Ok I know we haven't put out an episode for 2 weeks but we are not perfect. But this episode is killer and if you've been to Buc ee's you'll know why. You do not need mind altering substance to get the high you get from going to a Buc ee's at 3 am after driving 15 hours. Plus theres more to this episode that I forgot because its been two weeks so take a chance and listen.
I don't think we're a serious of enough pod to get a lot of followers. I think the content is good, sometimes very good but there is too much competition out there that works way harder than us to get noticed. I tell you this so you understand why I'm still doing this pod. Not for success but because my wife needs 90 minutes of free time away from me on Mondays.
Oh yeah in this episode we start off strong with what Carmen is capable of, but he actually does not know. Donny is frustrated. We then talk about giving doctors specimens (tough to explain). How to think like an adult when you are an adult is in this one. Why you need a nurse friend and guess what you do. We also talk about the offspring of a 3 nut man.
None of these pod descriptions can accurately represent the content. But here we go. In this episode Donny and me are in the middle of a circumcision discussion when the show first opens. Then it devolves into a "not happy with lawyers" story. We discuss my love of Batcaves and stairwells and then I believe we talk about the problem with comedy crowds. I can't remember exactly, that was yesterday. Let me know what you think.
This pod is random since day one. Its tough to pull off random ideas that don't stay too long. Never sit, never dwell. Slay and go away, hit and run. The random life style controlled. To be able to be 'Free as a Bird Now' like Skynyrd says. The comedian lifestyle is nomadic and always moving and trying never to be too serious.
In this episode Donny talks about kite fights where you attach a razor to your kite and shred a competing kite. We also touch upon how kids get to watch tv on the back of Dad's headrest in the minivan. We touch on deciduous trees and how to get their leaves to Florida for some reason. Of course HOA restrictions are brought up again and how Carmen broke the no drinking and no smoking rules by the community pool. Plus way too much more to type.
I know our pod schedule got janky but traveling and podding is tough. In this pod Donny boy and I discuss my adjustable bed and my short arms. Also how things you took for granted because they were free now cost money. We delve and wander all over the place so there is never too much focus or attention on one topic since that is all you ever get in life. Enjoy the pod folks.
I started doing a niche comedy routine on the construction business in 1991 which led to getting more corporate gigs and a construction continuing education school called Construction Comedy School. Tim (The Dairy Farmer) Moffett also is in the niche comedy business for you guessed it - the farming business. We discuss our niches and why we got into it and how that works in a comedy club. Tim is a great guy, happy and pleasant. He is truly from a working class family of dairy farmers and continues to be in that business while also being a full time stand up comic.
Nancy Abraham is a comedian that I met in Cleveland a few years ago at one of her comedy rooms. We have hit it off since with both of us working each other's shows. Nancy used to sell sex toys, has a bachelors degree, sells real estate and also does comedy. She is a motivated person that gets a lot done but uses her personality and humor to make it all look easy. She used to wear a tool belt filled with vibrators to start off her sex toys parties and I really wish I could have seen that!
In this episode Carmen and Donny talk with Bill Pettifer a relatively new comedian with an easy going attitude. Bill is mellow and can go with the flow as proven in this episode by his easy laugh and ability to listen to Carmen's incessant rambling. This episode is about pain. The pain of keeping it together in the stand up business. Doing stand up is easy. Carmen and Bill talk about traveling, club owners, parking, crowds, expectations, over fantasizing etc is the hard part. Take a listen and let us know what you think.
Bob Rayhart works at Costco and that's not all. Today a lot of comics hold day jobs and work stand up at night and Bob is doing great at both. I met Bob at a gig in Punta Gorda and consistently call him to open or middle for me at one of my shows. Bob is a big dude with long hair and a great funny attitude. On this episode we talk about everything from digital watches to Grok. We also talk about AI and the questions we ask it by going through Carmen's history on Grok. Edging with AI and other ridiculous ideas are brought up. This is usual fare for our show. No agenda or topics just nonstop comedic ideas with zero intention of being serious.
