We all know him as the leader of the Nazi party, who threw Europe and the world into war, and responsible for one of the most atrocious atrocities in history, the holocaust. But before all this, what happened to shape one of the most notorious dictators of the 20th century? So pour your cuppas because this is Coffee and a Slice of HISTORY; The Rise of Adolf Hitler.
Banished to a cave, a young 15 year old has gone into labour with her baby girl. When the baby is born, it’s cries are disguised by the roaring thunderstorm outside of the cold stone cave walls. In Pripyat, 49,000 lived peacefully in a newly formed city, complete with schools, a railway, hospital, gyms and all the other amenities you would see in a city in 1986, until 26th April, where in just a couple of weeks it was left abandoned. A ghost town now remains, with a rusting Ferris wheel and windowless apartment blocks. But what happened to the population at Pripyat and why is there now a large metal dome on the horizon at Chernobyl? Typhoid, a bacterial disease commonly associated with overcrowded and unsanitary slum. So why in the years between 1900 through to 1907 had wealthy, affluent families in New York fallen ill and in some cases die because of the typhoid fever while they lived in the opposite conditions in which the disease thrived? Gladiators were the original ‘Saturday night entertainment’ within Ancient Rome. They were people who would engage in combat with other people or wild animals for the amusement of vast crowds of the Roman Empire. Trained with specific weapons and wearing different types of armour these combat fighters were a great source of public entertainment for years. Smuggling; some people think pirates and simple fisherman trying to earn a little extra cash on the side. However, we look at it, it’s an illegal act born out of customs duty and taxes put on to imported, and exported goods. Initially, the taxes weren’t a ridiculous amount of money, however as time went on and people got more greedy there were more wars to fight and fund and the government couldn’t decide whether parliament or the crown got the most money, these taxes increased, here became the birth of smuggling.
