Description

Care More Be Better, invites you to care more so we can create a better world together. We amplify the voices of environmentalists, activists, health and nutrition gurus, scientists, and leading experts who seek to make the world a better place. Over the course of more than 250 interview episodes, you'll hear from experts like Jean-Michel Cousteau, Paul Hawken, Nina Simons, Dr. Wallace J. Nichols, Captain Liz Clark, Dr. William Li, Miyoko Schinner, John Roulac, Chef Babette Davis, Kelly Reyerson (@glyphosategirl), Donna Grantis and many more. These global change agents and activists create positive impacts and encourage us to think globally while also acting locally. Listen for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, on our website, and on most major podcast platforms.

Inspired by Paul Hawken’s aspirational book Regeneration - Ending The Climate Crisis In One Generation, and the late Dr. Wallace J. Nichols' Blue Mind Movement, this show aims to create a realistic roadmap to build a better future. As Paul Hawken simply states: “Global warming is not a science problem. It’s a human problem.” On this journey, you'll become the person you aspire to be by remaining curious, thinking deeply, and listening intently while looking inward. You'll discover your internal wisdom and learn to listen to your inner voice to receive the gifts nature provides fully. Become part of the regeneration nation by expanding your knowledge of agriculture, social systems, and help us build a more circular and just economy.

The stories we tell will get you thinking about how to secure the future for the human race and all Earth's inhabitants - from how you can build positive change in your local community, to how you might broaden your reach and impact globally.

