Families fight - and so do churches. But that’s not how it should be. In Philippians 2:1-11, we see how the reality of who Jesus is must determine the way we treat each other. The Son of God gave himself in humble service. How can this shape the way we live together as a local church? And what message will this send to the world when we put it into practice?
There are costs to seeing the gospel go out into the world. But the unity of the local church helps us face those costs no matter what happens. Join us as we see a vivid picture of unity that’s strong enough to come under fire in Philippians 1:27-30.
We begin the book of Philippians by looking at Paul’s example of prayer. Why do so many of us struggle to pray? How can we learn to pray with thankfulness, joy and devotion? One overlooked reason has to do with our connection to God’s people. Join us as we see how Philippians 1:1-11 points us to how gospel partnership is the fuel for heartfelt prayer.

Today in a one-off sermon, our guest preacher Duncan Sutherland, will be looking at the question, “Where is God?” which finds its answer in 1 Kings 8 through Solomon and the temple.
Today in a one-off sermon, our guest preacher Ben Lattimore, will be unpacking 2 Timothy 4:9-22 and through this passage show how God's presence helps us persevere in the midst of pain in the Christian life.
The most common question our church gets is: Why do you keep kids in during the gathering? Shouldn’t we run a Sunday School to teach kids in their age groups, instead of expecting them to sit through a sermon? But we believe Scripture paints a different picture. Join us as we unpack the central importance of the family from Deuteronomy 6.
The culture around us values great leaders, but can overlook a moral failing so long as they deliver great results. Today we explore in Titus 1:5-9 that God puts leaders of His church who qualify to be there. He shows us that they need to be men, plural. And men of Godly character in the home and in their conduct generally, and who are able to handle God’s word in teaching and correcting.
Often evangelism feels like it’s only for the brave or extraverted. However, the Scriptures give us a different picture: faithful evangelism is about proclaiming the gospel together. But how do we do that? Join us as we go through 1 Peter 2:1-12 and see how God calls us to reach the lost together as a church.
Baptism can seem weird from an outsider’s perspective. But our church makes it even weirder, by saying things like: we’ll only baptise believers, and only accept baptised believers into membership! Why is believers baptism such an important distinctive of our church? Acts 2 gives us a window into the New Testament’s clear teaching on this.
“Church discipline” - the words send shivers down our spines! But what does it really mean? And why are accountable relationships necessary for a healthy church? Jesus gives us clear instructions for how to deal with sin in a healthy, restorative, honest way. Join us as we look at Matthew 18:15-20 together.
One thing that is ‘distinctive’ about our church is formal membership - or what we call ‘meaningful membership.’ Why should someone be a member of a local church? Is it an unnecessary add-on to the Christian life, or something more? Join us as we dive into 1 Corinthians 12 together, understanding what it means to be part of “the body of Christ.”
We finish our time in 2 Samuel with David’s final song - a brutal and honest account of how God saved him from death. How does God save us today? What does he save us from? And how can we make sure our feet are planted on the ‘rock’ that David talks about?
King David faces a familiar sight: the open desert. Why on earth would God bring him back to this place of suffering? And why would God lead us back to times of suffering? As we see in 2 Samuel 15-19, there are some things that God wants to recover in us, and suffering is the only place he can do it. What does God want to recover in you? Listen in as Dan leads us through this challenging but essential part of Scripture.
"David and Goliath" isn't the only pair of names that go together. We also know about "David and Bathsheba." This King after God's own heart turns out to be an adulterer and a murderer. How did this happen? Can there still be a way back from even the worst sin? Listen in as we trace through 2 Samuel 11-12, seeing five truths about sin and what they mean for our lives.
What makes for a truly loving church? Everyone has ideas, but God gives us the definition: a love church is built on a covenant. We see this in David’s relationship with a man named Mephibosheth, who has nothing to offer him, but becomes the recipient of his over-the-top love. Where does that love come from? A covenant - a promise. Listen in as we go through 2 Samuel 9, seeing how David’s covenant of love points us to God’s covenant with us, and how this must shape the way we love as a church.
We all struggle to pray. What might we be missing? Here in 2 Samuel 7, we see David respond to the incredible promise God has just made to him. His heartfelt prayer teaches us to pray God’s promises for ourselves.
This passage gives us a ‘slow motion’ moment: Uzzah touches the ark of God, and instantly falls down dead. How do we make sense of that? What does it show us about God, and about us? What we’ll see is that God decides how we should worship him - not us. And that’s the difference between us coming up with the idea of ‘God’ and God telling us how we should respond to him. Listen along as we see who God truly is, and how we should worship him in truth.