Nathan Wallace is a very funny comedian that I've known for many years. His energy is full throttle and nonstop funny. Nathan and I talk about stage names that I made up to get work and being a fake agent to talk in the 3rd party about myself. The things comedians do to get work and are still doing. Nathan had multiple names and talks about his father's interesting past. All of us including Donny find out we are in the trailer park club and how that shaped our life. Nathan has a podcast called Radically Indifferent that is a true breath of fresh air in the comedy world. Check him out on Youtube.
On this episode Ryan Sharp from Coming this Summer podcast makes a guest appearance without his cohorts, is cohorts a word? Anyway Carmen talks about how on the previous pod without Ryan how he still called Ryans name. Thus phantom pains of feeling he was there but he was not. Also we talk about some bad Advent calendars, Halloween candy overload and how to get rid of it and much more.
Just Donny and Carmen on this one folks and we talk about who you can depend on. The boys are not on but we still call on them like they were here. We talk FUN and what proper FUN is. Donny needs help at 31 and Carmen suggests Boomers helping Gen Z, X and Millennials as a business. Taking guys out and showing them proper FUN. Carmen was a DJ in college and discusses about the power of the music controller and so much more in this pod.
In this non linear episode we bring in guest JJ and SuperBad to discuss Carmen's fashion and his new irregular habit of watch wearing. Also dressing Donny like a pimp from Goodwill finds. Carmen wants to reduce the swearing on the show so he uses the code word squirrel to substitute for the bad one. The guys discuss movie remakes and old Sega video games like the Grinch. Toast talk happens and some discussion about lyrics of songs we didn't know.
On this episode we bring in Bean and Superbad to discuss many things including Carmen's mom. On a previous podcast the gang talked about Carmen's mother's uterus, describing it as the first place Carmen lived. Carmen decided to tell his mom about the pod and the boys including Donny seemed surprised. Carmen gets accused of fact checking which he denies and does not allow during the pod. Carmens daughter otherwise known as HR watched a previous pod and demanded that the video of the pod be taken down due to bad editing. Donny's computer has been in the shop so we have to cut him some slack and we don't want Don King Cady to cry even though he seems incapable. This pod cannot be described in this description because hundreds of topic keep popping out.
In this episode Carmen tries to explain the world to JJ, Jay, Ryan and Donny who are too young to understand. Carmen's disco days and his knowledge of rap music blows away these youngsters. Also Carmen had an issue with a comedy club last weekend and blows some steam off about it. How to look cool comes up and its mostly gone for Carm because of his hair. Ryan goes to the beach because of a girl and denies it. Jay works a sorority dance and tries to rip on the dancers without offending them so Carmen steps in to do it properly. Also eye glass issues and other handicaps are discussed. By the way this description may not be accurate.
In this episode Bean and SuperBad and JJ show up to talk about trailer parks, neighborhoods and stories from real people. Also a lot of new superheros are created through this thought provoking brainstorming edition of the pod. Lighting fire for entertainment, wearing gold watches, living in the hood, Mr. Wonderful and more in this episode.
On todays pod Lou Angelwolf, an American stand up comedian makes his debut. Lou and Carmen are good friends and have performed together on the same stages since the early 90s. In this episode the the comedians talk about the Sopranos and Tony's mental health issues. Also about Lou's use of therapy and how what you learn from 0-5 still controls you. Germans vs Italians comes up and Carmens speaks a little of both. Lou makes good points about talking to priests and about the feminine side of men. Every so often we here Donny and his attempt to stop Carmen from interrupting Lou when he talks about the Indians and how they consulted with the council of Grandmas. Also much more.
In this ridiculous episode Carmen and Donny bring back special guests Bean and Superbad along with comedy booker for the Zoo Sports Club Jeff Pfannes. Jeff talks about getting massages at poker and Carmen asks if he would get one from a man. The gang talks more about Carmens faults including his hair and how he is ok with getting canceled. Jeff saw Carmen years ago at a club and just recently again and says a few nice things about Carmens stand up. Group showering rears it ugly head again and Jeff adds new information about a car wash style shower he would take in high school. Keep listening folks.
