Label: WB 7733Year: 1973Condition: M-Price: $14.00The A side is swinging Northern Soul at its danceable best! Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Warner/Reprise Records factory sleeve. It looks new (Labels, Vinyl), but the audio has light surface noise that keeps it a weak Near Mint.
Label: Buddah 383Year: 1973Condition: M-Price: $15.00This great record is well deserving of its high position in Dave Marsh's list of the 1001 greatest singles of Rock'n'Soul. I'm not sure that it wouldn't be even higher in my personal list... simply a perfect record. By the way, this hit version is specially edited from a somewhat longer (4:38) album track. This release has an instrumental version of the song on the B side. (Another version of the release has a different song on the B side.) Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Buddah Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels and pristine sound.
Label: Arista 0139 djYear: 1975Condition: MPrice: $18.00Stereo/Mono promo copy. This is one seriously great dance number, with a powerful sense of menace that you don't normally find in Disco music... Which is why I've decided to put it in the Philly Soul genre instead. No matter... it's a must-have 1975 rarity. Group is New York duo Mike Felder (guitar) and Bill Daniels (piano). They didn't make an album, just a couple of singles, which is why you won't find this tune in Apple Music, Spotify, or other primarily-album-based services. This promo has a somewhat shorter version than on the retail release. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Arista Records factory sleeve. It has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio). (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: Columbia 43678Year: 1966Condition: MLast Price: $40.00. Not currently available for sale. This is one of this group's finest singles. It's not only got the familiar Garage-style hit on the A side, but you'll find a neat, catchy, Beatlesque rocker on the flip. Great package! I'm glad to see Dave Marsh includes it in his list, because if it weren't there it would definitely get 2 stars from me! :-) I hope you enjoy the mp3 snippet as much as I do. Speaking of which, fans of short songs take note: "There She Goes" has a clock time of only 1:45! Note: This beautiful copy comes in a Near Mint picture sleeve, which has no notable flaws. This vinyl pressing has Mint labels and pristine sound.
Label: Sire 28630Year: 1986Condition: M-Last Price: $9.00. Not currently available for sale. From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original picture sleeve. The terrific B side is specially edited from a much longer (6:34) album version. Despite notable scuffing on the vinyl, the audio is a strong Near Mint. The picture sleeve is also Near Mint with the beginning of a bottom split seam, light top edge wear and some ringwear in the white background areas of the sleeve.
Label: Date 1642Year: 1969Condition: M-Price: $25.00Here's a dynamite Northern Soul dancer you won't want to miss... have a listen to the mp3 "snippet"! The B side is a fine keeper as well. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Date Records factory sleeve. It grades Near Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
Label: Gordy 7056Year: 1966Condition: M-Last Price: $24.00. Not currently available for sale. This beautiful copy has amazing audio... awesome to hear this classic in its original pounding clarity. This is a first pressing with the "It's in the grooves" Gordy label. Note: This copy has a drillhole. The vinyl grades Near Mint, and the audio is pristine. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: King 6245Year: 1969Condition: M-Price: $20.00Simply amazing. You can bet a whole truckload of producers and musicians took notes when this baby hit the streets... and they're still doing it today. For Brown, of course, it was just another step in the path he was leading toward Funk. This original release has the orange King label with James Brown's picture on it. It has stereo audio. Note: The labels have a touch of ringwear, grading Near Mint, and the vinyl looks only lightly touched. The audio is huge and Near Mint... true musical genius!
Label: WB 29746Year: 1983Condition: M-Last Price: $10.00. Not currently available for sale. This is a terrific edited cut from the 5:03 LP version, and it's this tune that ranks the highest of all the Prince singles in Dave Marsh's Top 1,001 Singles list. And as if the A side weren't reason enough to own this classic single, the B side is one of those super-special, non-LP cut offerings Prince managed to throw around for free on his 1980's singles. The audio is turns to mint after the quiet intro.
Label: RCA 10441Year: 1975Condition: M-Last Price: $15.00. Not currently available for sale. This is one of Bowie's absolutely essential singles, and you'll find that it's a specially edited version that's about half a minute shorter than the album cut. Chart Nerd Alert: In the 1970s, Bowie released some of the very best music of his career, but he only had two Top 10 U.S. hit singles -- "Fame" (a chart-topper from earlier in 1975) and "Golden Years" (which peaked at #10). His career would take off even more strongly after 1983's hit album "Let's Dance," and he had four Top 10 U.S. hits in the 1980s (oh, all right: "Let's Dance," "China Girl," "Blue Jean," and "Dancing in the Street" (w/Mick Jagger). Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage RCA Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels and pristine sound.
Label: Stiff 1179Year: 1978Condition: MLast Price: $15.00. Not currently available for sale. This single was not released on any contemporary LP... it was a non-album 45. This is a Mint stock copy of the U.S. release, in its original picture sleeve. Now here's a guy who had an original thought in his head... yes, it was a strange thought, but if you happen to like strange, you'll be in heaven!
