomas Joy. Kim shares the story of Sonia Sanchez as a part of the Women’s History Month Highlight. The main topic kicks off with questioning if men and women trust differently. [4:39] That leads to an interesting comment on negotiating in relationships vs compromising. Thomas poses the question of when do you talk nonnegotiable’s in dating. Welcome to Brunch with the Branches. Today’s drink of the day is Kim’s choice. She made everyone a Peach Strawberry Smash, made with vodka, strawberries and a peach strawberry juice. Thomas shared that traveling is what brings him joy. Some of his favorite cities are NOLA, San Diego, DMV, Houston, and Miami. He also has an Out of the country bucket list - Africa and Japan! Kim shared the Black History Month Highlight, a poem titled, “What If There Were No Black People” by [5:12]
Even though we almost lost TikTok, the Branches are giving us their famous annual TikTok dump! This episode is filled with all of their favorite TikTok videos.[12:23] They started with airlines gone wild, Delta vs. Spirit and Spirit Airlines Dress Code. Then there’s this funny little video that shows how white people are saying the same things as black people, it’s just said in an  opposite way. Kim had a favorite that reminds her of how old she’s getting with the Treat Us To Dinner video [25:45] Thomas enjoyed listening to the story on why you should not eat edibles and they both thoroughly loved the Women’s Intuition is of the devil video [41:16 ] The couple provided their social plugs [45:15] and Thomas closed out the annual TikTok dump with a toast!        Welcome to Brunch with the Branches! Today’s drink is Thomas’ try at actually making a cocktail! He’s giving us a Raspberry Lemonade Tequila Splash, made with fresh raspberries , Milo’s Lemonade, a little bit of Simple Syrup, & Teremana Tequila. Kim shared that planning a Mother / Daughters Trip to New York and hearing the excitement in her mom and sister’s voices is what is bringing her joy. Thomas provided the recommendation for the day, a book titled Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown. Thomas and Kim introduced the main topic, which is a combination recap of all the topics previously discussed through out this season. The Branches launch this episode with a drink, new to some but familiar to Thomas, called Screwball Whiskey. It was a hit with the show guests!  Episode 35 kicks off with Kim’s choice for drink of the day, a Smirnoff ICE Pinapple Lemonade. This is the summer limited edition Smirnoff and it’s pretty tasty! Thomas has been spending the quality time with granddaughter, Amara. That much needed “pop-pop and Amara” time is bringing him joy!
The Branch recommendation is coming from Kim this episode and she’s recommending that we think of a person who you care for but haven’t spoken to in a while and reach out to them and let them know they are in your thoughts. This week’s Main Topic is a discussion on what is the “Best” post-pandemic path to success? Kim and Thomas discuss if college is even worth the investment? The Branches kick off season 5 of Brunch with the Branches with the drink of the day. The margarita mimosa had champagne, strawberry margarita, pineapple and peach juice, and it was a hit! Kim’s Joy comes from her recent birthday celebration. She shares her gratitude for another year alive, a new addition to the branch family tree, and Beyonce’s new album release.
