Dr. Michele Finneran and I discuss the support that is needed and can be received with the right direction while in Domestic Abuse situation.  We discuss not just the support needed for the person in the abuse situation but the support needed for the people surrounding the person being abused.  There isn't enough discussion about the people that surround the abuse victim.  Those people can be helpful but can 100% become an incredibly large issue as well.   Dr. Finneran's mission in writing this book, "Surviving Domestic Abuse: Formal and Informal Supports and Services", is to help victims of domestic abuse navigate effectively through the myriad of formal and informal supports and services. She interviewed real-life survivors and utilized their voices to translate what was helpful in escaping the realm of domestic abuse. Dr. Finneran's passion in writing this book is to provide knowledge, give support options and ultimately empower victims of domestic abuse. It is also the intent of this author to leverage victims' perceptions, reflections and feelings...and to document recommendations for policy, strategy and decision making for supports and service providers. Life after abuse, multiple failed marriages, bad choices and so on isn't always easy to manage but it can be great even if you don't feel that way for awhile.  Author Lorrine Patterson and I talk about all of the rough patches in her life that led her to write an amazing book about the crazy that she called her life.  She had multiple failed marriages, several situations of abuse in different forms, a string of bad choices in singlehood and then found real true love the way it was meant to be.  That led her to write a book about her life with the idea that you can go through some major crap and still have an amazing life in the end.  You can find Lorrine and her book at the links below:  Website -www.lorrinepatterson.com  https://www.amazon.com/Freeing-Your-H... Life after the military is sometimes hard and when you see the things that certain parts of the military personnel see, then it is REALLY hard.  Eric and I discuss what drove him to write his new book Bomb Hunters Story - Clearing Roads.  He talks about the job he had in the military and the things that he had to see and be a part of that led to PTSD and the realization that he was going to have a hard transition back to "normal" life.  He found out that there was not as many resources for military veterans when they get out of the service to get help for the mental part of trauma that forms when you have the types of jobs that military personnel have.  Please check out his book link below to get his book and read his story of life after the military.   https://www.amazon.com/Bomb-Hunters-S... Years of abuse can do a number on a persons mental, emotional, physical, financial and spiritual well being.  You can get past it with a little work on yourself.  Paola Frias and I have a conversation about ways to work past issues that abuse can cause in a person.  The cycle is real and the issues that come from it are hard for a person to get past without some support and work on self love and self esteem.   Please subscribe to our channel and hit the like button below this video.  We will release a video at the end of every week! From starting a relationship and ignoring the red flags, to the punishments received while in the relationship then to having to call the police and get free from it all - this interview goes start to finish of a narcissistic relationship.  Laura and I discuss multiple facets of being in a relationship with a narcissistic partner.  Although the face in the situation is different, the situation itself feels so familiar.  Laura is wanting to help young women learn the red flags of abuse before they get sucked into a long term relationship with the wrong person.  You can find her blog and Instagram below:   The links are below:    IG: www.instagram.com/theothersidestrong   Blog: Theothersidelowajane216.wordpress.com    Please subscribe to our channel and hit the like button below this video.  We will release a video at the end of every week! This is a fun and deep interview that surrounds finding the real you after hiding in the dark for awhile. Loss of his first son, excessive partying and alcohol use, questioning everything he grew up knowing and deciding to make some changes is what we discuss in this interview with Zachary Motes.  He lost his first son at only 9 days old.  He spiraled into a dark place that had him questioning everything he thought he knew in religion and spending a lot of time in bars.  He was a drummer in a band and that ultimately helped him stay numb and in the bar scene.  As he started to realize he needed to make some changes, he also decided to really question what he wanted out of spirituality and how to find some inner peace.    He has written 2 books so far and the links are listed below.   Resources: livingselfpodcast.com   https://www.amazon.com/Living-Self-En...  https://www.amazon.com/Living-Self-Em...  Please subscribe to our channel and hit the like button below this video.  We will release a video at the end of every week! When you grow up in religion you are taught that anything other than just the gender you were born in is the only option for right or wrong.  You are taught that it is about a man and a woman and the rest is wrong.  This is what Sue had to settle in when her child came to her about told her that they identified different then they were born.   It caused riffs in her parent/child relationship as well as in her support system around her.  She started researching what transgender really was and how she could help her child as a parent and find satisfaction in the religious world she grew up in.  After doing her research she started finding ways to support her child with some major life decisions and still be filled in her spiritual world.  Her child has now fully transitioned and is living an incredible happy life compared to where they were as a teenager.  She wants to bring awareness to others out there struggling with this identity transition.  The resourced discussed in the interview are listed below: www.suevizcarra.com Church  Affirming Christian Denominations (Wikipedia) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT-af...  Gay Church https://www.gaychurch.org/affirming-d...  Christian Denominational Positions on Homosexuality (Wikipedia) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of... Social Support PFLAG http://www.pflag.org/ Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides an opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. From high level athletics to high level coaching, bad decisions with alcohol and choices that needed to be made in relationships all led to an amazing book.  In this interview, I talk with Author Ryan Stock on how our relationship with athletics, vices and life choices all lead us down a path that isn't always pretty.  We talk about how his book came to be based on him making the choice to give up alcohol, find some inner peace by working on self love and becoming aware of the part he was playing in his personal relationships.  He manages an app for athletes to help them with mindfulness and meditation in both athletics and in life.  He coaches people in sports or connected to sports how to be mindful of the emotions that are involved in the sport they play and the life they live.  You can get in touch with Ryan or follow him on the resources below: mymindsport.com  ryan@mymindsport.com  amryanstock.com  www.instagram.com/mymindsport  www.instagram.com/amryanstock  www.facebook.com/ryan.stock.585 Grab his new book One Last Drop with this link  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/173...  Please subscribe to our channel and hit the like button below this video.  We will release a video at the end of every week! Doug talks about what life really looks like when you are in the middle of addiction.  He was homeless and addicted to lots of different vices in the middle of his life.  The toll it takes not only on the addict but the family is not good.  He got rescued by the grace of God by turning himself in when the time was right.  He went from a life of addiction, lies and homelessness to a life of success.  His story is fantastic and one I hope can reach just the right person.    Please subscribe to our channel.  We will release a podcast at the end of every week!
