Hello everyone! Welcome back to the centered and sent podcast. I'm your host, David Simfukwe, and thank you for joining us on our journey to live our live Jesus Centered and Sent. Today, Phillip Simfukwe, my older brother is going to speak on Acts 15.
Chapter 15 is about this one argument “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.” Paul and Barnabas argued heavily against this because those false prophets were trying to mix Moses's law with the gospel and mislead people. This resulted in a letter being written to the gentiles by the (Christian) council.
Lets jump in a small argument between my grandmother and Darren (A.K.A. Deuce). Hope you guys enjoy this discussion and God bless!
Hello hello! Welcome back to the centered and sent podcast. I'm your host, David Simfukwe, and we're continuing to live our lives Jesus Centered and Jesus Sent. Today, our sister Rachel will be discussing Acts chapter 14. We even have a special guest, Kambuza (our cousin) visiting from Michigan! She has the very distinct voice…
Acts 14 goes over Paul and Barnabas's Journey through Iconium, then they stop by Lystra and Derbe, and come back to Antioch in Syria. Specifically in Lystra, Paul sees a lame man (born not able to walk) and heals him similar to how Jesus did previously by commanding "stand up on your feet" after seeing his faith. The people thought Paul and Barnabas were gods (small g), unfortunately. We'll see how the two apostles responded to this.
Now here's Rachel to take it away but first, lets check in with everyone and see how their weeks have been. Hope you guys enjoy and God bless!
Hello hello! Welcome back to the Centered & Sent podcast. I'm still your host, David Simfukwe. And we're still living our lives Jesus Centered and Jesus Sent. Today, Deuce (or Darren) is going to talk about Acts Chapter 10, where we first me Cornelius and go over his journey with Peter. We then see an important vision that Peter has regarding cleanliness and Jesus checks his heart right in front of our eyes….imagine a direct heart check from the son of God!
Anyway, hope you guys enjoy and God bless!
Hello hello! Welcome back to the Centered & Sent podcast. I'm your host, David Simfukwe, and we're still living life Jesus Centered & Jesus Sent. Today, I'm gonna talk about Acts Chapter 9. One of the most pivotal points in the bible, Saul's conversion to Paul. Saul used to persecute Christians. He ordered the killing of many Christians and just outright hated them. But he was met on the road to Damascus by Jesus and that's when his conversion began.
Without this conversion, we wouldn't have gotten half of the new testament because Paul wrote the letters to the churches! Then again, God could've made a way for them to be written.
Anyways, here's our discussion on Acts Chapter 9. We'll start off with some wins for the week. Enjoy and God bless!
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the centered and sent podcast. I'm your host, David Simfukwe, and we're still on our Journey to live our lives Jesus Centered & Jesus Sent. Today's bible study will be on Acts chapter 7 (led by Phillip) where Stephen gives a very powerful speech to the Sanhedrin, which were the Jewish religious, legislative and educational body of the land. Then the chapter ends with Stephen's stoning to death but not without God's glory being shone.
And Acts chapter 8 (led by Abby) goes over the persecution of the church in Jerusalem after Stephen's death and Philip's journey through multiple areas to spread the gospel.
I hope you guys enjoy this episode, and God bless!
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the Centered & Sent podcast. Today, Abby and Henry are going to lead Acts chapters 5 and 6 respectively.
Acts 5 is about Ananias and Sapphira, a couple who lied directly to the Holy Spirit about giving all of their offering. Spoiler alert, there are dire consequences for lying to the Holy Spirit, just don't do it! The apostles then heal many and preach the gospel. Acts 6 is about Stephen, who is described as "a man full of God's grace". This chapter starts his story of martyrdom for his faith.
Please enjoy and God bless!
Hello again! This is the Centered and Sent podcast. Here's part two of the Acts chapters 3 & 4 series. Phillip taught chapter 3 last episode and I'll take over chapter 4. Like I mentioned before, having both chapters 3 & 4 in one episode would've been a whopping 3 hours long!
In chapter 4, it continues with Peter after he healed the lame beggar. He and John now had to report to the Sanhedrin, aka Rabbis or Jewish authorities, who did not believe in the resurrection. They saw Peter and John's teachings as "blasphemy" rather than truth. God bless and enjoy!
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the centered and sent podcast. Today, we'll be reading Acts chapters 3 and 4. Phillip will lead the chapter 3 reading, while I will lead chapter 4. However, I had to split these chapters into 2 different episodes because the recording was over 3 hours long! I'll post both of them back to back shortly, so look out for part 2!
Chapter 3 is about Peter when he healed the lame beggar, then immediately spoke to the crowd that witnessed this miracle. To ultimately get them to follow Jesus. Here's part 1 of the bible study starting with our wins and failures for the week. Warning, it may get a little emotional…but enjoy and God bless!
Hey everyone! Welcome back to the centered and sent podcast. This week, we're starting a brand new book, Acts or the Acts of the Apostles. Abby is going to read chapter 1 and Rachel will take over Chapter 2. Acts chapter 1 will go over Jesus' ascension into heaven and Matthias being chosen to replace Judas Iscariot (the traitor). While chapter 2 goes over Pentecost and what it means, and Peter addressing the crowd of people to try and get them to Christ. Enjoy and God bless!
Hey Everyone! Welcome back to another episode of Centered & Sent. Today, my sister (Abby) is going to lead Ephesians chapters 5 & 6. Chapter 5 gives some instructions for Christian household to follow. What wives, husbands, and children should do to foster a Jesus centered household. Then, in chapter 6, the full Armor of God is explained. Giving insight to what each piece can do for your protection. This ones long (2h and 54m!!), so grab some coffee (or tea, no judgement here...) and relax. Hope you enjoy and God Bless!
Hello everyone! In this episode, Phillip and Rachel Simfukwe read over Ephesians 3 (Phillip) and Ephesians 4 (Rachel). Chapter 3 goes over what God's plan was/is for the gentiles, as well as, Paul's prayer for the church of Ephesus. Chapter 4 gives great insight in how a Christian should live their lives after being saved. You must leave your old life of sin behind and live in freedom through Christ!
Note: Rachel's section starts at 1h 23m 12s
In this episode, David and Phillip Simfukwe touch on Ephesians chapters 1 (David) and 2 (Phillip). Chapter 1 contains the step by step process following the acceptance of Jesus into your life. Mainly, how God's own Holy Spirit works for you. Chapter 2 goes over the divide between the Jews and Gentiles in the church of Ephesus. And how that barrier can/should be broken down.
