Description
Originally conceived by veteran heshers "Metal" Ron and Gerald "Rattlehead" in 1985, Powerchord is Vancouver's longest running metal show! And the torch is still burning with contemporary hosts Coleman, Serena, Chris, Justin, and Ian, covering all sub-genres across the harsh landscape of heavy metal. New releases, local bands, the obscure, the classic, and everything in-between.
Two hours of absolute brutality every Saturday from 1-3pm.

Coleman is joined LIVE at CiTR headquarters by his extremely mature friends Erik, Chops, and a fart machine. They discuss Chops' Edmonton based band Mongo Doom, a few local gigs from Ruin Lust, and Unto Others, the imminent return of Suffering Hour, initial lineup of next years' Prepare the Ground fest in Toronto, some killer new music, and much obnoxious flatulence. Bask!
A tour of upcoming local shows with Coleman; from Devouring Void's album release, Blood Incantation's return, resurrection of local faves The Moor, and most importantly: a ticket giveaway for the impending KING DIAMOND show!! All that plus a heap of new releases, and a birthday dedication for a real special gal xoxox
Coleman is at the helm, kicking things off with the A-side of the highly anticipated new album from Blood Incantation, then gets to hyping up the new Kayas album and associated release show, a sample of the upcoming Varning from Montreal fest, and other sick and killer things of a deadly nature.
With the threat of an impending release from the braincaving choates MITOCHONDRION, Ferris does his best to prepare. Eulogy offered to Auroch, and directions on where to find its still-writhing tendrils. A smattering of longsongs keeps the playlist short, but DENSE.
Coleman gets psyched about going to the "Night Engulfs Life" tour, hypes the upcoming Hacked Apart tour kickoff, a Slow Death Records showcase in Victoria, the upcoming return of Deicide to Vancouver, and a heap of killer new music from Mammoth Grinder, Immortal Bird, 1349, and more. DIE.
After a few weeks' unplanned hiatus, Coleman returns for more scowl-inducing sounds, with spots on upcoming local gigs from Conan, Nervosa, Hacked Apart; the inaugural INFEST in Edmonton; the 20th anniversary of the debut album from The Ruins of Beverast, and more.
Get ready for Ian to make your eardrums bleed with a gruesome abattoir of new death metal releases from Skeletal Remains, Gatecreeper, 200 Stab Wounds and Blood Incantation! We'll also plumb horrifying black metal depravity with fresh kills from Spectral Wound, Krallice, Liminal Shroud and Darkthrone. The second half of the show features a smoky variety of occult-inspired heavy prog, ceremonial proto-doom, and epic power metal, with red-hot cuts from Unleash The Archers, Castle Rat, Blood Star and Crypt Sermon. We're also gonna celebrate a major recent concert announcement by digging a classic from King Diamond out of the Graveyard, so you'd better stock up on earplugs!

This show is full of great music and a ton of mistake through out the show and only one turntable works. I play the first side of the new ULVIK album It is so good . Please check out the show. Oldirty Hick
Previews of some gigs, new local and international extremity, and a few older and weirder numbers interspersed with the usual amount of screwing up and rambling - courtesy of host Ferris. Guaranteed good listening or your money back.
Coleman is joined LIVE in studio by former host and Powerchord brother, Chris "The Mountain" for a run down of upcoming local death metal gigs from Phrenelith, Necrot, and more; new music from Misyrion, Krash, Spectral Wound, Wormwitch, Pallbearer, and others. Not much for clean vox or chill vibes on this one, mostly just aural punishment. Please enjoy.
Death Metal, Sludge, Garage Rock, Punk
Ferris blitzes through a shitload of upcoming local gigs and local tunes. That's basically it. Listen at your own peril, or leisure.
