Description

A wellness center some called Miracle Ranch, nestled in the scenic mountains of Southern California, promised a luxurious escape and a path to wellness through clean, alkaline living. Its leader, Dr. Robert O. Young, attracted wealthy clientele with his “groundbreaking” health protocols and friendly, family-man persona. But beneath the serene surface, Miracle Ranch harbored a dark secret. The people who stayed there didn’t get better; they got worse.

Through legal documents and candid interviews with former patients and employees, law enforcement officials, and affected family members, this series unravels the chilling true story of one man who convinced scores of people that cancer is not a cell but an “acidic, poisonous liquid,” and how his popular “alkaline diet” turned deadly.

In the fall of 2020, 14 men were arrested across three states in a series of FBI raids that shocked the nation. The government alleged that these men conspired to kidnap, and possibly even kill, the sitting governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer. But is that really what happened? On season 7 of Chameleon, we’ll explore that notorious plot to kidnap governor Whitmer from its inception by taking listeners on an unprecedented journey inside the investigation. Through hundreds of hours of wire recordings that have never been heard by the public, you’ll ride along in the pocket of an FBI informant posing as a militia member, as he infiltrates an anti-government group that seems dangerous. But are they? Was the plot to kidnap governor Whitmer the sophisticated plan the government said it was, or just the stoned fantasies of a group of down-on-their-luck gun nuts? Did the FBI stop a dangerous plot in motion…or did it help to create it? Sharing an episode of the new podcast Radioactive: The Karen Silkwood Mystery. It details the death of a 28-year-old whistleblower which, 50 years later, continues to haunt Oklahoma and the nation. The young plutonium plant worker died in a fatal crash while driving to meet a reporter with The New York Times. She’d agreed to deliver sensitive documents that were never found. Two reporters who covered the story in 1974 have spent years trying to piece together what many in Oklahoma speculate: Karen Silkwood may have died for what she knew. Now, hear newly-discovered investigative tapes, deathbed revelations and long-awaited interviews reexamining what happened that night. Fifty years later, the story still resonates: nuclear secrets, threats to the powerful, and why the truth stubbornly refuses to stay buried. Good stories but bad storytelling. Scattered and stilted...if I'd listened to this first, I'd probably not have explored this podcast any further. Dr. Dante's story... excellent storytelling. Wild Boys, likewise... not this one

If mom would have properly raised her kids in the first place, free of the rampant dereliction of thought in their family, her son wouldn't have had his well-being neglected long enough for him to have "made his bed" and expected by CPS to lie in it. She's a grown woman who thinks she knows so much better than the majority of humans yet she didn't know how CPS works and thought it would be better to involve CPS than to work with doctors to save her child. These people are pathetic.

Forget about the village idiot... this is a village OF idiots. No wonder these kids conned an entire town - they grew up believing untruths their entire lives and took their freak show on tour.

I rather wish I'd stopped listening after episode 4. The more I learn about the boys and their parents - a weird combination of stupidity, ignorance, arrogance, lack of ethics, baseless and infantile conspiracy theories - the more unlikeable I find them.

I’m so sad for Roen, his unresolved trauma is ruling him. He’s wasting the life he has and is doing the opposite of living. His parents need to be ashamed of themselves for paving this dead end road both their children are on.

Apparently saying thank you and being grateful to the people who helped you is also a value that was not instilled in these boys. Too much time talking about flat earth and fake moon landings and not enough time taking about common courtesy and gratitude. Next time I open a gift I guess I dont need to say thank you because it was the gift givers choice to give it to me. crazy.
