Description
For the ridiculous. For the absurd. CONFIRMATION BIAS will entertain, force you to argue, and most importantly, make sense of and improve upon the human condition. I will get overly-emotional and riled up about those things that appear to not matter, but when you take a step back, have more lessons to teach than you might think. Pack a lunch - let's go. ***The views expressed in CONFIRMATION BIAS are the author’s personal views and are not endorsed by my employer nor do they represent the views of my employer or any other party. I made a promise in Episode 9 that I would have a special surprise for you in Episode 10. My lovely girlfriend, Arlee, joined the show and thought she beat me in our arguments. I'll leave that for you to decide. Her podcast is @stayopenpodcast on Instagram - go check it out before you listen to mine. Support the show (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8yA4SkP7g6)
Cam and Dushan respond to my outrageous accusations about professional athletes in Episode 8. I was not shaken one bit. Enjoy the argument - I had so much fun. I still hold athletes to a higher standard, but I do concede a few points to not hurt their feelings. Loved having the boys on - enjoy the show. Like I said in Episode 1, I expect more from pro athletes. This episode highlights the ones that have really pissed me off over the last few years. Pro athletes are role models, and at the end of the day, their leadership in service of their teams, fans, and sports communities really matters.Support the show (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8yA4SkP7g6)
Due to COVID, I did not post an episode this week. But also Due to COVID, I had the opportunity to bullshit with my buddy JP Schumacher. And who would have thought - we are both dissatisfied with customer service experiences.Big takeaway: be solution driven in all that you do.Support the show (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8yA4SkP7g6)
If you are a leader and are asking your team to meet with you, do them a favor. Be organized, be on time, and be prepared. If you are not one of those things, just send an email. And you already know how I feel about that...Support the show (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8yA4SkP7g6)

The do's and don'ts of email and what your coworkers actually want to tell you with their "correct me if I'm wrong" and "just a friendly reminder" email euphemisms. We need to do everything we can to rid our planet of these horrible email-isms.Bottom line - so much of how we communicate goes through an email. Clearly that is not going away any time soon. Let's be better at it and if you can, just call me.Support the show (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8yA4SkP7g6)
If you are looking to improve your public speaking skills, this is likely not the answer to all of your questions, but at least it is a start. Kill the agenda slide, stop reading off of your f****** slide, and if you think a Times New Roman, size 72 'question mark' slide is an effective way to end your presentation, you have another thing coming. If PowerPoint is going to be the default method of information delivery, be better at it. We The Educated deserve better from you.Support the show (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8yA4SkP7g6)
If you work at UPS and would like to discuss and/or defend the transgressions discussed in this episode, please give me a call. #sherlockiansleuthingFor all those who were concerned... yes, I got my glasses (eventually), and they look great.Lessons learned: I need to relax; stop using "due to COVID" an excuse for abysmal customer service; leaders need to set their employees up for success; companies that can deliver excellent customer service and "weather the storm" will Support the show (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8yA4SkP7g6)
I was listening to the radio the other day and came across something that riled me up to no end – a professional baseball player was defending his assertion that he “would not play for a reduced salary” if the season resumed in 2020. Who does this guy think he is? How dare he say something so insensitive, especially given the unstable emotional state of the country right now. Three big takeaways: shared hardship will make organizations successful, words matter, and let’s send the right message about sports and life to the next generation.Support the show (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8yA4SkP7g6)
