There were some questions about Ohio State's linebackers entering spring. However, leaving spring there is quite a bit of optimism that the Buckeyes are set up very nicely at linebacker. The projected starters look good with fifth-year senior Cody Simon and junior C.J. Hicks. Also turning in good springs were junior Sonny Styles and third-year sophomore Gabe Powers, who are both sure to play a lot this fall in James Laurinaitis' rotation. Another young linebacker to keep an eye on is sophomore Arvell Reese. Dave Biddle flies solo on today's show and takes a close look at the Buckeyes' situation at linebacker for 2024, plus: * The "Tat 5" is calling for the 2010 season to be restored, including all statistics. In light of Reggie Bush getting his Heisman back, it makes sense. Will it work? Probably not, but we're on their side and we hope it does. Keep in mind the Buckeyes were 12-1 that season, with a Big Ten championship and a Sugar Bowl win. And of course Jim Tressel's ninth win over Michigan in 10 tries. * The first round of the NFL Draft is tonight, beginning at 8 ET. Will Marvin Harrison Jr. be the first non-QB off the board? * It is slim pickings in the transfer portal right now. The best offensive tackle in the portal is Andrew Chamblee from Arkansas, who started eight games as a redshirt freshman in 2023 at left tackle and earned SEC All-Freshman honors. He was a 4-star prospect coming out of high school (No. 18 OT, No. 204 overall prospect in 2022 class, per 247Sports) but is ranked as a 3-star in the transfer portal. 247Sports ranks him as just the No. 22 OT and the No. 445 overall player to enter the portal since the end of the 2023 season. Do we think he would be an automatic upgrade compared to OSU's current tackles? Yeah, probably not. All of that and more is coming your way on the Thursday 5ish. We talk a lot about Ohio State's quarterbacks on today's show as Matt Baxendell joins Dave Biddle. How confident are we that Will Howard will be the Buckeyes' starter and perform well? If Howard is the starter, it seems likely that another quarterback will transfer. Who might that be? Or is there a legit chance all five scholarship QBs stick around for the 2024 season? Also, are the Buckeyes looking to add an offensive tackle via the transfer portal. Will they find one? On Tuesday, The Athletic quoted several anonymous NFL scouts who say they prefer Malik Nabers over Marvin Harrison Jr. in tomorrow's NFL Draft. Heresy? Or is there something to this? All of that and more is coming your way on the Wednesday 5ish.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. The future is so bright we gotta we (goodr) shades. We are talking quarterback and Ohio State, of course. Currently, the Buckeyes QB is an overflow talent situation and we are monitoring ... closely.  On display this past weekend down the street from The Shoe at Upper Arlington High, the younger signal callers took the stage. Ohio ... QBs ... big stage ... must be time for future Buckeye Tavien St. Clair. The Class of 2025 star earned an Elite 11 invite with Bill Kurelic and other celebrities in attendance. We dive deep on QBs and a lot more with The Dean and the birthday boy - Mark Porter. Spend 5ish with us this a.m., 'Nutters! It is NFL Draft week and that is cause for celebration. It will be a light year for Ohio State's standards with perhaps just five Buckeyes hearing their names called this week. However, that is perfectly fine with us because it means a bunch of guys came back who would have at least been second-day (second-third round) picks. Speaking of all those guys coming back, just how many OSU players will be drafted next year? If we set the over/under at 12.5, which way are you rolling? Also, center Felix Okpara is taking his basketball and going ... well ... not home. But he has decided Ohio State will no longer be his home as he entered the transfer portal yesterday. What led up to this? What do we think of the job that Jake Diebler is doing overall thus far? We close the show talking about Ohio State quarterback Will Howard. The more film we watch of him, the more impressed we are with his pocket presence. Dan Rubin and Dave Biddle discuss all of that and more on the Monday 5ish. What did we learn about Ohio State's 2024 football team during spring ball? How do we feel about the Buckeyes heading into this season? Also, the transfer portal has been very quiet for OSU thus far. With heavy emphasis on the last two words of the previous sentence. Jonah Booker and Dave Biddle discuss that in detail on the Friday 5ish. It used to be a real easy answer. The question: Which state produces the best Division I football talent? It was always Florida, California and Texas. And those states still produce a ton of talent. But right now the state boasting the BEST talent is Georgia. And wouldn't ya know, Ohio State is doing work in the Bulldogs' backyard. Bill Kurelic and Mark Porter are here to dive deep on four elite Georgians that visited Ohio State this past weekend and each left with an offer (if they didn't have one already). Also, in honor of Devin Sanchez officially shutting down his recruitment, we show you why it's worth being totally geeked about the Houston, Texas native. Spend 5ish with us this a.m., 'Nutters! The Dean on a Wednesday? How lucky are we? Yep, Bill Kurelic makes a surprise mid-week appearance to discuss the latest from the transfer portal and the recruiting trail. Is there an Ohio State exodus ahead? Could the Buckeyes possibly keep all five QBs? Will an Ohio QB head for the SEC? Who else could seeker greener pastures? Spend 5ish with us this a.m., 'Nutters! What did we glean during Ohio State's spring practices? Do we