We were so happy to have Francine Honey join the Coffee House. Francine is from Ontario and is making waves in the country music scene all over!  " Hard-luck stories can have happy endings. Especially in Francine Honey’s world. The bilingual Ontario singer-songwriter’s third album To Be Continued… features tales of heartache and struggle, loss and crisis — many drawn from her own life. Along the way, the down-to-earth performer also shares two fundamental lessons: You are not alone, and hope is always around the corner. A songwriter since childhood, and a former civil servant, Francine packs a lifetime of emotion into every song. Her music has taken her across Canada and the U.S., and on to the U.K., Switzerland and Italy. Satellites in Montreal- An Adult Alternative Sound coming from former member of Ladies of the Canyon! We had so much fun chatting about the music, the industry, social media and anything else that tickled our fancy.  Jasmine Bleile grew up in rural Ontario and got her start playing saxophone in the house jazz band of a local restaurant with supper club aspirations. She began singing after her bandmates encouraged her to give it a try and since then she’s lived enough for two lives. She went to and graduated from the police academy, decided against walking a beat, joined a country-folk band, got a record deal, toured the world, had a son and raised him right, and now she’s back with a new record." "After years of hiatus, the Montréal-based vocalist and musician is back, both wiser and wizened. She has left her old country-folk sound in the dust; it never quite fit. Today’s sound is smoother and more comfortable. If you said stronger you’d be right; if you said sexier you wouldn’t be wrong. But naming things is for other people. Call it blue-eyed soul. Call it rhythm and blues. Call it whatever you think it should be called --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carlascoffeehouse/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carlascoffeehouse/support

Dolly Dunn was born ( Christina Donahue ) on May 9th 1965 in a small town called Boyds Cove Newfoundland Canada. Her parents were Patrick Donahue of Boyds Cove and Bernadette Lynch of Island Harbour Fogo, both parents were Irish so that makes her all Irish, and she is the youngest girl of 11 siblings. Her love of country music started when she was 7, singing in church and school functions and to anyone who would listen. She received her first guitar at age 12 as a gift from her mother. She taught herself how to play and country was all she wanted to do. She moved to Alberta in her early Twenties with dreams of still singing for anyone who gave her the time. She has been married twice and has one son Rex LeDrew Jr age 24. Now twice divorced and single she still had that dream but not much faith in herself. Until someone told her that she had what it takes so she played at local clubs and did karaoke for years. At age 50 Dolly Dunn is taking steps to make a go of her music career and do what she loves to do and that is write and sing country music the old fashion way. She is a very simple and humble person who would give away her happiness for someone else to smile.....  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carlascoffeehouse/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carlascoffeehouse/support

Here is a quote directly from her webpage  " Known as one of Canada’s greatest voices, award-winning jazz vocalist Molly Johnson is a mother, singer-songwriter, artist and philanthropist, who has just released her highly anticipated new album, “Meaning To Tell Ya”. Produced by multiple GRAMMY Award winning Producer, Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Madeleine Peyroux, Melody Gardot, Norah Jones); it is more than a jazz record. It’s funk, it’s soul, it’s groove played by some of Canada’s best musicians. Says Molly: “Working with Larry was magic. When it was finally my turn, I jumped at the opportunity. This is a record I have been wanting to make for years. I can’t wait to share it with everyone!” Says Larry: “Molly has the kind of musical gift that cannot be cultivated by musical education or assiduous practice. In Memory of John Wheaton

In Memory of John Wheaton

2019-03-2101:00:04

John Wheaton was a member of the St Stephen based country group " Running out of Time" He and his band mates hosted a Rogers Cable TV show called Southwest Jubilee which is a big success in New Brunswick. John was a song writer, a father and a good friend to many including me. I was able to speak to him briefly before his passing and I am glad to have had the chance to do so. John and his late wife Debbie traveled to visit my grandparents to make sure they were doing ok when they were both struggling with their own illnesses. His heart was made of pure gold and so was Debbie's. I hope you enjoy the show.  It was recorded live in St Stephen, New Brunswick, August 20, 2017 where John and his band calls home under the former title of  Carla's Country Mile. He will be missed.  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carlascoffeehouse/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carlascoffeehouse/support
