Label: Date 1510Year: 1966Condition: M-Price: $25.00Two great sides of jangly garage rock. The Clefs had two chart singles... this was their first and bigger hit. Check out the mp3 "snippet" for the catchy A side. The B side is also well worth seeking out. By the way, this group had no albums, just some 45s. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Date Records factory sleeve. It looks Near Mint (Labels, Vinyl) and has pristine Mint sound.
Label: Phil. Int'l. 3646Year: 1978Condition: MPrice: $15.00Don't miss this terrific dance number with some really great string arrangements going on. Check out the mp3 "snippet" of it! It's specially edited from a 4:18 album track. Note: This beautiful 45 comes in a vintage Philadelphia Int'l Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels and pristine sound.
Label: Westbound 55400Year: 1977Condition: M-Price: $9.00Classic Disco! You can't help but dance once this one starts... By the way, this hit single version is specially edited from a 7:14 album track. Note: This beautiful copy has Mint labels with a tiny date inked on the B side. The vinyl looks untouched, and the audio is pristine Mint!
Label: Columbia 10090Year: 1975Condition: MLast Price: $12.00. Not currently available for sale.OK, EWF fans, here's one of the pinnacles of the group's career, presented on a gorgeous promo copy. This was their first chart-topper on both the Pop and Black Billboard charts, was their first Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and turned out to be the biggest hit of their long career! Quite a lot of accomplishments for one little 45. From the arresting funk guitar line at the beginning, to the arresting a capella vocals at the end, the fun just doesn't stop. (Oh, and did I mention that all the action takes place in less than 3 minutes? That's a 45!) With this single, it was clear that Maurice White & the band had finally found their own unique groove.... and aren't we all fortunate that they did! Note: This copy comes in a vintage Columbia Records factory sleeve. It has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
Label: Sound Stage 7 1520 djYear: 1976Condition: MPrice: $20.00Stereo/Mono promo copy. Here's the best evidence I've heard yet that there was definitely life for Betty Everett after the 1960's. This has got to be one of the hottest soul tracks I've heard lately... Smokin'! Note: This copy comes in a vintage Sound Stage 7 Records factory sleeve. It has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
Label: WB 19392Year: 1991Condition: MPrice: $15.00From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy... pristine Mint! Having been a big R.E.M. fan since their 1983 debut ("Radio Free Europe"), and then watching their career unfold... not always in a direction I was thrilled about... I remember being totally astounded to hear this one. Not only was it a magnificent return to their roots musically, but it's a simply superior pop song. Nothing simple about it, but it sounds so simple! And consider this: "Losing My Religion" has no chorus. How do you make a pop song a hit that has no hummable chorus? And yet on the strength of its music and lyrics-- totally legible, it's so right-on as a tale of fragile, vulnerable love. "Religion" went on to become the biggest chart hit of the group's career. Deservedly so, and it anchored an album of similarly worthy note. As with most R.E.M. singles, the B side is a previously unreleased, non-LP cut. Dave Marsh included this single in his 1999 addendum to the original list of 1001 greatest singles, originally published in 1989. Note: This beautiful copy is pristine Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
Label: Phil. Int'l. 3521Year: 1972Condition: M-Price: $12.00Listening to this Philly Soul classic again today, I was thinking that the spark of genius at work here, in the collaboration among Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff and Bobby Martin, is precisely the same as that which gave life to the Motown genius of producer/writers like Norman Whitfield & Barrett Strong, with miracles of Soul music such as "Just My Imagination" by the Temptations. Anyway, what I mean is... I love it! Not on the Rolling Stone, Dave Marsh or Kev Roberts lists? I think I'm hearing something those guys don't, cause to me this is a 2-star recommendation (our highest)! Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Philadelphia Int'l Records factory sleeve. It looks very close to mint (Labels, Vinyl) and has gorgeous, Near Mint audio, held back by the quiet intro having a touch of underlying surface noise.
Label: Capitol 3546Year: 1973Condition: MPrice: $8.00The great A side is specially edited from a 3:42 album track. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Capitol Records factory sleeve. It has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
Label: RCA 13725Year: 1984Condition: MLast Price: $12.00. Not currently available for sale. What a fabulous recording this is! This duo was in a creative streak that we all got to enjoy, and this is one of the best Techno/Synth tracks of the early 1980's. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a Near Mint picture sleeve. The 45 itself has a little storage wear on the labels, but the vinyl (styrene) and audio grade pristine Mint. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)

Label: RCA 0217Year: 1974Condition: M-Price: $10.00I've been in love with this tune since the very first time I heart Burton Cummings belting out that acapella intro back in '74. It's great to have a copy back in the store! The flip is an uncharacteristically hard rocker. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage RCA Victor Records factory sleeve.