have more questions than answers heading into the summer months? Also, the transfer portal window opens Tuesday. Where might the Buckeyes add a player or three? Where are they likely to lose a few players to the portal? Dan Rubin and Dave Biddle discuss that and much more on the Monday 5ish. What did we learn at Ohio State's spring game on Saturday? Do we have more questions than answers leaving spring and heading into the summer months? Dave Biddle hosted our postgame podcast, What We Learned Live, today from the press box at Ohio Stadium to detail what was gleaned today and throughout spring ball for the Buckeyes. Biddle is joined early in the show by Bill Kurelic who gives the latest intel on what is a big recruiting weekend for the Buckeyes. Toward the end of the show, Patrick Murphy and Steve Helwagen join the festivities live from Ohio Stadium. Enjoy this edition of What We Learned Live, Bucknutters! Ohio State's spring game is tomorrow (noon ET; FOX) and we were very pleased to learn that after a brief "thudding-up" format to begin the scrimmage, that the Buckeyes will actually be tackling. Yes, real football! Dave Biddle flies solo on today's show to discuss that, plus: * Will Ohio State look to add players via the transfer portal when the window opens on Monday? * Is it a safe bet that the Buckeyes will lose a handful of scholarship players to the portal? * Is anyone else surprised that we're sitting here at the end of spring ball and we're having legit conversations about whether true freshman Julian Sayin is going to be the starting quarterback this year? We're not "sayin" he's going to be the starter, but just the fact that it is a serious discussion is something we did not see coming when spring ball kicked off. All of that and more is coming your way on the Friday 5ish. Bucknuts and THE Foundation hosted a Q&A session with Ohio State head coach Ryan Day on Thursday on Spaces on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). It is a big day on the Ohio State football beat as the media will meet with new running backs coach Carlos Locklyn for the first time at noon. Head coach Ryan Day will also field questions from reporters. As for Locklyn, he is inheriting an excellent room that is headlined by TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. However, the Buckeyes did just lose Dallan Hayden to the portal. Does this mean OSU needs to find a running back via the portal, simply for depth purposes? It is one of the many questions we are curious to hear Locklyn and Day answer today. Also, is there fire to go along with all of this Julian Sayin smoke? Sources we trust continue to tell us yes and it will be interesting to see how the true freshman quarterback performs at Saturday's spring game. Speaking of the spring game, there are still some details to be ironed out, but we now know most of the format. Steve Helwagen and Dave Biddle will explain said format on today's show. And we will close with some quick OSU basketball discussion. What players from the portal is Jake Diebler most likely to land and how many players from the portal will the Buckeyes end up signing? All of that and more is coming your way on the Wednesday 5ish. The Spring Game is almost here and the recruiting guest list is red carpet worthy, indeed. Who better to get you up to speed on all the names than 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins? We dive deep on freshman Jeremiah Smith with the Florida-based Ivins before breaking down numerous '25 and '26 prospects. Then it's Bill Kurelic and Mark Porter to talk Marquise Davis and the huge weekend ahead. Spend 5ish with us this a.m., 'Nutters! Ohio State's spring game is just five days away and we are of course anxious to see a lot of things from the Buckeyes on Saturday. Dan Rubin and Dave Biddle talk in-depth about OSU football on today's show and what we are most curious to see from the Scarlet & Gray. First and foremost, will there be any separation between Devin Brown and Will Howard at quarterback? Or will that competition continue in preseason camp? We will also field questions from our live audience about Buckeye football.  We will finish the show talking some college basketball. Ohio State is going hard after Bronny James and OSU is the slight betting favorite to land him. How much would you like to see LeBron's son suit up for the Buckeyes? Also, is Purdue going to end the Big Ten's 24-year drought of not winning a national championship tonight against UConn? It will be a tough task as the Boilermakers are 7-point underdogs to the defending champs. And John Calipari is leaving Kentucky for Arkansas? We did not see that coming. Not like a certain eclipse that will happen today. All of that and more is coming your way on the Monday 5ish. Spring ball has flown by pretty fast and Ohio State will hold its annual spring game next Saturday at Ohio Stadium (noon ET; FOX). With a little more than one week remaining, what questions have been answered for the Buckeyes this spring? What questions remain unanswered? Do we think the offensive line can be national championship-caliber this season? Jonah Booker and Dave Biddle tackle that and much more on the Friday 5ish. We have a new running backs coach in Carlos Locklyn.  Did he bring any recruiting faves from his Oregon stint to the table? He did.  Does Locklyn have a bead on backs that were already on the Ohio State radar?  He does. Bill Kurelic and Mark Porter are here to get you up to speed all of those targets. We also dive deep on impending visitors like tight end Nate Roberts, offensive lineman Avery Gach and more. PLENTY of other topics were broached thanks to LIVE questions from the BM5 chat crew.
