Wow just came across this podcast a second ago and this is the 2nd most recent episode. I live in Lancaster, PA and have for about 20 years. The Amish are great neighbors. Each way on my 15-20 minute commute I'll pass several horse and buggies, and young barefoot children traveling on the side of the road on little scooter things. Our city is growing in size and becoming pretty "hip" as the youngsters like to say and property values have gone up a lot in recent years and especially over the last 10-20ish years. There's also still almost a half million acres of farm land in our county. Lately I do see a ton of Amish people in construction and it makes sense they are excellent craftsmen and homebuilders and hard disciplined workers. The pay is probably pretty good for them and they still farm their land as far as I know. Their population is growing overall too I belive.
