E15 – Study Tips – How to pass AWS Certification Exams with Phil (our Assessment Architect)

So you’ve decided to get AWS Certified… what’s your plan to get there? Studying for the exams is not easy, and it will require a ton of work. And let’s face it, studying usually isn’t fun. Often, people focus too much on the rewards of earning their certification and not enough on the process of getting there. The AWS Certification exams are tough – even at the Associate level – and if you go in unprepared, there’s a good chance you won’t do as well as you’d like to. Everyone learns differently. No study plan exists that will work for everyone in every situation. What works for you might not work for someone else, and vice versa – however, there are a few basic guidelines that will help you develop your own plan. We’ve put together this list of 5 study tips to help you learn effectively and increase your odds of passing. E01 - Target Scaling, StackSets, and creating default VPCs

Let's kick off this new cloud podcast by talking about brand new features to the AWS platform: - Target Scaling for Auto Scaling (we also talk about the same feature but for DynamoDB, which came out a few months ago), and how that simplifies dynamic scaling: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/autoscaling/latest/userguide/as-scaling-target-tracking.html - CloudFormation StackSets and how they allow you to control stacks across multiple accounts or regions from a single location: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSCloudFormation/latest/UserGuide/what-is-cfnstacksets.html - The ability to now create your own default VPC instead of having to contact AWS: https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/whats-new/2017/07/create-a-new-default-vpc-using-aws-console-or-cli/ In the next episodes, we'll branch out into other cloud platforms, including the likes of Azure, OpenStack, and Google Cloud Platform, to keep you up-to-date with the latest developments while you're driving, mowing the lawn, or anything in between.
