Marcus explains that they do shipping, printing, custom artwork, banners and design just about anything a consumer or business would need. We aim to make it personal to take care of our customers the best way we know how. Marcus shares his experiences as an entrepreneur and believes that anyone can do it if they find something they are passionate about, but he cautions to take it slow. He believes you should think through it and have a complete plan before you start. Always have a support group around you to build your success. His wife works with him, and they have developed a great partnership within the business. He suggests focusing on relationship building with customers to bring additional opportunities to expand your business.  
This week on Clear Lake Connections Podcast presented by UTMB Health: Meet Brad Bricker, owner of CMITSolutionsIn this week’s episode, we meet Brad Bricker, owner of CMITSolutions that is an IT company targeting small and mid-size businesses. CMIT Solutions is a franchise that is locally owned but still connected to others nationwide.  Brad started playing with computers and IT back in high school. Working with small businesses is his favorite because he works directly with the owners. Franchising was the way to give him control of his time. Common needs of small businesses include poor configurations of their networks and not having enough security checks. Processing credit cards needsto have the best security systems in place. Detering ransom attacks is important to all companies, especially small businesses. If you have sensitive data, you are a target to be vandalized.  Medical practices are a major industry that gets hit by digital criminals. Brad can help manage different levels of security and storage for your type of business.  Marketing advice from Brad is to promote your business on Facebook and LinkedIn, but he believes that the Clear Lake Area Chamber has given him the most opportunities to build relationships with small business owners, to build his business.
This week on Clear Lake Connections Podcast presented by UTMB Health: Meet Jill Reason, Executive Director Bay Area Houston Ballet & TheatreIn this week’s episode, we meet Jill Reason, Executive Director for the Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theatre. Jill explains that the Ballet is celebrating its 50th year. Jill gives a brief history of the ballet and talks about their amazing founder Lynette Mason Gregg, whose passion led tobringing exceptional performance art to the Bay Area. Jill talks about how she got involved with the ballet. Jill reveals that planning for the 50th season of the ballet began five years ago. Multiple events will take place throughout the year to commemorate 50 years. A community wide birthday party is happening in the month of September where you can visit restaurants across the community who have dedicated desserts for the ballet. September 5th is a huge kick-off at UHCL free to the community. The performance season opens with Swan Lake in October. The Sugar Plum Fairy breakfast and afternoon tea is November 22nd. The annual Nutcracker ballet brings thousands of people to kick off the holidays and this year they will do a record breaking 21 performances. January 31st will be a celebration at Lone Star Flight Museum with a special experience for everyone that attends. The season will end with performances of Oklahoma in April. Jill credits her Board and world-renowned artistic staff that keeps the ballet at the highest level. Jill’s advice to other nonprofit organizations is to diversify your income just in case one area goes down. Dr. Saleem explains what radiology is, how it is used and why it is so important to healthcare. He describes radiology as thebackbone of any medical system. All patients connect with radiology during their care. Ultrasounds, x-rays, MRI, CT scans are the most common procedures for imaging. Dr. Saleem discusses the remarkable technological advances in thelast decade for radiology. Scan times are faster, and the digital images are better which result in quicker diagnosis. Dr. Saleem also explains how radiology today can assist him with surgical procedures. Interventional radiology allowshim to perform procedures under image guidance to fix problems in the body without having to cut. Small puncture wounds can be used instead to speed up recovery times.

This week on Clear Lake Connections Podcast presented by UTMB Health: Meet Michelle Vu, Neuroscience ServiceLine DirectorIn this week’s episode, we meet Michelle Vu, NeuroscienceService Line Director for UTMB overseeing the stroke program working with both departments of neurology and neurosurgery touching everything neuro. Michelle started her career at UTMB Clear Lake with the stroke center. She said her passion started as a nurse understanding quality patient care not only for the nurses but EMT’s and everyone else who deals with a patient. Bringing awareness regarding signs of a stroke is imperative. A stroke is an attack in the brain that can cause major disruptions to the body. Pay attention to someone who might be in distress by using Be FAST: balance, eyes, face, arms, speech and time. The faster someone is seen for treatment the better the outcome. Risk factors for stroke include high blood pressure, diabetes, and AFIB (heart not pumping properly). Education and awareness for staff and caregivers of stroke patients is extremely important as additional strokes can occur. Michelle was thrilled to announce that UTMB Clear Lake achieved the prestigious comprehensive stroke designation with the state which means they have the highest level of designation and can treat both types of strokes. Michelle is very confident that anyone needing help will be well cared for at UTMB.

Doug explains that 313 is the area code for Detroit and the concept for the restaurant is serving up the best Detroit style pizza. Doug talks about his history with the company, meeting them first as a patron in Austin to now helping them showcase their delicious food to the Clear Lake Area. Natasha explains that this is a 501(c)(3) community event presented by the volunteer efforts of the Houston Wing, Gulf Coast Wing, and Tora! Tora! Tora! of the Commemorative Air Force, with support from the Lone Star Flight Museum, Collings Foundation-Houston based at Ellington Airport, and the Vietnam War Flight Museum. Natasha shares that this is one of the top air shows in the United States, that brings visitors to our community from all over the world. The airshow is a premier Houston event dedicated to showcasing vintage World War II aircraft, along with the thrills of modern aviation, and has supported a variety of local and national charities during its 40-year history. Natasha describes what a guest can expect at the event including the veteran owned business booths plus the aircraft that can be experienced on the ground. Dr. Samreen discusses the plan for success her and her team put together for every patient. Their philosophy is to help the patient properly prep their body and mind for the procedure. She explains how they support the patient during and after the procedure to ensure the best outcome. Dr. Samreen lists the many benefits to living at a healthy weight, she emphasized, “not the scale number but how the patient feels”.
