OMG OMG OMG I cannot BELIEVE the episode we have for you today. Hey friends, welcome back to another incredible episode of Cinepunx, the podcast that just won’t quit! On this episode we were blessed to welcome writer/director/actor Annapurna Sriram of Fucktoys
If for some reason you missed our incredible episode with Justin Pearson discussing how much we loved this movie, you can find it here.
I don’t wanna be presumptuous but I am relatively sure Annapurna is like really our friend now, which rules. I never doubted it honestly. On this episode we were so excited not only to discuss some of the making of Fucktoys but also the movie she chose for us to discuss, Robert Altman’s 3 Women.
As well as diving deep on both movies, we do our usual Wack and On Track gimmick and discuss all manner of awesome and terrible things. You know, its a podcast, we say stuff and it is cool It was an insane gift to get to talk to Annapurna and I really hope we get to do it again cause she was so fun and interesting to discuss film and life with! You have to see her movie if it comes anywhere near you! Go to the one night screening or festival ASAP and you will not regret it! Our intro song is a weird Big Freedia track (fingers crossed spotify doesn’t nail us for it) and the break song is from Ink & Dagger because of course it is. I cannot remember honestly if there is anything special I needed to post in the notes so just hit me up if I forgot something. Love yall!

Hey friends, good to see you! On this episode of CINEPUNX we are joined by our friend and yours, Adrianna, to discuss two sapphic noir films: BOUND and HONEY DON’T!
Because Josh so recently expressed his displeasure with one of these movies you might think this episode is some kind of set up, but trust me, that is not what this is. Adrianna is a thoughtful and insightful film expert and she has very interesting things to say about both films and the conversation is a lot of fun. The truth is we love Adrianna so we would have her on to discuss anything at all. I have to apologize though, we recorded this a bit ago but I had to edit this one myself and I just kept putting it off due to life stuff. Sorry friends
Honestly, when the world is falling apart and everywhere you look it is easy to forget how good life can be because the evil folks are winning again and again; talking with friends about shit you love is just a gift. Thank you for the gift of your attention to it. I appreciate it greatly. We do all our usual gimmicks as far as wack and on track. I don’t THINK I need to provide any links but hit me up if you want some connects. Our opener song is MINDFORCE and the break song is RIGOROUS INSTITUTION from here in Portland. Ok thanks buds.

WE ARE THE HERALDS OF GOOD AND BAD MOVIES, HERE TO ENOUNCE THE DOMINION OF CINEPUNX OVER THIS PODCAST GALAXY!
Hey buds, we are back with a new low effort episode for you to enjoy! Look, Josh sees a ton of movies. He gets invited to press screenings constantly and it seemed about time for him to check in and give you the run down on those movies. Now, do I see as many as him? Well in preparation for this episode I went to see a few, but no, generally speaking I cannot even hope to keep to keep up with Josh. JUST FINANCIALLY SPEAKING I COULDN’T DO IT! I will give you all one update since we recorder, I went and saw Highest 2 Lowest and I did NOT love it as much as Josh does on this recording. I dug the lest half of the movie but the film starts off rough for sure.
For our regular listeners who could literally not give a fuck about new movies I thank you in advance for your patience on this one. I still think it is a super fun convo though. This episode begins with a track off the new Public Opinion record and the break song is by Yield To None. Both bands are sick, check them out. We also still do wack and on track and discuss some really fun stuff that is you wanna know more about you gotta hit us up, that’s just the facts.

WE ARE BACK AND INCREDIBLY EXCITED TO DELIVER THIS EPISODE UNTO YOU! Hey friends, welcome to episode 207 of Cinepunx! Not only do we welcome guest and hopefully new friend Justin Pearson of Swing Kids, Some Girls, Crimson Curse, Three One G records, etc. to the show, but he has brought us the incredibly unique opportunity to discuss a movie so new it is not even really in wide release yet: FUCKTOYS!
Additionally we discuss the EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE classic Doggiewoggiez! Poochiewoochiez! which is incredibly and maybe even impossibly a remake of The Holy Mountain made entirely out of clips from dog related media.
The intro and break music for this episode come from two of Justin’s recent projects, Deaf Club and All Leather, and we hope you dig them. Of course, on top of our discussion of these two films we also have all our usual shit talking and shenanigans we hope you enjoy. Huge thanks to the director of Fucktoys, Annapurna Sriram for allowing us to watch a screener of the film for discussion. Huge thanks as well to Justin Pearson for being such a fun, interesting, and gracious guest. It is great when you get the opportunity to interact with someone whose work you respect and discover they are also a great person!