Label: A&M 2345Year: 1981Condition: M-Last Price: $14.00. Not currently available for sale. This is a beautiful stock copy in its original picture sleeve. This is one of the essential Squeeze singles. Not only do you get the great A side featuring one of Paul Carrack's best vocals ever, but also a terrific, previously unreleased B side. Note that Elvis Costello was co-producer of these tracks. "Tempted" was one of many fine recordings from their top-notch LP, East Side Story. Though the group had been huge in their native U.K. for several years, that album was the first one to garner any attention State-side, and this was their first chart single here. (Though, oddly, it wasn't even released on 45 rpm in the U.K.!) The single has a slightly edited version of the 4:02 album track. Note: This beautiful copy comes in its gorgeous picture sleeve grades Near Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio)
Label: Laurie 3464Year: 1968Condition: MPrice: $15.00In case you were wondering, it's the B side of this Folk classic that got Dave Marsh's attention at #452 on his list of the 1,001 greatest singles ever made. Just a warning if you're not familiar with it: "Daddy Rollin'" ain't your Mother's Dion! (We use this side to assign the 45 to a genre, although clearly "Abraham" isn't "Hard Rock/Metal" :-) Released only as the B side (not available on the album) to a familiar and comforting anthem, in "Daddy Rollin," as Marsh says:Haunted electric guitars clang and clash against one another, drums pound in from another room, uniting in a wad of noise symbolizing nothing but spelling out pain and fear... It was the scariest music Dion ever made...
Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Laurie Records factory sleeve. It has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio). (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: Atco 6668Year: 1969Condition: M-Price: $25.00George Harrison, who cowrote the song, also plays guitar on this great track. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Atco Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels and Near Mint vinyl and audio. The audio has a touch of underlying surface noise.
Label: ABC-Pmt. 10329Year: 1962Condition: M-Price: $25.00Is this classic early Bubblegum? Or late Buddy Holly? Whatever, Roe's Holly impression is spot-on, and ultimately the song and recording succeed on their own, as a truly brilliant reworking of "Peggy Sue." I tend to think of it as Bubblegum because you really have to get in touch with your long lost, pubescent self to appreciate the simple, romantic sentiments Roe sings of. If you can't summon yourself as a 14-year-old, you simply won't understand part of the enduring appeal of Bubblegum Rock. (Another of its enduring appeals is its danceability: All Bubblegum Rock is made for dancing!) Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage ABC-Paramount Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels wth a small numbered sticker on one side. The vinyl looks almost untouched, and the audio is outstanding and close to Mint. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: Capitol 4932Year: 1963Condition: M-Price: $35.00This is a beautiful copy of the Beach Boys' first top 10 hit, which also had a Top 40 B side -- one of their greatest "Car" songs. Note: This 45 record comes in a vintage Capitol Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels and vinyl, and pristine Mint audio!
Label: Threshold 67006Year: 1971Condition: M-Price: $12.00This great single is one of the few occasions when the group really rocked out big time... an essential Moody Blues track! Note: This copy comes in a vintage London Group Records factory sleeve. The vinyl (styrene) shows signs of jukebox wear, but the audio is very close to mint. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: Laurie 3179Year: 1963Condition: M-Price: $35.00Here's an especially beautiful copy of the single that sits at #43 on Dave Marsh's list of the 1,001 greatest 45s of all time, in its original Laurie Records factory sleeve! Great B side, too. This is an original 1963 pressing with the powerful Mono mix. I'm celebrating the awesome ear-candy experience listening to this copy with its flawless audio by making an mp3 "snippet" for you to hear. Keep in mind, it's a greatly compressed version of what you'll actually hear from the 45 itself... but ain't it grand? :-) Note: This vinyl pressing looks almost new (Labels, Vinyl), and as I've already noted, the audio is flawless and powerful. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: Sire 29444Year: 1983Condition: M-Last Price: $16.00. Not currently available for sale. This is a like-new stock copy, in its original picture sleeve. It's interesting to note that both sides of this single show up in Dave Marsh's list of the 1,001 greatest 45s... "2000 Miles" (the greatest new Christmas song of the 1980s, according to Marsh) is at #630, while "Middle of the Road" weighs in at #805! Note: This copy has light storage wear and two "x's" that lowers the Label grade to Near Mint. The wax and audio are pristine, and the picture sleeve has only light ringwear not visible in scan and age appropriate top edge wear.
Label: WB 29917Year: 1982Condition: MPrice: $7.00From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original factory sleeve. This was Anderson's first Country chart-topper, just before his big crossover hit "Swingin'", and from a pure chart perspective was his biggest Country hit. It has a real Zydeco/Cajun feel to it... have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" in our "jukebox"! Note: This beautiful 45 has pristine Mint audio.
