A brand new four-part series. In 2024, Canada’s most prolific serial killer was murdered in prison in an act of vigilante justice. The final chapter of Robert Pickton may now be closed, but the story is far from over. Pickton confessed to murdering 49 women on his pig farm near Vancouver, many of them sex workers and Indigenous women. The evidence suggests he did not act alone. -----Part 1 begins by tracing a disturbing childhood on the Pickton farm where cruelty was normalized, morality was optional and vulnerable people were exploited and intimidated. It also tracks how that culture escalated after Robert and his brother took over the farm, and the many police failures that followed. This series revisits the entire case to date, moving past the grotesque caricature of a lone monster in buddy boots, and restores the humanity of the women targeted through personal stories of those who loved them. It examines the culture and systems that failed them for so long, leaving their loved ones with many unanswered questions — and a prevailing sense of injustice. This miniseries draws primarily from court records, historical news archives, investigative journalism, personal interviews and the Missing Women Inquiry final report.CONTENT WARNING: this series includes graphic details that will be distressing for many listeners to hear, including mention of sexual assault, residential schools, Indigenous issues, child abuse and suicide. she is aussie
what a joke - this is violence against women yet it largely skirts the true issue. bs
can you re-upload this episode? it is only showing as 9 minutes long in its current format. thanks!
wait. what is a lute cutical?
Something's wrong in a society where a man who killed six people might be getting parol.
They think that the siblings are on the autism spectrum because they've got "problems at school"?! 🤔
Wow, daddy is a little bit of a douche
One thing I have learned from listening to crime podcasts is this: you never, EVER know anyone. Not friends, not family, not your lover. People can and do hide their true natures all the time. It's crazy.
Well! Thanks for the cool facts in your intro to Vancouver Island! I live in Victoria and did not know any of those!
Great story telling as always Kristie. You were able to address some things the documentary wasn't. My heart goes out to Keith.
Something I never understood about men. Why do supposedly straight men enjoy sexual acts where they are getting off in front of other men and watching other men get off? These women are just viewed as objects, the real enjoyment for the men seems to be what they are doing together as STRAIGHT men! Same type of thing like men watching porn together, waiting in line to be 999 out of these OF girls sex marathons, etc. 🤮
channel has been a absolutely pathetic since the beginning of august. unsubscribed.
No mention of hospital not noticing broken equipment leading directly to Tracy's condition. Interesting.
Thank you for your candidness Kristi Lee. Take all the time you need, we will be here ❤️
enough with the hockey canada trial, its all just a bunch of "me to" girls trying to get some money. get back to the real show.
what are all these minors even doing in bars and nightclubs? I think those establishments need to be investigated if they haven't been already.
all part of the me to era, these girls throw themselves at famous athletes and then want some money when theyre famous. thank God the boys are innocent and free to return to playing hockey.
listening to this makes me so happy. cry more they are all innocent
I understand the slippery slope disability groups were trying to highlight, but it wasn't about the disability, it was about the pain...
I'm sure you don't care anymore, this episode was 7 years ago, but if you didn't want to name him, you shouldn't have called him Gamil either. It was confusing more than anything else. That's not his name. I was so confused for a second, I had to Google it just to be sure my memory wasn't playing tricks on me. Otherwise, i was very pleased with these episodes, and this podcast overall. I listen to it while I work.
