Upon returning to Singapore, she taught at Fuhua Primary School till she retired in 2001. She then taught class management to trainee teachers at the National Institute of Education for a few years. He committed his first offence as a juvenile and was placed on probation, but absconded and continued to offend. He was eventually arrested for drug consumption at the age of 16. Being in prison was difficult but he failed to rehabilitate despite chances to do so.
