In this episode of "Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski," defense attorney Bob Motta critiques the recent allegations made by attorney John Ray regarding Rex Heuermann’s daughter, Victoria Heuermann. Ray has accused Victoria of being involved in her father's crimes based on her macabre artwork found on social media and at the Heuermann home. Motta finds these accusations reckless and unfounded, emphasizing that there is no substantial evidence linking Victoria to the crimes. He trusts law enforcement's thorough investigation, which has so far shown that the family was out of town during the murders. Motta suggests that Ray's claims appear to be a clout grab, serving no real purpose. The conversation also touches on Ray’s bizarre and extreme claims, such as potential cannibalism, which Motta dismisses as lacking credibility. Overall, Motta stresses the importance of relying on law enforcement's meticulous work rather than speculative and damaging accusations. - Bob Motta criticizes John Ray's allegations against Victoria Heuermann as reckless and unfounded. - Ray's accusations are based on Victoria's macabre artwork, which Motta finds insufficient as evidence. - Motta emphasizes his trust in law enforcement's thorough investigation of Rex Heuermann's crimes. - Law enforcement has determined the Heuermann family was out of town during the murders. - Motta suggests Ray's claims seem like an attempt to gain attention rather than provide substantive evidence. - Discussion includes Ray’s extreme accusations, such as potential cannibalism, which Motta dismisses. - Motta stresses the need to rely on law enforcement rather than speculative claims. ### Hashtags #KarenRead #JohnRay #RexHeuermann #VictoriaHeuermann #DefenseDiaries #HiddenKillers #BobMotta Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? In the latest episode of "Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski," retired FBI Special Agent and Chief of the Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program, Robin Dreeke, discusses the troubling case against Rex Heuermann, the alleged Long Island serial killer. The conversation delves into accusations made by attorney John Ray about Heuermann’s daughter, Victoria Heuermann, suggesting a possible connection to her father's dark tendencies. Dreeke introduces the concept of "lifestyle leakage," where a person's behaviors and interests can influence those around them, particularly their children. He draws parallels to the infamous BTK killer, noting the differences in how such behaviors might manifest within a family. The episode also examines the psychological and environmental factors at play, questioning whether Victoria’s macabre interests and artwork are mere coincidence or indicative of a deeper influence. In a recent press conference, attorney John Ray unveiled chilling details about Victoria Heuermann, daughter of Rex Heuermann, the alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer. Ray presented a series of sadistic images created by Victoria that bore eerie similarities to the brutal murders her father has been charged with. Rex Heuermann, a 60-year-old architect, was initially arrested in July 2023 for the murders of four women, known as the "Gilgo Four," whose remains were discovered in burlap sacks along Ocean Parkway over a decade ago. Last week, Heuermann was charged with two more murders, those of Sandra Costilla and Jessica Taylor. Despite the mounting evidence and charges, Heuermann displayed no emotion during his recent court appearances. During the press conference, Ray highlighted several of Victoria's disturbing artworks and re-posted images from her Tumblr account. These images included graphic depictions of dismembered body parts and cannibalistic fantasies, which Ray compared to the alleged methods of the Gilgo Beach murders.  "The evidence that we have suggests that we have been sold a story by the Heuermann family," Ray stated. He emphasized that Victoria, who often appeared innocent in public, had a darker side revealed through her online presence. "Victoria's true self is a very different self," Ray added. Ray suggested that Victoria, now 27, might be linked to some of the murders her father is charged with. He proposed that Victoria could have been surrounded by these gruesome acts and become desensitized, a concept forensic psychologist Dr. Gary Brucato referred to as "normalization." Brucato also mentioned the possibility of Victoria suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, where a victim develops psychological bonds with their captor or abuser. "The jury is out on what this was about," Brucato remarked, noting that about 20% of serial killers operate in groups. He drew parallels to cases like David Parker Ray, the "Toy-Box Killer," who allegedly tortured and killed numerous women with the help of his daughter. Ray further questioned the certainty of District Attorney Raymond Tierney's announcement that hair evidence found on some of Rex Heuermann's victims was transferred by him. Ray speculated that the hairs could belong to Victoria herself, which might "tip the card a little bit." Victoria's mother, Asa Ellerup, and Victoria have both deleted their social media accounts, according to Ray. This move came after Ray's office discovered and revealed seven disturbing images from Victoria's alleged Tumblr blog, which she had failed to erase entirely. Ray displayed one image of a hanged person missing a shoe, a detail eerily similar to the discovery of Sandra Castillo's body. Another image depicted remains that appeared "half-eaten," reflecting the cannibalistic interests attributed to Victoria. Other images showed severed limbs, mirroring the dismemberment found in some of Rex Heuermann's alleged victims. Dr. Brucato compared the Heuermann case to that of John Wayne Gacy, who was initially thought to be a lone wolf but is now believed to have had accomplices. "There is a tendency to think that these people are lone wolves who cannot have connections with other people," Brucato explained. Sherre Gilbert, sister of victim Shannan Gilbert, criticized Ray's press conference on social media, calling it "disrespectful" and urging focus solely on her sister's case. Rex Heuermann's family maintains they were unaware of his double life. Ellerup, who filed for divorce shortly after Heuermann's arrest, continues to assert her estranged husband's innocence. "After 27 years with Mr. Heuermann, Ms. Ellerup maintains the belief that her