You mentioned that you felt Alma included women and children in the comment about being inspired to speak by the Holy Ghost. Do you have a reference for this?
talking about the curse of darkness, I wonder if that could be kind of a spiritual darkness. that they no longer had the light of the spirit or the guidance of the spirit because of their wickedness.
On the discussion regarding whether God's omniscience takes away our agency. Just because you know how someone will act in a given situation, does not take away their agency. Here's an utra-simplified example: I know if my husband is given a choice between pumpkin pie and cheesecake, he will take pumpkin pie every time. My knowing that about him does not take away his choice between the two. God knows us perfectly...AND He gives us agency. We need that agency to learn. He is not surprised.
loving your podcast, thank you for sharing!
I appreciate all the insight!
I love the comments about verse 24. They clarified a question that has hovered in the back of my mind for years. The Lord speaks to each of us according to our ability to understand. This applies universally to all ages and all people. Love it!
I usually love this show. However, I really had a difficult time with the repeated use of the word "rhetoric" when referring to words of revelation quoted in this podcast. Though there is more than one meaning to the word, I believe it is now most commonly used negatively and connotes insincere, bombastic speech. Therefore, it came across to me as inappropriate and disrespectful, and I found myself cringing over and over again. I'm sure it wasn't meant that way, but it was hard to ignore.
thank you for sharing all of this. I wish I had this 40 years ago. I have learned so much listening to all of your podcasts and I can truly say Church History truly does matter
