the Uber "service"of sharing a ride between various people is certainly not a new idea. I experienced a low tech version of this first hand in Chile sone 30 years ago of not more. the implementation was based on a licensed fleet or private cars (sedans mostly) that where regulated by government and given license to a predetermined route across some area of the city. individuals could jail vehicles known to travel on their route, paying a fee for the ride. every passenger paid their own fair. Todd had similar labour law problems, as well as congestion problems, however, it goes to show that tech should always be an enabler of a solution, not the solution it self.