estranged husband is not capable of committing these heinous acts," stated Ellerup's attorney, Robert Macedonio. As the investigation continues, the revelations about Victoria Heuermann's disturbing artwork and potential involvement in the murders add a new, unsettling layer to the case. In a significant development in the Gilgo Beach serial killings case, suspect Rex Heuermann was charged Thursday with the murders of two additional women, Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla. This brings the total number of his alleged killings to six. The charges, announced by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney, extend the timeline of Heuermann’s alleged criminal activities, with the first murder now dated back to 1993. According to court documents, Heuermann was charged with the 2003 murder of Jessica Taylor, whose remains were discovered in Gilgo Beach and Manorville, and accused of the 1993 murder of Sandra Costilla, whose remains were found in North Sea, Long Island. "The architect and father meticulously planned and executed six separate murders," said Tierney during a news conference on Thursday. A significant breakthrough in the case came from a digital "planning document" found on one of 350 electronic devices seized from Heuermann's home in Massapequa Park, New York. This document contained a checklist detailing how to package a body for transport, avoid leaving DNA traces, and other steps to ensure the success of his gruesome acts. There were notes indicating steps to take "next time," such as considering a hit to the face or neck and using heavier rope for the neck. "Heuermann wrote about the importance of sleep to avoid 'PROBLEMS' and to increase what he referred to as 'PLAY TIME,' believed to reference sexual and mutilation acts on victims," court documents reveal. The planning document also included a "post-event" checklist with tasks to avoid apprehension, such as "BURN GLOVES," "DISPOSE OF PICS," and "HAVE STORY SET." Jessica Taylor, a sex worker in midtown Manhattan, was last seen in the same area where Heuermann worked. Taylor was decapitated and dismembered, with her remains discovered in stages over several years. DNA from hair found on a surgical drape underneath her body helped link Heuermann to her death. Sandra Costilla, 28, was found in a wooded area in North Sea, Long Island, in 1993. DNA evidence also connected Heuermann to her murder. "Pornographic images accessed by Heuermann notably and largely coincide with how the remains of Taylor and Costilla were found," prosecutors noted. Heuermann was initially arrested in July and charged with the murders of Megan Waterman, Amber Costello, and Melissa Barthelemy, all escorts whose remains were found in desolate spots near Gilgo Beach in 2010. He was later charged with the murder of a fourth escort, Maureen Brainard-Barnes. Six additional sets of remains were also found in the area. In court on Thursday, Heuermann pleaded not guilty to the new charges. His defense attorney reiterated his innocence. Heuermann remains in custody without bail and is scheduled to return to court on July 30. District Attorney Tierney stated that Heuermann is now the leading suspect in the death of Valerie Mack, whose remains were found in Manorville near Jessica Taylor’s. Investigators will continue to review over 30 years of crimes in Suffolk County and beyond to see what else might be connected to Heuermann. This case continues to unfold as authorities piece together the extent of Heuermann's alleged crimes, bringing some measure of closure to the families of the victims. The investigation remains ongoing, with the hope that further evidence will emerge to solidify the case against Heuermann. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? In a recent episode of "Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski," former felony prosecutor and attorney Eric Faddis discusses the escalating charges against Rex Heuermann, now linked to six murders. Initially charged with four murders, Heuermann is now accused of killing Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costella. Taylor’s partial remains were found near Gilgo Beach in 2011 and later linked to other remains in Marionville, while Costella’s remains were discovered in 1993 in the Hamptons. Faddis speculates on the new evidence uncovered during recent searches, including possible connections through items found in Heuermann’s home. The conversation touches on the potential impact of a true crime documentary by Peacock and 50 Cent, which might be aiding the investigation. As more bodies are linked to Heuermann, the discussion explores the possible extent of his crimes and whether his wife, Asa Ellerup, should divorce him. The benefits of divorce could include spousal privilege and securing assets, though this remains complex legally. The episode delves into the chilling implications of Heuermann’s alleged decades-long spree and the legal and personal ramifications for those involved. **Main Points:** - Rex Heuermann is now charged with six murders, including Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costella. - Taylor's remains were found near Gilgo Beach in 2011 and later linked to remains in Marionville. - Costella's remains were discovered in 1993 in the Hamptons, previously unlinked to the Gilgo Beach investigation. - New evidence from recent searches, including Heuermann's home, might have contributed to the new charges. - Potential involvement of a true crime documentary by Peacock and 50 Cent in providing evidence. - Speculation on how far Heuermann's crimes extend, with some believing there could be up to 11 related incidents. - Discussion on whether Asa Ellerup should divorce Heuermann to possibly secure assets and invoke spousal privilege. #RexHeuermann #JessicaTaylor #SandraCostella #GilgoBeachMurders #EricFaddis #TonyBrueski #HiddenKillersPodcast Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? In the podcast episode "Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski," retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer discusses the recent developments in the case of Rex Heuermann, the accused Long Island serial killer. Heuermann has been charged with additional murders, including those of Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costello, extending the timeline of his alleged crimes back to 1993. Coffindaffer highlights the differences in Heuermann's modus operandi, noting the escalation in brutality and dismemberment.
