Kids talking back to their parents is one of the most common problem behaviors - and also one of the most tricky to handle. “Backtalk” is actually a broad term that refers to a whole host of disrespectful responses from children. It’s extremely frustrating and disheartening to have a child who challenges or sasses you over every request, but with the right tools you can diffuse it quickly & effectively! In this episode, I share 7 things you can do to stop your kids from talking back. Would you like helpful and cool merch? The 24/7 demands of parenting present added challenges for people on the more-introverted end of the personality spectrum. But if you have certain systems in place for you and your kids, you can actually thrive instead of just survive! In this video, I share 7 tips to help you thrive as an introverted mom.Would you like helpful and cool merch? There are so many things vying for our children’s time and attention these days, and if we are not intentionally pursuing our kids in specific, tangible ways, they will eventually gravitate towards others who give them what they’re longing for most. Ideally, we want to win our kids’ hearts when they’re young and maintain closeness through their growing up years. That foundation you lay now will help your relationship weather any storm, even during those tumultuous preteen and teenage years.Would you like helpful and cool merch? So often there is a disconnect between the mom I am, and the mom I want to be. Or make that the mom I think I ought to be.As moms, we usually know somewhere in our heads that we are what’s best for our children. That God gave them to us– not the lady next door, or the woman in church who seems to have it all together. But getting our hearts to believe that can be another story. So, I’d like to debunk a few discouraging myths that just aren’t true (though they feel that way). As a mom, it’s my job to confront the problem of disobedience head on. I’ll be honest, though; this problem seems awfully inconvenient at times. All too often, I fall into the trap of being defensive instead of offensive when one of my kids misbehaves. I sacrifice the long-term goal of their behavior improving for good, for that short-term gain of momentary peace. If I’m constantly reacting to my child’s disrespect with disapproval, and correcting the problems when they arise, it’s not solving the heart issue at hand. I really shouldn’t react to their bad behavior as if I’m surprised by it. And I shouldn’t always get so offended by it, either, thinking that I’m a failure as a mother when they talk back or mistreat a sibling. Mothering is the best thing I’ve ever done. But I’ll be honest: it’s also the hardest. There are enough myths floating around out there about Christian motherhood to trip you up, and keep you feeling guilty for days. Then there’s your own voice of condemnation playing on repeat inside your head. Making you feel like you won’t ever measure up.Half the battle of motherhood is fought in the heart of a mother. If the enemy can capture your heart and fill it full of lies about your identity and purpose, he’s won the battle. The truth is, there’s no playbook for parenting; only the Bible. There’s no formula for mothering well; only relying daily on Jesus. When we really understand what God says about our role as mothers, the pressure to attain some invisible goal line fades away. Here are 9 encouraging and biblical truths for moms that will truly set you free! #encouragement #momencouragement #christianmom #christianmoms Would you like helpful and cool merch? I’ve heard it said, “Parenting is like folding a fitted sheet. No one knows how.” It can certainly seem that way these days while we’re trying to raise well-behaved, respectful, obedient and godly children. We know where we want to end up, but we don’t exactly know how to get there. Parenting experts swear by all kinds of tips that actually seem to be making our kids worse. As parents we mean well, but sometimes we’re just stuck in a pattern that we can’t easily recognize. I’ve messed up on my own parenting adventure and made mistakes I wasn’t even aware of for a long time. I still continue to miss the mark (that’s where God’s grace comes in), but over the last decade I’ve realized there were several things I was doing that were contributing to my children’s negative behavior. My desire is to help you avoid making the same mistakes. Your family life doesn’t have to continue in strife, arguments and strained relationships!