Label: Hi 2075Year: 1964Condition: M-Last Price: $30.00. Not currently available for sale. This amazing instrumental doesn't get enough attention outside of the (relatively) small club of knowledgeable soul music fans around the world. Even within that group, a lot of folks probably think of Willie Mitchell primarily for his work with Al Green and other artists in the early 1970's at Hi in Memphis. Never knowing that he also produced a string of seminal instrumental soul records every bit as influential as those of better-known Memphis acts like the Bar-Kays or Booker T & the MG's. This is probably his very best of the best. And don't think all the goodness is on the A side, either... this one's bright 'n' lively B side is hugely popular with Northern Soul clubs. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Hi Records factory sleeve. It grades very close to Mint in appearance (Labels, Vinyl) and has powerful, pristine Mint sound. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: ABC/TRC 10865Year: 1966Condition: M-Last Price: $35.00. Not currently available for sale. Here's a beautiful copy of this dynamite Northern Soul dancer, with a rhythm section that just won't quit! Absolutely essential Ray Charles. This amazing 45 appears to be a non-album single. Note: This copy comes in a vintage ABC-Paramount Records factory sleeve. The labels are Mint except for a tiny dabs of gold paint. which lowers the grade to Near Mint. The vinyl looks untouched, and the audio grades pristine Mint. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: Impact 1014 djYear: 1966Condition: M-Price: $14.00Two blissfully wonderful uptempo soul tracks.
Label: Hi 2018Year: 1959Condition: M-Price: $25.00Of course, it was Part 2 that became a huge hit for Bill Black and his Combo in late 1959. If you own only one Bill Black single, this is the one. As many of you know, Black (who was white) was the bass player who recorded with Elvis Presley on most (if not all) of his early Sun singles, along with Scott Moore on guitar and D.J. Fontana on drums. "Smokie" was his first solo single (or at least the first to chart), and the A side is quite a bit different--more upbeat--than the hit B side. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Hi Records factory sleeve. The audio is very close to Mint.
Label: RCA 9140Year: 1967Condition: MPrice: $25.00Everybody knows and loves the A side of this great single, but the B side is a 2-star destination in its own right! It's an amazing amalgam of Bo Diddley, Beatles, and psychedelia all stirred up into an exciting thrill ride that's uniquely Jefferson Airplane. Now, exactly what her funny cars are and what's so funny about them is a secret the band keeps to themselves. But hey, the words sound great anyway! Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage RCA Victor Records factory sleeve. It has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
Label: Capitol 2248Year: 1969Condition: MPrice: $15.00On the B side of this classic hit is another reason why Joe South is so admired... here's a complex pop song that's part country, part soul, part psychedelic rock. Numerous tricky, interesting time changes and melodies make it a great find hidden on a B side. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Capitol Records factory sleeve. It has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
Label: Alston 4574Year: 1969Condition: MPrice: $20.00A terrific two-sided soul nugget from '69, this became Reid's only real penetration of the pop chart (his other charter peaked at #99) and his only Top 10 black hit. This despite the fact that he churned out more than a dozen great singles over the next few years. Oh well. Have a listen to the snippet of his one hit, which was actually intended as an "answer song" to the Isley Bros. hit single "It's Your Thing", and you'll see how much great funky soul there is to discover (and covet). :-) Note: This copy comes in a vintage Atlantic Group Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels and pristine sound.
Label: Mercury 71941Year: 1962Condition: M-Price: $50.00This relentlessly catchy dancer, penned by none other than Billy Swan, always manages to cheer me up... Enjoy! This copy comes in the release's original picture sleeve. The B side appears to be a non-album recording. Note: This beautiful copy looks very close to Mint (Labels, Vinyl). The audio sounds pristine Mint, and the picture sleeve is nearly flawless!
Label: Stiff 1179Year: 1978Condition: MLast Price: $15.00. Not currently available for sale. This single was not released on any contemporary LP... it was a non-album 45. This is a Mint stock copy of the U.S. release, in its original picture sleeve. Now here's a guy who had an original thought in his head... yes, it was a strange thought, but if you happen to like strange, you'll be in heaven!
Label: WB 49511Year: 1980Condition: M-Last Price: $14.00. Not currently available for sale. This is one of my all-time favorite Paul Simon tracks... those irresistible Latin rhythms and horns makes it a dance dynamo. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a Near Mint picture sleeve with a little top-edge wear.
