Have you ever heard of someone having a "God-given" talent? Maybe you've even been told that about a gift you have. But the value of those gifts is determined by how we use them, and using them for our own gain over God's glory often leads to our demise. In Week 8 of our journey through the life of David, we pick out 5 mistakes David's son Absalom makes in 2 Samuel to sabotage his gifts and purpose for selfish gain. Just as importantly, we study David's humility in his response.
Nobody likes drama. It's inevitably going to pop up, and if drama isn't taken care of, it typically leads to more. Whether it be in a family, friend group, or even church, how we respond to drama determines the effect that it's able to have. In Week 7 of "Beautifully Broken," we study 2 Samuel 13 and 14 where David and his son Absalom have paralleling situations, but far different reactions.
Have you ever prayed and gotten no answer? Or even worse, the answer was the opposite of what you hoped for? The Bible is actually full of examples of God saying no, even to some of His most faithful followers. In Week 6 of "Beautifully Broken," we study a very difficult passage in 2 Samuel 12:13-23 where David pleads for his child's life... and God ultimately says no. But that no wasn't left without hope.
You've heard of sin, you've even committed one or two, but do you know how it works? Satan has done everything he can to minimize how we view sin, while also maximizing the burdens we carry from it. But God's truth about sin is no secret. In week 5 of "Beautifully Broken," we study the process of David's adultery in 2 Samuel 11 to pick out six keys to understanding and combatting sin.
When something seems too good to be true, there are only two options, right? Either it is or it isn't. But too often with God, we CHOOSE to believe his blessings can't be real because of our own circumstances. In week 4 of "Beautifully Broken," we continue our Bible study of the life of David by comparing two stories on how to (and how not to) handle the times we feel completely undeserving of God's grace, mercy, and love.
Not all pain is created equal. The worst hurt we can experience is often from those we love and value most, but our response to betrayal dictates our healing. In Week 3 of "Beautifully Broken," we study the deterioration of David and Saul's relationship to answer one question: Do you want to handle hurt like David or Saul?
The story of David and Goliath may be the most famous story in the Bible, but what does it actually have to do with us today? The giants we face now can feel far greater than any ancient warrior, but the weapons God provides us to defeat them never change. As we continue our journey through the life of David, we dive into 1 Samuel 16 and 17 to find 5 characteristics God still looks for in a giant killer.
Who does God use to make an impact? If the Bible consistently tells us anything, it's that He often uses the most broken and least qualified. So what's stopping Him from using you? As we begin our journey through the story of David in 1 Samuel 15 & 16, Pastor Jason Baugh guides us through 5 questions to prepare for the calling God has on our own lives.
How do you define success? Whether it’s financial, social, or corporate, we often measure our own worth based on our achievements. But God’s definition of success is much different from ours. As we wrap up our series “Remember the Miracles,” Pastor Jeremy DeLoach guides us through the book of James to see the value of perseverance.
Miracles don't always happen immediately. Sometimes healing is a process, and sometimes the answer to our prayer isn't what we want. But in the waiting, it's so easy for us to forget everything God has done to deliver us to where we are. In part 2 of "Remember the Miracles," we dive into the importance of gratitude to our spiritual growth by studying the story of Jesus healing 10 lepers in Luke 17:11-19.
How much has God done in your life that you've forgotten about? The Old Testament follows a cycle of God delivering the Israelites only for them to forget His faithfulness, and it's easy for us to fall in the same trap. As we cast our vision for 2026, we study the memorial stones in Joshua chapter 4 to see the importance God places on remembering his goodness and passing on our testimonies to the next generation.
The upper room was a significant place for Jesus and his disciples, but they weren't meant to stay there after the resurrection. And just like the disciples, we're not called to stay where Jesus meets us. In the final week of "All I Need is a Miracle," we read John 20:19-29 where Jesus makes it clear that he wants to use US to carry out the miracles others are praying for.
You set the limit on what God can do in your life. God's definition of what is possible is far different from ours, but too often we settle for what we can map out and understand ourselves. As we read from Mark 6 and John 6, we see the 12 discliples do the exact same thing. But just like Jesus is waiting to do in our lives today, he shows that we can't box a miracle into our own limitations by feeding the 5,000 (and then 4,000 more).
Christmas feels different for everyone. For some it is a time filled with joy, love, and family, and for others it is a season of grief, memories, and loneliness. But Jesus is ready to meet you wherever you are, just as he did the woman in Nain in Luke 7:11-17. That's the setting for the next miracle in our Christmas series, as we see firsthand the miracles God wants to work through us in our own seasons of emptiness.
Have you ever been hurt by people within the church? It's inevitable. However big or small, intentional or not, these wounds cut deeper than most we'll ever experience. But God is bigger than the pain that any one person may cause. In Week 4 of "All I Need is a Miracle," we study the final earthly miracle of Jesus before his resurrection (the healing of an ear) to see how Jesus responds to pain inflicted by one of his own disciples.
You may have heard the story of Jesus casting out demons into pigs from Mark 5:1-20. It's one of the most bizarre miracles recorded in the Bible, but why did Jesus go out of his way to have this encounter with a "legion" of demons? In Week 3 of "All I Need is a Miracle," we answer that question and find out how it still applies to us today!
"With great healing comes great responsibility." It's not exactly what the Bible (or Uncle Ben) says, but it's what Jesus tells us through his miraculous healing of the man with the mat in John 5:1-15. As we continue to look at some of the miracles of Jesus, we discuss why being healed is so much more than a moment - it's a call to help others.
Jesus performed around 40 miracles recorded in the Bible, and it all started with turning water into wine. But why did Jesus go out of his way to do this, and what can we learn from it now? Today, we begin this new series looking at different miracles of Jesus by diving into John 2:1-11.
Is there an area of your life where you feel stuck? Well, maybe you've built a house where God only intended you to set up camp for a season. As we're joined by Pastor Nic Smith from River Lake Church in Glasgow, KY, we look into areas of our lives where God may be asking you to take the first step towards a radical change.
What is the place of God in government? More importantly, what is the place of God in your life, your job, and even your relationships? As we look at the life of William Wilberforce, we'll learn how God used this hero of the faith to bring about an incredible change after years of being told it was impossible.
