Description
Welcome to a podcast by a gen z writer for gen z writers! Cassidy Jackson has been writing since she was thirteen years old, but didn't start thinking seriously about publishing until she hit 19 years old. Now she's a young woman and having been raised as a gen z kid, she knows the struggle is real. In this podcast, she will speak with other gen z authors and writers who like her are attempting to balance a life and writing life at the same time. In this seasonal podcast, each week there will be a new episode featuring a new gen z author and their struggles while Cassie shares her own writing story and how she manages to write and be a full time college student at the same time. I can not believe it's been a solid year since the first episode came out and the world learned I talk really freaking fast. I can't believe you all have shared, listened, been guests on, and just plain cheered me on for a year. To Mads who got this all started and my in real life friends, family, and supporters who let me do this pretty much in secret.Season one guests: the guinea pigs, the people who took a chance on me and who have become some of my closest friends, I love you all so much.Season two guests: the sophomore season, the season I recorded and still didn't think I was doing the right thing, thank you for letting me into your lives for a little bit. It means so much and I love you.Season three guests: I can't believe I've gotten to talk to some of you and pick your brains on the topics we have talked about. The Golden Season is special in so many ways. I love you all to the moon and back.I can't put into words what you, the listener of this podcast means to me, without you the guests would be shouting into the internet void. Thank you for letting them have their words heard.I am figuring out what I want to do with my life as a STEM major, author, and podcaster and to have this podcast where gen z can be gen z without judgement is truly a gift. Here's to many more years as a podcast host! Words can not describe how much you all mean to me. The opinions are my own. Please reach out if you would like to! I promise I don't bite <3 Email: cassiescraftingconundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, comments, questions, and general feedback.Note: I will not respond to any dms on social media about inquiries, comments, question and general feedback.Twitter, Instagram, and Threads: cassjackson_22 Hosted on Acast. It's back to school month and that means I decided to share a little bit of my personal life with you all.In this episode, I talk about how not stereotypical my college experience has because I don't party, I don't drink, I don't even really socialize because I was too busy healing from my past. And you know what, that's totally okay o not to any of the things people "are supposed to do in college". If you get called boring, so be it! I'm so happy and grateful to be called boring.Just attempt to be yourself and you can go far in life! <3 I'm so proud of you!To those of you going into college: you got this! I believe in you so much!To those of us in college: we got this far, we can do it!!!!To those of you out of college: please tell me you found a job you like that sort of uses your degree(s)?The opinions are my own. Okay, I admit it, I didn't have the energy to work on the podcast or even writing once last September hit. This is me, in true Cassie fashion, telling you all what I've been up to. I hope you all enjoy this yapping session from me. Even 9 years after leaving California, I still sound so much like I never left. I'm also sick so please bear with me with this episode. Cassie's life from September 2024-July 2025 in a yapping session that I totally got carried away with. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Welcome to the trailer for season on Cassie's Crafting Conundrum! Six amazing gen z authors and some of my close writing friends will shed light on a part of their journey. I can't wait for you all to meet these six who make my days shine brighter every time I talk with them! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Cassidy Jackson takes on the world with her extremely fast talking. She blames her Bay Area, California roots for that. In this episode, she talks about why she decided to start the podcast in a very brief overview. It is chaotic, it is fancy, and it is going to be as wildly unedited as she can make it. Gen Z writers just might amaze you! She hopes you enjoyed this episode and you enjoy the rest of the season! After this episode, she will be releasing the first season in weekly installments starting on Thursday, June 15th.Email: cassiescraftingcondundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, wanting to be featured in the podcast, comments, and questions you want answered in the podcast!Twitter and Instagram: cassjackson_22 Hosted on Acast. Lilka Clocksin (she/her) is an eighteen year old fantasy author who has recently graduated high school (Happy Graduation Day Lilka :D <3) and in this little more than an hour episode we dive deep into her fantasy novel, Opposite Day as well as just high school and life in general. We talk IB coursework, high school experiences, how the COVID-19 pandemic shaped high school for Lilka, student athlete vs "jock", how the status quo is meant to be broken in real life and in fiction, and many other topics two people who met through a mutual friend would talk about. It was an absolute joy to speak with her and I can't wait for you all to meet her!Our opinions are our own. You can find Lilka on Twitter and Instagram @0ppoditeDay.Email: cassiescraftingconundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, comments, questions, and general feedback.Twitter and Instagram: cassjackson_22 Hosted on Acast. Allie (she/they) and I take on querying and its mysteries in this second episode of Cassie's Crafting Conundrum. In this episode we deep dive into querying and the world of gen z through mental health discussions, gen z and adulthood, how hard it is to balance school research for querying, and so much more. We are transparent in only the way gen z can and so we invite you to take a seat, get a nice drink of some kind, and let Allie and I show ourselves to the world. Each opinion is our own individual thoughts. *content warning: depression mention*Halle (she/her), an incoming college sophomore stem major, and I sit down for a talk about writing in a short period of time vs taking time for a manuscript to come to the writer, ADHD and how it affects us as people, stem writers writing non stem related fiction projects, how opposite Halle and I are as people and yet we get along so well as people and as writer, and so much more. This episode is a lot longer than I would have expected, however, it was a joy for me to sit down with this amazing gen z author who knows what she wants and will let nothing stand in the way of that. I wish I was like her, though different people are the spice of life and I love it.The second teacher in my story is a master's student who just graduated with her MFA from my college and she was absolutely amazing because she restored my hope that I actually could write and it was good. I just need to keep going. And so I did. And here I am, still writing and raring to go with more stories in my brain than I have time to write down. The opinions are our own.You can find Halle on Twitter @hallejwrites.Email: cassiescraftingconundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, comments, questions, and general feedback.Twitter and Instagram: @cassjackson_22 Hosted on Acast. Demi Michelle Swartz (she/her) is a host of her own podcast and I am so pumped to have her tell her writing journey and how similar and different it has been to her writing career. We talk college, we talk changing things up, we talk how songwriting and fiction writing are similar, we talk gen z in general and so much more. I call her my podcast fairy godperson because she has been instrumental (no pun intended) with this podcast. The introduction music is amazing (I'm still so obsessed) and I can not wait to see what happens with Demi and her music and novels. Please go stream her music and her podcast, they are both incredible! Our opinions are our own.Email: cassiescraftingconundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, comments, questions, and general feedback.Twitter and Instagram: cassjackson_22Demi can be found on Twitter @demimschwartz and on her website https://demimschwartz.com.Write on Track Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/4a5NQF9lEsCJNb80PNGf2G?si=paoJ4QGTQJComnHNd0VZhQ&nd=1 Hosted on Acast. *When I said European languages, I meant the less popularly translated European languages.* Solaire (she/her) is extremely active on Twitter and so it brings me great pleasure to introduce her voice to the world. In this episode, we talk about coauthoring, our separate projects, our shared projects, AI, international translations and so much more. It is a little bit of a shorter episode, however, it is one I am extraordinarily proud to bring to you all as the fifth episode. Our opinions are our own.You can find Solaire on Twitter @darlingmanila.Email: cassiescraftingconundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, comments, questions, and general feedback.Twitter and Instagram: cassjackson_22 Hosted on Acast. *Mads and I do not support the author mentioned in this podcast*Mads (she/her), an 18 year old (internet phenom, in my opinion) and I have been friends for a long time and we sit down together to talk about a subject both of us have talked about a myriad of times. My idea of social media is not being as active as I can. Mads' idea of social media is being as active as she can. We discuss social media, our names (online and real), share some stories, discuss friendships and discover so much more about each others' books than we ever thought. This is an extremely real and emotional episode for both of us and we thank you for listening! Our opinions are our own.You can find Mads on Twitter and Instagram @madsisreading.Mads' Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@madsisreadingEmail: cassiescraftingconundrum for inquiries to be on the podcast, general comments, questions, and concerns.Twitter and Instagram: cassjackson_22 Hosted on Acast. It's a little short episode for you all. I know you all know I can't talk about myself for a long period of time, I can't. It's not in the cards for me. So me making the life update episodes long, it's a stretch for me. People will criticize me for releasing a podcast right now, note, these episodes were recorded in August and we were not aware of how much the world would change in a few short months. We all sit in a place of privilege and we're all raising our voices and remembering things. Don't become desensitized to everything going on. Yes, you are allowed to go about your life normally, however, please remember you sit in a place of privilege. So my little life update might seem stupid to people who are facing real turmoil and real struggles, however, every emotion being felt right now is valid. Keep speaking up and speaking out; as ordinary citizens we might not be able to do anything, but not talking about this situation in some way seems so so very wrong. History will repeat itself, however, we won't be silent about it. Email: cassiescraftingconundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, comments, questions, and general feedback. *content warning: brief mentions of death as an overarching theme*Kicking off season 2 is Thea (she/her), a 19 year old multi genre author from the UK and I take on the publishing industry and how hard it is to be a multi genre author wanting to pursue the traditional publishing route. We talk about how publishing is such an interconnected industry, trauma of any kind no matter how big or small is implemented into media, how authors and other "low levels" of the "power totem pole" are never given enough credit for their work in making the piece of media come alive, and much more. Our opinions are our own. This was recorded in August before everything happened. You can find Thea on Twitter @booksbythea and Instagram @booksbytheac.Email: cassiescraftingconundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, comments, questions, and general feedback. This week I tackle a topic near and dear to my heart, people of color in fiction and real life, with my guest Bia (she/her) a 26 year old author who is also a person of color. We open up about what it's like growing up as a person of color in the United States, how people we interact with in real life shape characters and our own experiences, reveal who one of our author idols is, and so much more. We do not represent all of the Hispanic and Asian Americans in the United States, we have decided to highlight our own voices so other POC authors don't feel as alone in a world that has been dominated by one voice for so long. Our opinions and experiences are our own. This was filmed in August before everything happened and is an extremely important conversation to be having especially right now. You can find Bia on Twitter and Instagram @biaonomatopeia.Email: cassiescraftingconundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, comments, questions, and general feedback.Note: I will not respond to any dms on social media about inquiries, comments, question and general feedback.Twitter, Instagram, and Threads: cassjackson_22 Hosted on Acast. *brief mention of war* *When I was referring to the past, I was referring to contemporary history.*Fantasy, dystopias and fantasy all have a lot more in common than I originally thought. In this episode, I sit down with Caitlin (she/her), a 26 year old historian and fantasy author thinks working on a novel is like solving a complex puzzle. In this episode of season two, we discuss Caitlin's two projects heavily involved in Greek and Roman mythology, the difference between the Swiss and US postsecondary education, how writing is a universal language, how history is a basis for making worlds from scratch, how hard it is to find a balance of what part of a wip to share with others, and so much more. Our opinions and experiences are our own. This was filmed in August before everything happened. You can find Caitlin on Twitter and Instagram @caitlinkwrites.Email: cassiescraftingconundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, comments, questions, and general feedback.Note: I will not respond to any dms on social media about inquiries, comments, question and general feedback.Twitter, Instagram, and Threads: cassjackson_22Come to Camp Fairwood and hang out with some amazing people :D https://discord.gg/ZC8mSZqUcd (invite never expires) Hosted on Acast. Cress (she/her) is a 15 year old novelist and poet who knew pretty much all her life she wanted to do something in literature. It's an honor to bring a conversation like this to the podcast. It might read like a big sister, little sister conversation, however, we touch on important topics. We discuss being young, support systems, passions always have a human on the end, silent supporters, supportive parents, the invisible becomes seen, and so much more. Our opinions are our own. This was filmed in August before everything happened. You can find Cress on Twitter @CWallWalker. She is also a co-editor-in-chief at Bleach Literature Magazine. *slight ptsd mention, war is mentioned*Maria I. Antonia (she/her), what can I say about this lovely human who writes humanity in a way that leaves me in awe. She is a 23nyear old author who is in the process of getting a master's degree, sadly an ocean away from me. What started out as a journey about morally grey, human female characters spans talking about education, delusional males, wattpad stories and authors, and so much more packed into one. It is a journey of the two of us talking about our trauma and our past in order to write the way we write and experience life the way we do. We thank you for what you are about to listen to and promise this was much longer than it is now. We invite you to grab a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate and settle in for a roller coaster of an episode. And yes, Maria is now querying and I can not wait for some agent to snap up this story. Female characters are allowed to be toxic and human and male characters are allowed to have delusional crushes. We have spoken...All opinions are our own. This was recorded in August before everything happened. *absolutely do not read American Psycho unless you are ready to face every trigger warning in the world; we also do not support J.K. Rowling*Grace, a fourth year phycology major, and I have known each other for a few months and talk like we've known each other for years. We go into school testing, books we really were not ready to read, how trauma should be read about in books, and much more. Everything we talk about is very real and so we ask you to take it seriously and not as a joke. Trauma is something that should never be joked about at all.Our opinions are our own. This was recorded in August before everything happened.Grace wishes to be anonymous right now and I will respect her wishes and not post where you can find her on social media.Email: cassiescraftingconundrum@gmail.com for inquiries, comments, questions, and general feedback.
