They act like this isn’t clearly a scam. Like it isn’t obvious. That’s common sense. You don’t spend your own money. And if you do you would stop at a certain point. There are certain ways big name companies act. This doesn’t make sense.

This is what happens to children who are raised in a conspiracy theory household. Their parents are 100% to blame for this behavior.

What a loser. He’s gonna spend his whole life living in fear and never getting help. & when he is on his deathbed he will have no one and nothing because he’s a coward chasing an impossible dream that no one even wants but him.

they're not Frédéric Bourdain ffs. Running TO Canada proved to be the right thing, in terms of what the younger one actually needed. Canadian doctors diagnosed him correctly and knew how to help him. The butt-hurt is still astonishing though. These guys who were running from an actual thing - in this case the wffed up way things are sone here - are devious, deceptive, manipulative and bad, and out to hurt and take advantage. IF THEY ACTUALLY LIKE KILLED OR RAPED SOMEONE, then it would be all like "oh they are young people, with undeveloped pea brains. They don't know what they're doing. Coddle them, be lenient and compassionate, and parole them after a few years".

More proof the American "health" "care" system is beyond fucked. We may have world class health care *available*, but only for the rich. Here in America, where personal worth is equated with financial, if you don't have money you're literally worthless.

Sam, are you serious? You’re falling for these guys’ bullshit. C’mon…how about asking some legit questions about why CPS was so concerned? Just because people repeat something long enough in their minds doesn’t mean it’s true. Reporting these boys’ “stories” is not reporting fact. I feel really sorry for everyone that was taken advantage of by this family.

The story has lost its mystery and Roen and Kyle aren't particularly likeable. It leaves little reason to keep listening. The "boys" rationale seems really over explained. Yes their actions made sense from their perspective at the time, I get it ... It doesn't seem that deep to me? In a way I'm more interested in Grahams perspective of his family.

"...we just had Rowan...." Jeez I cannot abide this reporter's selfishness. He is still in exploitation mode. He is the one who has problems seeing others' humanity beyond the "story". And I am disappointed with the people of Vernon. First impressions aside, bad feelings aside, on all this time they have had to reflect on this, they still can't see past their butt-hurt. At least one of them should have perhaps sensed that there was something else driving the desperation and the odd behavior of "the boys". One of them was fleeing removal from his family, forced psychiatric intervention and a likely feeding tube ffs. CPS overreach, medical malpractice, misdiagnosis by "professionals" and inappropriately heavy-handed treatment. These are actually better reasons to run away than most.

Ugh I’m done now. Have loved all the other chameleon storylines but agree with other comments about it being an apple not falling far from the tree … I’m bored now and no longer amused by these people

The season 2 host is tough to listen to. There..... are awkward..... pauses where they shouldn't..... be. Annoying, right? Like his script got a cup of commas spilled on it, or maybe the sound editor didn't know the correct space to put between words when splicing together different pieces of audio. Otherwise I have enjoyed most of this series so far.

No surprise that the two kids who were more fully exposed and surrounded by their dumbass parents and their beliefs ended up being whackjobs too. And the real shame is that they think they're smarter than EVERYONE. Who needs doctors when you have the internet, right? I was intrigued by this story until the current episodes and interviews revealed that they just come from a family of nutty q-anon type idiots. Anyone who gobbles up conspiracy theories like these are feeble minded. They think they've cracked the code on life and everyone else is just a sucker, they think they're the masterminds and the chosen ones, but they're the real sheep. In modern society, we have science. We have medicine. We have advanced past thinking the earth is flat, past thinking there will be a rapture. There is no excuse to peddle ridiculous lies like these aside from the deep need for an individual to feel "special," like they know a secret no one else can figure out. Like yeah, you didn't even finish high school, but I'm sure you've figured out the human body, the whole world, the meaning of life, modern medicine.👍 It's simply infuriating. I take issue with the creators of the podcast presenting this family as if there isn't anything deeply disturbing about their views. I think it's irresponsible to not invite a clinical psychiatrist or psychoanalyst to discuss the MENTAL ISSUES that lie at the root of these conspiracy theorists. There is a reason that some people (usually less educated and more insulated) gravitate towards conspiracy garbage. They often lack critical thinking skills, leading to suggestibility. Both of the boys seem like they could fall on a spectrum of borderline personality disorder, possibly schizophrenia for Kyle. It is no coincidence that this occurred when Kyle was 23 years old, a pivotal time that adults begin to show signs of mental illness (typically 18-25). Roen is paranoid and most likely deals with OCD on some level. But again, I only have an undergrad degree so I would leave any diagnosis to someone with an MD, an expert who SHOULD have been featured in this discussion.