CINEPUNX IS BACK WITH ANOTHER EXCITING, RIVETING, EXPLOSIVE and of course SWEATY EPISODE! Here. on episode 206 we burst into your eardrums to take our first tentative steps into the films of Ringo Lam, classic Hong Kong director. We begin this journey with two films in a thematic trilogy but for some reason skipping the second film in that trilogy by discussing City on Fire and School on Fire. While I have some experience with these kinds of films I had never explored Lam’s specific filmography nor had Josh!
It was fun discussing these films but we are far from experts. If you check out the two podcasts on our network with our friend Samm Deighan, TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE and EROS + MASSACRE you will find some discussion of Lam as well as references to other writers who have covered his work. This represents a beginning of our journey but one I hope we return to soon. Of course we discuss our usual WACK AND ON TRACK gimmick and other shenanigans. ALSO, are you into anime? I am just getting into it and I wanna discuss it with folks who know more than me, get at me.

Hey friends, you know what it is, it is our NITRATE PICTURE SHOW recap episode. Sorry it is so late, there was a miscommunication between me and Sharkey and editing got delayed and the whole thing got held up. However, here we are! For this recap we are joined by Vinegar Syndrome Archivist Oscar Becher who you can see in the video below talking about dirty work
As usual I don’t have a lot to say on this episode having not been but Josh and Oscar really get into it and share a lot of interesting stuff about the fest
Of course all our usual shenanigans are present, and honestly Oscar is one of the more interesting and fun to talk to guests we have ever had. Thanks to him for coming on and being a willing participant in our insanity.

HAPPY 11 YEARS TO US AND WELCOME TO OUR NEW EPISODE!
I am posting this on May 5th, the day AFTER our 11th birthday but it still counts. In this episode we do something we honestly almost never do, we discuss a movie a lot of people are currently discussing, even on this very podcast network. Look, this discussing current films thing, let alone films that are relevant to culture thing, is not a new trend for us. However, yet another new film has come out that we are both really passionate about so we figured let’s jump on that opportunity. This episode was edited in time for this to come out BEFORE May 4th and the ERO GURO zine release at PhilaMOCA but I didn’t have time to post it. My bad. However, let’s get into this SINNERS discussion.
Be forewarned, this is not a spoiler free discussion. We do avoid spoilers initially but it was too difficult to get at what we wanted without at least acknowledging the whole narrative. I think listening after seeing the movie is recommended. It is really great though so def go see it. Also, there are a bunch of things available over at ROUGH CUT FAN CLUB so go order stuff please. OK love you.

CINEPUNX IS HERE TO ROCK IT! Oh, hey, it’s you and it’s us! Welcome to a new episode of CINEPUNX! Sometimes we get excited about a new movie and have to spend a whole episode gushing about it! Well we hope you like that cause not only did we do it this episode for FREAKY TALES, we did it for the next episode about SINNERS, so there is that. Hey, thanks for coming!
We do our usual WACK AND ON TRACK gimmick and I am yet again on record gushing about anime like some sort of weirdo. Do I need to start a podcast about anime from an outsiders perspective? I dunno, but this obsession is actually weird.

WE ARE BACK AND HERE TO EXPLORE THE DEPRAVED BOUNDARIES OF HUMAN FLESH AND IMAGINATION, IT IS A BRAND NEW EPISODE OF CINEPUNX!
It finally happened, after numerous requests for her to return, but we are blessed to be joined for the third time by our one and only SAMM DEIGHAN. Chances are you know Samm from her film writing and commentaries for folks like Criterion but I would hope you are as avid listener as I am to her incredible podcast on this very network, EROS + MASSACRE. Whenever Samm joins us she likes to push our boundaries and ask something of us as film viewers and this episode was no different as she lined up two classic Ero Guro films for us to check out, The Horrors of Malformed Men and Blind Beast, both from 1969.
This was a really great conversation, and honestly it was a blessing just to catch up with a good friend. We loved talking about these movies and quite honestly without Samm leading us to them I am not sure when we would have given them a chance. Do me a favor and go pick up a copy of her new book, REVOLUTION IN 35MM and if you can check out some of her upcoming programming events, she picks incredible stuff and always has insights to share. This episode was chosen in conjunction with a collaboration between Samm and us over at ROUGH CUT FAN CLUB, so keep an eye out for that as well. THANKS SAMM FOR BEING A GREAT FRIEND AND AN INCREDIBLE FILM EXPERT!

