Classics You Slept Through: Episode 1 - Welcome! Hi! We’re glad you found our podcast! In today’s episode we’ll meet our hosts, Kyle and Meredith, and briefly describe the concept for this show! Hope you’ll join us! Our first book is The Call of the Wild, by Jack London. A staple classic of high schools across the country, and now a major motion picture starring Harrison Ford. Classics You Slept Through: Episode 7 - The Metamorphosis - Part 1 Today's episode begins our second book, The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka. It's the surreal tale of Gregor Samsa, who awakes one morning to find himself transformed into an insect. It's another short read, so today is Chapter 1 and half of Chapter 2. (Up to the line which ends 'to see how his sister liked the new arrangement.', if you're reading along on your own. Copy of the book available here). A bonus episode!? What is this?? If you listened all the way through yesterday's wrap of Moreau, then you know that Mere has given birth to a healthy baby girl, and honestly, it couldn't have come at a better time, as we haven't yet started Northanger Abbey. Never fear - we will start that book once Mere is back on her feet and ready to record again. In the meantime, we (or, mostly Kyle, with a little help) will be bringing you some bonus content, starting with today's interview with our Dad. Back in our first episode, Mere and I both discussed how our life-long love of reading was formed very early, by our Dad reading to us nightly. We'll talk with him about the decision to read to his kids, what he enjoys reading (or not), and some of his favorite memories and books from our youth.