A Care More Be Better Solocast with Corinna Bellizzi In this solocast, Corinna Bellizzi zooms out from the headlines to examine a deeper and more unsettling reality: the world is not moving together on climate action. Instead, nations are choosing very different paths — shaped by energy dependence, political cycles, economic pressures, and fear-driven narratives. Building on last week’s episode, The Global Crossroads of Climate Policy, this conversation explores why global climate leadership is diverging, how policy instability and “climate whiplash” undermine progress, and why regenerative leadership offers a credible path forward amid uncertainty. Rather than focusing on doom or delay, this episode reframes divergence as a signal — one that reveals where systems are breaking down, where new models are emerging, and where leadership rooted in care, systems thinking, and long-term resilience is quietly reshaping the future. In This Episode, You’ll Explore: Why a unified global climate response was always more myth than reality How energy dependence and political cycles drive divergent climate paths What “climate whiplash” is — and why instability may be as dangerous as inaction Why regenerative approaches change the climate conversation entirely Where regenerative leadership is already emerging beyond national politics What systems literacy, moral courage, and place-based wisdom look like in practice How to stay grounded and hopeful in a world moving in many directions at once Related Episode The Global Crossroads of Climate Policy: Progress, Pushback, & the Battle for a Regenerative FutureThis solocast sets the stage by examining recent global climate policy wins and rollbacks. Guest: Dr. William W. Li, NYT-Bestselling Author of Eat to Beat DiseaseOriginally Recorded: May 2022 on Nutrition Without CompromiseSponsor of Original Episode: ÖRLÖ Nutrition Co-Hosts: Corinna Bellizzi & Tia Walden This episode is shared with permission from Nutrition Without Compromise and ORLO Nutrition.  Episode Summary Today’s bonus episode comes from the archives of a show I once hosted—Nutrition Without Compromise—a series created to explore nourishment that never sacrifices human health, planetary health, or ethical integrity. While Dr. Li has joined us on Care More Be Better a few times, this conversation has never before aired here, and it remains one of my favorites. Dr. William Li, internationally renowned physician, scientist, and author of the bestseller Eat to Beat Disease, breaks down the body’s five health defense systems, the science of using food as medicine, and how we can personalize nutrition to strengthen immunity, support longevity, and reduce disease risk. We talk about dietary diversity, the joy of eating, the role of omega-3s, the pitfalls of low-quality supplements, and how modern research is reframing what it means to live vibrantly at every age. This episode originally aired under the sponsorship of ÖRLÖ Nutrition, makers of carbon-negative, algae-based omega-3s grown in Iceland using clean geothermal energy. Their commitment to regenerative nutrition aligned beautifully with the ethos of that show—and with the work we continue here. Topics We Cover Dr. Li’s journey from medical researcher to food-as-medicine pioneer The Five Health Defense Systems: angiogenesis, stem cells, microbiome, DNA protection, and immunity Why dietary diversity—not restriction—is the foundation of vibrant health How food can enhance medical treatments, not just prevent disease The rise of planetary-aware eating and the importance of responsible sourcing Omega-3s: fish vs. algae, and why quality matters The 5x5x5 framework for daily eating without rigidity How lifestyle, joy, and cultural food traditions shape well-being Dr. Li’s free masterclasses and practical tips for getting started Referenced In This Episode Eat to Beat Disease by Dr. William W. A Care More Be Better Solocast with Corinna Bellizzi This week, the global sustainability landscape delivered a swirl of conflicting signals — bold progress in some regions, dramatic rollbacks in others, and powerful reminders that our environmental challenges are deeply interconnected. In this solo episode, or "solocast," Corinna unpacks five major developments shaping the future of climate action, environmental justice, and regenerative systems worldwide. From a landmark U.S. court ruling in support of offshore wind, to the UN’s latest warning about our interwoven planetary crises, to troubling policy back-steps in Australia and Europe, and finally, a promising regenerative agriculture initiative here in the United States. This episode explores what these stories mean when viewed not as separate headlines, but as parts of a bigger, systemic whole. We are living in a moment of climate contradiction. Together, these global events reveal a world choosing dramatically different pathways: one extractive, one regenerative. Which one becomes our shared future depends on the choices we make today. Storytelling can inspire us to take action on the ever-worsening climate crisis. Ali Horriyat and Cathryn Bancroft join forces in writing a new cli-fi book, The Hollow Age, which dares to ask the question: if our planet burns, do we run to another planet or risk everything to save it? Together with Corinna Bellizzi, they discuss how they use fiction to shed light on the alarming realities of the earth right now. Ali and Cathryn also break down the best ways to address the immigration problem in the United States and what it truly takes to begin a social revolution that leads to a real difference. How much is enough at the holidays? In this solo episode of Care More Be Better, host Corinna Bellizzi reflects on the spirit of giving at Christmas and beyond: how we can shift from consumerism to connection, from “more stuff” to more meaning. Drawing inspiration from her earlier interview with Stephanie Seferian, host of Sustainable Minimalists and author of Sustainable Minimalism, Corinna explores: The Four Gift Rule and Seven Gift Rule Why experiences and group gifts (like memberships or trips) often outlast toys Ideas for spreading gifts across the 12 Days of Christmas How minimalism and sustainability can deepen joy instead of limiting it Simple, family-friendly ways to give more intentionally—and waste less Whether you’re already practicing minimalism or you’re just feeling overwhelmed by holiday “stuff,” this episode offers a gentler, more regenerative way to celebrate. With the increasing number of huge industrial mills across the country, one of the most essential parts of our food system is also being industrialized: flour. Kevin Morse, CEO and co-founder of Cairnspring Mills, talks about his mission to bring organic flour into the mainstream market and the important role of community-rooted mills in achieving that goal. He joins Corinna Bellizzi to share how regenerative farming practices, healthy farmer relations, and sustainable food manufacturing are keys to producing nutrient-rich flour and bringing value back to local grain communities. Kevin also sheds light on how smallholder farmers are facing their toughest times right now due to the commodity system, trade wars, and the rapid corporate takeover. About Our Guest: As CEO and co-founder of Cairnspring Mills, Kevin Morse taps into his deep experience as a farmer, economic development leader, conservationist and community builder and applies his can-do spirit to build the mill from the ground up. Kevin recognized that building a new regional grain milling business would bring value back to the community and farmers and was a critical part of revitalizing the local food system. An incorrigible optimist deeply rooted in the beautiful Skagit Valley, Kevin is an outdoorsman, avid fisherman and an Italian who loves to cook and bake. In this powerful solo episode, Corinna Bellizzi challenges listeners to rethink what it means to protect free speech in a polarized world. Drawing from her own experience as a sustainability scholar at Prescott College and from her earlier conversation with author Tony Brasunas, she connects freedom of inquiry to the future of environmental and social regeneration. From the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination to the silencing of academic voices, Corinna reveals how fear and division erode the very foundations of democracy — and how mindful speech, empathy, and courage can help restore them. This isn’t just about politics. It’s about the future of care — for people, for the planet, and for truth itself. The worsening climate change continues to deliver an adverse impact on our food system, which leads to supply shortages and the rise of less nutritious sources. Maddie Hamann strives to solve this alarming problem through the PACHA bread. She joins Corinna Bellizzi to share how their organic gluten-free sourdough buckwheat bread is making huge waves in revitalizing the food industry. Maddie explains how PACHA bread helps heal both people and the planet, prioritizing taste and nutrition above anything else. She also shares how they team up with regenerative farmers across the country to help accelerate the growth of highly sustainable communities. Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, are so widespread today that it is present in the soil, air, food, and water. Since they are hidden in almost all kinds of everyday products, the PFAS crisis in the United States will only get worse – unless we do something about it. Corinna Bellizzi sits down with Rachel Frazin, an energy and environment reporter at The Hill, who talks about her new book that tackles how these “forever chemicals” are damaging numerous communities across the country. Rachel breaks down the most common diseases caused by PFAS exposure, from birth defects to fertility issues. She also shares how huge waves of changes are being made to address this crisis, and how everyday people can join the movement.   About Guest: Rachel Frazin covers energy and environment policy for The Hill: that’s everything from climate change to gasoline prices to toxic chemicals to renewable and fossil energy.