WELCOME FRIENDS, COMRADES, FAMBLY, AND FRENEMIES TO ANOTHER GLORIOUS EPISODE OF CINEPUNX!
Well, for better or worse here we are in 2025. I have so much to say about survival, resilience, preparing for the worst but also never giving up on hope, but this is not really the place for it. Just know we love you, and we want to be a source of joy for you.
2024 was not a great year for politics, society, the environment, but it WAS a great year for movies (and music btw). so Josh and I decided to spend an episode sharing our love for some great cinema in 2024!
This list is not meant to be definitive or comprehensive, personally I missed a ton of films last year, but this is just a chance for us to celebrate some of the movies that moved us. I start the episode giving you all my caveats and apologies, but suffice to say I hope this is not only entertaining but helpful in finding some new movies to check out. Ok love you all.

Hey friends, sorry for the long hiatus. Thanks to everyone who came out to our in person 10 year anniversary celebration in Philadelphia! Between life stuff and my travel for that but our decision not to record while I was in Philly, delays had to happen. Sorry friends. But we are back to catch up with you, tell you about wack and on track, our event, and Josh has a very helpful check in from the Philadelphia Film Fest!
I don’t wanna burden these show notes with links to every little thing we discuss because there is so very much, but suffice to say if you need more info hit us up, and thanks to each and every one of you with the infinite patience to stick with us. I can assure you we are scheduled to record again next week and I am working on some cool guests for the new year. We love you so very much, and I hope you have an awesome day.

ALL THE THINGS THAT USED TO BE INSIDE OF US…NOW THEY ARE OUTSIDE, or rather, WELCOME to a brand new episode of the one and only CINEPUNX! In celebration of all things spooky and possibly ooky Josh and I take a short journey into Japanese horror with a discussion of Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Cure.
We obviously loved the movie, and spend some time talking about our experience with japane3se horror and the ways this film really bends perception through narrative film making. We hope you enjoy the discussion and if you have any comments or questions hit us up on socials or come chat in our discord. Email cinepunx@gmail.com for a link! We are so grateful to you for joining us on this cinematic journey!
Speaking of things we are incredibly grateful for, those include you the listener and the opportunity to do this show for the last decade!
To celebrate this incredible opportunity and the gift of all of you, we are hosting a celebratory screening in Philly at the ole PhilaMOCA, you can aquire tickets to said event here and we would love it if you would! We will not only be sharing this incredible Guy Maddin film, but also hanging out, munching on some snacks, and just being friends!
We of course do our usual gimmick of WACK AND ON TRACK, I don’t know that we need to link to much except maybe CINEMA WASTELAND, and of course we also want you to come to our event above!

There you are, and here we are, and what do you know it is a new episode of the ole CINEPUNX! So glad you could join us for another foray into the wild world of cinema. On this wonderful episode we welcome Josh’s long time friend and my new friend, Matty King, to discuss the storied and diverse career of one NICOLAS CAGE, an actor whose work elicits a variety of opinions and takes.
You won’t be surprised to learn that we and Matty do not have the most common perspective on this often maligned as much as respected thespian. While I acknowledge that Cage has done his fair share of movies that are bad, he is also an incredible performer whose work often elevates an otherwise mediocre film to worth watching. Matty has been on a journey with his partner to watch all of Cage’s films, and is some 80 films deep at this point give or take, and has developed some strong theories around the shape and nature of the man’s career. Besides diving deep on the myth himself we also do our usual wack and on track gimmicks and if you need more info or links feel free to hit us up on socials. Matty was a real joy as a guest, thanks to him for sharing his sharp Cage insights and I hope we can have him again soon.

HAIL AND WELL MET HEARTY PODCAST EXPLORER AND WELCOME TO THE MOST CURRENT EPISODE OF CINEPUNX! Hey so, unlike most episode of the last couple years, this was edited, mixed, and mastered by yours truly, Liam O’Donnell. I do not bring that up to boast, no indeed, rather it is a request for aid. If you hear something in this episode that is off, sounds bad, or should have been edited out, let me know. One exception to that request, at one point I harangue Josh about his mouth sounds, however, that is the only part of the episode where I EDITED OUT his mouth sounds so it seems like I have lost my mind entirely, and that made me laugh so I left it.
On this episode we begin a journey of discovery for me into the works of Guy Maddin by discussing his 2007 film My Winnipeg. We had a good time with the film, but I promise for our next episode discussing his work I will do a bit more research, just had a rough week leading up to this recording,.
This episode was slightly delayed because I had to get up the episode before this one which was VERY delayed. Apologies but I think this means we are ready to be caught up and good to go into the future. We do our usual gimmicks and I don’t THINK there is anything I need to link to but maybe I am just forgetting something. Big ups to the man Doug Tilley for picking our music for this episode cause Canada. Thanks so much for your time and your patience friends.

LOOK OUT EVERYONE, IT IS A WILD EPISODE OF CINEPUNX! On this new and incredible episode of Cinepunx the fellas discuss recent horror film Cuckoo and by proxy the director’s other film Luz!
Ok, you guys know I hate starting an episode notes with an apology, but here we are. We recorded this episode AWHILE ago, but our man Sharkey who usually edits these things had issues come up and so I had to edit this one on my own,. So the apology is two fold, one that it was delayed which was Sharkey had a bunch of life stuff come up and could not get to it, and second that it might not sound as good without his expertise so you know, sorry and whatever,. Actually triple sorry to our friends and family over at The Carnage Report cause they recently covered this as well, but I swear it was relevant when we did it so my bad y’all. God I hate that.
Otherwise all the deals are the usual, we do our wacks and our on tracks and I am sure none of this is a big surprise but I love you all for listening anyway. Much love friends.

Though this episode was recorded on my end in Chicago, I am writing this in Portland so welcome to the internets best bi-coastal film podcast hosted by two punks of color. Is that specific enough for you?
SORRY FOR THE LONG DELAY ON THIS EPISODE! With moving and life stuff it took me a bit to get this to Sharkey, him a bit to edit, and then I didn’t realize he had shared it with me for a week. I swear, when we recorded this it was still kind of relevant and so much stuff has happened SINCE we recorded please forgive if we don’t mention something we should have
On this new episode we are discussing the trilogy from Delaware’s (?) own Ti West, someone we have not met but we share a few mutuals with. He likely won’t listen to this but if he does, HEY MAN COME ON THE SHOW!
Not much to say other than thanks for sticking around, we have a new episode ready to go asap, and we will be back on regular recording now that I have a home and internet. CINEPUNC BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH THE MOVIE DORK REALNESS.
Hey, yo, how fucking sick is The Seventh Curse? Like, crazy sick right? As you hopefully know this year is our tenth anniversary as a podcast and because of that we have been trying to plan fun shit to celebrate. In that spirit Josh and I recently programmed a 4 movie marathon on our Twitch channel and one of the films I chose was the actually incredible The Seventh Curse.
It turns out that Josh had never seen it and that particular screening blew him away so we decided we should pair it with another insane film from the same director, The Cat, and just cut loose with the Honk Kong insanity.
We do our usual WACK AND ON TRACK gimmick and Josh spend a long time recapping the incredible Nitrate Picture Show at the George Eastman theater, you should check it out.
That is about it other then our deep love and appreciation toward your our incredible listeners.

STEPHEN SONDHEIM! ANTHONY PERKINS! JAMES COBURN! LOTS OF WICKED SCHEMES AND PLANS ON A BOAT WITH RICH PEOPLE! Yes it is a brand new episode of Cinepunx where we welcome the incredible Alonso Duralde to discuss The Last of Sheila! You should know Alonso without introduction but just in case you should check out Linoleum Knife or Maximum Film or Breakfast All Day or his many appearances on Deck The Hallmark, BUT he joined us to promote his new books Hollywood Pride: A Celebration Of LGBTQ+ Representation and Perseverance in Film. Alonso chose for us to discuss the campy and wonderful The Last of Sheila, a film co written by Stephen Sondheim and Anthony Perkins that me and Josh had never seen before!
Alonso was a perfect guest, charming and incredibly patient with our Bullshit and we cannot be thankful enough to him for joining us. I don’t know that Josh and I would have found this movie on our own and I was so excited to discuss it. I also grabbed a copy of Alonso’s awesome new book and I am beyond excited to read it. I found out the audio book, read by him, is also available on spotify so check that out as well. Ok thanks so much friends, check out all of Alonso’s stuff so he thinks coming on our show was a good idea, word? word up.
